  1. Well, beef has been bad on NSBB since we traded Welington Castillo. ----- No, but seriously I didn't start this. I rarely even responded to his posts. Dude is weird: You're familiar with this one: Can you do me a huge favor and post the full horsefeathering name of horsefeathering 17 year olds that nobody's horsefeathering heard of? You know a lot about draft prospects and you post a lot of cool horsefeathers about them and I'd like to benefit from your knowledge rather than wanting to choke you out. After Anthony Bourdain passed away: Damn. That's pretty sad. Suicide is a growing problem in this country and many Western countries. It horsefeathering sucks and when a celebrity does that it sometimes leads others to contemplate it or attempt it as well. Really tragic. I horsefeathering hate suicide and any art form that shows it like Netflix's series "13 Reasons Why" too. Not to get preachy, but if anyone here is depressed and/or having ill thoughts please seek help. Call the National Suicide Prevention lifeline (1-800-273-8255). Call a friend. Call someone if you're in trouble. EDIT: There is no shame in seeing a therapist either. IMO everyone should see a therapist to help cope with their problems. Aaaannnd now I can never make fun of you again. Nice post. From this thread a few pages back:
  2. Not sure the BFIB are all that happy about re-signing him. A lot of them wanted him gone. I thought he was moving on and signing with a pretender like the Giants.
  3. I wasn't looking for you when I went back to see what I wrote about Baez vs. Russell. I was genuinely surprised you were the one that thought I literally meant Trea Turner when I mentioned a "T. Turner + J. Ross" type package in a possible trade for Russell. Surprised me and makes you look even more foolish for calling me out later.
  4. There will be a page 67. Not there yet lol. I changed it.
  5. It wasn't meant for you. If you don't get it, that's fine. Look who wrote that last line. Might want to go back a few pages. Go back to page 57.
  6. He's also still our best SS and it would be stupid to trade him Not sure it would be all that stupid if you had Trea Turner headlining the deal Just thought I'd share this little nugget from the past. Look who wrote that last line. Huh, that's weird... Gotta say it's pretty funny now.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Geez, this kid is a beast. I guess the A's are planning on taking him in the 1st round next year lol.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet] Really good article.
  9. I've been thinking about ways to get rid of Heyward for a long time. I just don't believe in his bat (even when he's playing well) and think his defense is starting to slip and go backwards. His contract will not age well. We could just straight up dump him on some team and pay like 90-95% of what's left. I'd only do this if we signed Harper and had a good option for CF. Not sure if playing Happ full-time in CF is ideal. His defense and route running is not great there. I know engineering 3-team trades is foolish and hard to pull off, but I just don't see a way Stl will make a straight up trade with us. The Redbirds are going to try to move Fowler this offseason. Heyward has a limited NTC and I doubt he wants to go back to Stl. I imagine Colorado wants to get rid of Ian Desmond so I thought about this: Cubs get Dexter Fowler + Wade Davis + cash Rockies get Heyward (+ cash?) Cardinals get Ian Desmond (+ maybe a prospect?) Obviously, all these players have warts and bad contracts. Just the degrees and making the money/contracts work out. Do you guys want to trade for Dexter if possible? What about Wade Davis? Not sure if this framework would ever work out, but I think Dexter could bounce back and be a positive influence in the clubhouse. You could split CF between Fowler and Happ (not a great defensive platoon I know). What do you guys think?
  10. Maybe if his name was Forrest Whitey.
  11. From the latest chat on Fangraphs:

  13. It makes sense that they offer an extension to KB right now. It'll be harder to sign him once they offer an even larger amount to Harper. I wonder how much the Nats offered to Harper. Did that ever leak? I know they've tried multiple times to sign him to an extension.
  14. given his religious nature and lack of children, can we truly say he's funked a mother? THIS GUY FUNKS Only if they allowed polygamy again. Make America Great Again has a whole different meaning for him.
  15. I have mormon friends who smoke pot but do not drink. I think there's hope. I have Muslim friends that drink, but don't smoke pot. I have no idea why they choose to do one and not the other? People are weird.
  16. Were other teams that interested in Roederer? I haven't heard or read anything about other teams showing heavy interest in him. They might have had better scouting reports when he was healthy, but I'm pretty sure if the Cubs don't draft him he ends up going to UCLA.
  17. http://www.tankathon.com/mlb Cubs have the 27th pick. Looking at last year's MLB draft slots and pool amounts right now. The Nats picked 27th last year and that draft slot was $2,472,700. Assuming the pool amounts increase a little bit the Cubs total draft pool should be around $5.75 mil.

  19. Well, there is a difference between college and the minors. He's performing with a wood bat now and you can see his swing in action against better stuff/better pitching. I agree that scouting reports shouldn't change too much just a month after signing, unless the guy is heavily promoted like all the way to High-A. I remember some reports questioning Benintendi and his swing in college. Then he entered the minors and kept raking. Some top college hitters really struggle and some just keep hitting. It's not an exact science. I think the reports on Nico are better now? I don't think it's changed too much honestly. The main questions are whether he can stick at SS (I still don't know about that) and whether he'll hit for power. The power seems likely now, but we'll have to wait and see. Also, I don't think Nico employs the "Stanford Swing" and I don't remember reading that in any reports on him. His swing is geared towards hitting line drives all over the field. Anyway, how he performs in the AFL will definitely tell us how advanced he is.

  21. Of the teams left there is one and only one choice: Red Sox. Every other team sucks and you should be rooting against them.

  23. I agree with what you're saying -- more changing the hitting philosophy over mechanics. Still, I think he was working with Heyward on his mechanics. I think every Cubs hitting coach is obligated to work with Heyward at this point... That's the one player he was trying to change and help (I believe). I thought he did actually help him and it seemed like Heyward was using his hands/wrists again in his swing. I think Heyward looked better at the plate before regressing and becoming bad Heyward again. I think he is what he is at this point.
  24. I watched the whole thing. It was great and I think Theo said all the right things. I don't think he was alluding to anyone in particular. Probably speaking about the team's mindset collectively and how they lost that killer edge. I really don't think the players got complacent. A bunch of players just struggled this year. Also, we need to remember this Cubs team won 95 games so we have to frame this disappointment in the right context.
  25. [tweet] [/tweet] Definitely think the season should be shorter. I used to be against it, but now I think a 154 game schedule with more days off is better.
