    Rea will have to wear it today , because a lot of pen will probably be used tomorrow . This just isn’t a good matchup for. Rea . Lots of reds hot right now with the bats .

    Cubs haven’t announced a starter for tomorrow . It’s Rea spot but I wouldn’t be surprised if they open with a lefty ( Cabrera ) ? Reds bat Friedl lead off all the time and that would turn Elly to the Rightside . Hays could possibly be out with a foot injury . Seems like the perfect time to start a lefty and try to get 2 innings . Also coming from an off day and next Monday off as well .

    Don’t care if it is 10-0 or 2-1 , they all count the same . Sweeping series is tough . This same Rockies team took a game from the mighty Yanks last weekend

    I love the diversity of this offense They won that game stealing bags . On days like this at Wrigley , so important to have guys that can steal bags .

    Cubs sign Genesis Cabrera . Looks like they will carry 3 lefties in the pen now . Would imagine Flexen or Briske will be dfa

    I really don’t see any realistic impact arms available tbh now or at the deadline I wouldn’t give up much of anything for Alcantara . His last full season wasn’t great and he has been awful so far this year . Brewers and Cardinals aren’t trading with the Cubs . My hope is that the Nationals talk extension with Gore and realized they aren’t signing him and decide to make a trade with 2 years of control left after this season .

    Merryweather may be pitching for his roster spot , his next few outings . When Hodge comes back , way I see it it’s him or Flexen gone . Flexen gives them length when needed at the least .

    Overall , surprised by how easy hitters are laying off his slider so far .

    Bullpen tonight in a close game is basically Thielbar and Keller . I probably use Flexen over Merryvweather at this point 🥴

    This one will be difficult . Taillon struggling and Weathers looked really good last week . Velo up touching 98 at times . Pomeranz / Pressly / Palencia won’t be available . Roberts has been called up , but he isn’t going to help in high leverage . Offense will need to put up big numbers most likely to win this one .

    Saw that Counsell said he thought Palencia ran out of gas . Well Craig he threw Friday / Saturday and you warmed him up yesterday as well . So basically he has thrown 4 straight days .

    Damn that game hurts . Weathers was showing some nasty stuff last week and they get him tomorrow . They have no answers in this pen for these types of games .

    I get that the Cardinals overall schedule has been soft , but they swept the Mets in St Louis , took 2-3 in Philly and 2-3 in KC . Nootbars is an OBP machine , Donovan is a good hitter , Wilson can hit and Ivan Herrera can hit as well . Their SP has been solid . Leahy has been good in the pen and Matz has looked good in the pen as well . Not saying they are the class of the NL , but maybe they aren’t as garbage as we all thought ?

    Sweeping series in mlb is very difficult . Cubs haven’t swept one since the A’s . Would imagine Nicky Lopez will be dfa tomorrow to make room for Shaw . Also read that the Cubs are monitoring Ryan McMahon . Hopefully Shaw locks the position this time around .
