  1. I don't even think Berry is a must as long as you get 1 of Gilmore or Johnson in FA. Then you go Hooker or Adams with the 3rd pick to pair with Amos. You still need to get a 2nd CB' date=' but you don't have to spend big or use the 2nd pick for that.[/quote'] Does that get us to the Wild Card? Who knows? It's a good start. If we don't get killed with injuries/suspensions. If we have good luck in close games. If we don't go through 3 QBs. If none of the young players take a step back. There's so many ifs in football that you can't just say "well does that gets us in/to the playoffs or wild card?" The only thing you can do is try to make the best 53 man roster you can before the season starts and hope for the best. There's been teams that had mediocre roster and made it to playoffs and on the flip side, teams that look great on paper just completely suck. You can't be like "Berry is a must, but go find me two stud CBs as well." First, you got to be able to sign Berry and a stud CB or 2 in FA (if any of them are available by that time) while competing with the rest of NFL that also have $$$ to spend for them. Second, draft is a crap shoot (especially CBs) so it's hard to get just 1 elite impact player. Third, you can't just get studs everywhere or even half of the positions unless you got amazing luck (Seattle a few years ago with their drafts come to mind where they hit on everyone). Because of those 3 things, that's why it's an unrealistic expectation in a single offseason. A better expectation would be umm... Gilmore or Johnson + Tony Jefferson + either trade down with the 3rd pick or 2nd round on a CB. Even that might be a tad too much to ask for considering the other needs and depth Bears need to make to the team better overall. Gilmore or Johnson/Jefferson/Amos/rookie CB Granted... that might not be a playmaking secondary that gets a lot of turnovers (that we all want), but that's a very solid one that should give the front 7 time to get after the QB. Another option is you go Berry in FA, then sign a CB like Kirkpatrick (not sure which FA CB would be on the 2nd or 3rd tier) plus getting a CB early in the draft. Kirkpatrick/Berry/Amos/rookie CB
  2. :good: You do not need two stud CBs. Thats a pretty unrealistic expectation. If we have two stud CBs and also get any decent depth on the front 7 we better have a top 3 D. I don't even think Berry is a must as long as you get 1 of Gilmore or Johnson in FA. Then you go Hooker or Adams with the 3rd pick to pair with Amos. You still need to get a 2nd CB, but you don't have to spend big or use the 2nd pick for that.
  3. At least Dex looks 18 there. Heyward looks to be in his 20s maybe 30s. Lol
  4. I never disagreed. But honestly, what's funny is the idea that the Bears could make it to the playoffs this next year. IF Pace hits on his picks like he did last year, 2 years from now they make a push. But you still have Fox at the helm, and will Romo make it 2 years? Teams with 6+ games turnaround since 2010 Panthers '14-'15: 8 games Cowboys 15-16: 9 games Texans 13-14: 7 games Colts 11-12: 9 games Chiefs 12-13: 9 games Vikings 11-12: 7 games Jets 14-15: 6 games Eagles 12-13: 6 games 49ers 10-11: 7 games Titans 15-16: 6 games Then there was a bunch with 5 games, but that would put Bears at 8-8 next season which most likely wouldn't put them in the playoffs. The list would also grow quite a bit if you kept the 6+ games turnaround, but within 2 years instead of 1 like I have above. While I agree with you that they can make a push for playoffs in 2 year, but IF Pace does hit on his picks this coming draft like last year + FAs this year, they got a legit change to do a 6+ game turnaround like the teams I mentioned above. The idea of Bears making the playoffs next year isn't so far fetched.
  5. Nobody here watched every episodes of Gotham? That's my answer, but there's probably a SyFy show or 2 or 5 that was worse. Heroes Reborn was pretty bad too.
