  1. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Outstanding performance tonight from The Professor.
  2. Now, to get this thread back on track. #32 for Javy: [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. [tweet] [/tweet]Will it last? Yeah, I'm concerned about this as well. So many young pitchers are getting this surgery in HS. Velo keeps increasing and pitchers keep throwing at maximum effort. I will say maybe with starters going fewer innings and an adherence to a strict pitch count that this will help reduce it at the big league level.
  5. https://www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx?draft=2018updated&type=0&pos=all&team=chc Not sure if this link has been shared before. It's a link to Fangraph's THE BOARD feature with the Cubs Prospect list. So the Cubs have 9 prospects with a 45+ FV rating. Gallardo almost makes it into that group with a 40+ FV. Miguel Amaya is #1 at 50 FV (which should be higher IMO). It's a good list, but I think Roederer should be higher and DJ Wilson much lower. Also, Trent Giambrone isn't on the list and that's a mistake. Maybe when they update it next time.
  6. [tweet]https://twitter.com/KroenkeDonk/status/1041037616379060224[/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet]https://twitter.com/Johnso3B/status/1041058661723004930[/tweet] I knew this was coming after Puig went off against the Cardinals lol.
  7. awesome! Yeah, but we're not getting them unfortunately. I think Victor Victor Mesa has an agreement with Baltimore and I thought I read something about Victor Mesa Jr. having a deal in place. Bummer.
  8. You've never seen that image before? It's pretty old now lol.
  9. That is a hilarious way to end a series. It was obviously a balk too.
  10. [tweet]https://twitter.com/laurilegend24/status/1039272006284398592[/tweet]
  11. [tweet]https://twitter.com/Cubs/status/1039715118001651712[/tweet] Great play by Russell and I love the reaction from Bote lol. Even better that this play went against Braun.
  12. [bbvideo=853,480] [/bbvideo] This is one college player I really like and think he will get taken pretty high in next year's draft. His stats are really good for his first two years in college. The problem is his stats in the Cape Cod League aren't that impressive so I wonder how Cubs' scouts and their scouting department feel about him. He also might not stick at 3B and his overall speed isn't great. The bat seems pretty special to me though.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] This is pretty cool. I would have loved to have seen this when the Cubs had the highest-rated farm system a few years ago.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] Well, that sucks. I thought he might have a chance to make it back this season.

  16. http://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/24587116/which-future-high-draft-picks-turned-heads-future-stars-series Law mentions Glenallen Hill Jr. in this piece and talks about a few amateur prospects that stood out for him. I don't want to post the whole thing, but it's a good article if you have ESPN insider or ESPN+ or whatever they call it now. The kid Law mentions at the beginning of the article is really impressive and has a good delivery. Here's video of Espino pitching at Wrigley earlier in the summer: [bbvideo=640,360] [/bbvideo]
  17. I know right? I'm assuming you're talking about the random "choke you out" part lol?
  18. Maybe once you turn 18 or whatever, you'll learn just how obnoxious it is when you make posts just to suck your own dick Geez, really lol? Come on, there's plenty of guys here who bring up things from time to time they're right about. I don't see anything wrong with what Regular Show just said. Hell, Javy was an absolute lightning rod, there's been more of that with him, than with anyone probably. horsefeathers, the only other thing that's probably had more play was the whole rebuild debate. We've all been right some, we've all been wrong some. I have no idea what is going on with that guy. Weird horsefeathers. He wrote this a while back in the 2018 Draft thread to me: I didn't even bother responding back then because someone did it for me lol. Like I said a weird horsefeathers. If I owned a store and he was the customer I would probably say this to him:
  19. Yeah, Cards losing again to the Tigers today. 2-0 in the 3rd. A late-season fade that has them missing the playoffs would be amazing.
  20. why don't you marry him Really? http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/2013/06/Colin_Farrel-Disgusted.gif
  21. I didn't think his increased value was predicated on becoming a better defender. I thought he had untapped potential on offense and that is what is happening. I thought he would draw more walks and become a little more patient. He only has 21 BB this season so that hasn't happened yet. I definitely saw him hitting for more power. I think I saw this type of season happening in 2-3 seasons down the road (with a little higher OBP/more walks), but not this soon.
  22. He really is a Road To the Show character come to life Pretty much; he's essentially proved everyone wrong, including the people that didn't think he was gonna bust or shouldn't be traded. If you can find me one person who said something, like, "Baez is going to inexplicably bend the game to his will and ability and really not change much at all," it would be a [expletive] miracle. Yeah, no one saw him becoming an MVP candidate. I made a post advocating for Baez to become the starting SS and how I think he has a higher upside over Russell last year. It was not a popular opinion and Duke and Cubswin11 and others were telling me why Baez was unlikely to become a 4 or 5 WAR player and how Russell has more potential and blah blah blah. I still think Baez can be just as good as Russell on defense btw. I'll try finding it. I remember mentioning Russell and trying to flip him to some team in the offseason to get a "Trea Turner + Joe Ross" type package back and people literally thought I wanted the Cubs to flip Russell to get Trea Turner... Anyway, I was and will always be a big Baez supporter and thought he could become an All-Star someday and I believe I wrote that, but no way did I see him becoming this good this soon. Cubs need to lock him up after this season or at least try. EDIT: I still think he has untapped potential and an even higher upside. All about drawing walks and becoming more patient and I think he will gradually start drawing more walks, but he'll never be a high-OBP guy. I will admit that.

  24. Yeah, I hope he performs there and dominates. I was down on him, but he's really bounced back well.
  25. *raises hand nervously* I totally see it and the potential for a high maintenance frame. He’s a big dude, might push 240+ by the time he’s in his mid-late 20s. That won’t really be what holds him back as far as developing into a SP so much as the straight fastball and rudimentary offspeeds IMO Umm, what? So on his milb player page he's listed as 6'4" and 185 lbs. and is 19 years old (turns 20 in January). Now, these pages aren't always up-to-date, but they aren't off by too much (usually). Let's say he is really 190 lbs. or something like that. You think he's adding 50 lbs. or more when he is in his mid-late 20's!?! I mean it is possible, but anything is possible... He could grow another 5 or 6 inches and start throwing even harder and become the next Big Unit. It's possible, but not very likely. Same thing with your scenario. He isn't going to be pushing 240+ and he seems fine. Not to be mean, but are you watching it in HD? I'm watching it in 720p and his forearms are good and his lower-half isn't too thick. He doesn't seem overweight or chubby or "soft" in this particular video. I'm going to mark this post and if you're still around and I'm still around and Marquez makes it all the way to the big leagues and is pitching in some form in his mid-20's... well, we will see who is right lol. EDIT: My prediction is he'll be 210-215 lbs. when he reaches his mid-late 20's (which is fine).