  6. I would've done Brett Jackson instead of Theriot, but who cares... it's amazing.
  7. Not with you at all here. Recent articles notwithstanding, I want to make every other fanbase well and truly despise the Cubs. And it's going to take more than "awww, they finally won a championship...good for them" to do that. Set new goals to make it more interesting for you. How about back to back championships...or hell, lets take aim at the Yankees three-peat from the late 90's. Best season you've ever seen? How about best 5 year period you've ever seen? The nice thing now is that any failure to accomplish any of those goals is cushioned by having won the World Series. What's the record for most consecutive division titles? Braves have it right? Let's break that.
  8. I can see that. Drafting Hooker would go a long way as he can be a playmaker/cover S. Adams would work too, although LSU used him more like a roaming SS/dime LB this season IIRC. There's always offering Berry the biggest contract for a S option too. I think Pace would rather go for a Tony Jefferson type in FA and let Amos/etc battle it out for the other starting spot. Is there any good man cover CB in FA this offseason?
  9. Bret does like to drink and party from time to time. There's an old picture of him shirtless with a drink at a pool party. Not sure if he has an actual drinking problem though. His problem is that he likes to talk before he thinks what he should say. The "Urban Meyer broke rules before getting to OSU" and "death certificate is the only thing he needs" when asked about the speed up offense and him trying to slow it down speeches for example.
  10. Don't forget about Allen as well. The more I watch him, the more I like him. Him, Goldman, Hicks plus Bullard is just crazy good.
  11. Disinterested team, lack of running game despite high quality RB, crappy OC, feud with talented DC who will likely bolt in the offseason, poorly handled personnel situations (PED suspensions, Ray McDonald, that crazed DT whose name escapes me), W-L record... The guy has taken two different teams to Super Bowls. He's clearly an adequate coach. I'd rather not turn into the Browns or 49ers where we're switching course every year or two. Until this team gets more talent, I don't see a reason to pay another buyout. He's also had crazy talented teams that went to the SB. We're about to have the first season in Bears franchise history with less than 4 wins iirc. He hasn't done anything since he was hired and has got worse imo. In other related news... I don't even want Barkley back as a backup. Just re-sign Hoyer and draft a QB or 2 or 5 and let them compete.
  12. Heard a rumor and had to check to see if it's true?
  13. How much was that? Was thinking of getting a set like that.
  14. Just no. Maybe as a backup. MAYBE. I rather try to re sign Hoyer, draft a QB in 2nd/3rd, and let those 2 compete for the starting spot. I could be convinced for a 1st round pick on QB if Bears pick like 3rd and Browns/49ers go Garrett/Allen and they have their pick of QB, but even in that case, I would rather trade down as someone will overpay to get a QB. EDIT: This is under the assumption that Cutler is indeed 100% gone.
  15. This is just incredible.
  16. I like Lewis and Lockett (especially if you have return yds in your league).
  17. The innings isn't why he got overused/worn down. It's the how many batters/pitches he faced in those innings. He almost set his career high in pitches in game 5, then had like 30 pitches 2 days later in game 6 and I forgot how many in game 7 the following night. That's a horsefeathers ton of pitches for a RP in this era. Especially for a guy who throws 100+ consistently. Also... when the last time a RP went 5.1 innings in a 4 day span in the regular season or playoffs? Then again, I don't think he was being overused. I'm just giving the argument for the other side. I'm in the camp of "if you're in the WS, all bets are off and you're doing whatever you can to win." So if you're an elite reliever like Chapman, be ready to pitch every game even if your team is up 5+ runs or down 3. It's the horsefeathers World Series.
  18. Paulson has to lead the league with the most holding calls for a TE. I don't know why he's even playing.
  19. If only no code chimes in right about now on how we're getting Jansen because his 2nd cousin- sister in law- husband's father is neighbors with Jansen's uncle and told his cousin that Jansen is seriously considering the Cubs.
  20. DAMN... I thought that was Heyward. Fowler has the best celebrations/reactions. That, Schwarber Dong vs Cole last season, his game 7 HR trot, etc..
  21. 2 disc set has the regular season/WS hightlights, clinching moments (NL Central division, NLDS, and NLCS), WS parade highlights, and a David Ross tribute. I imagine the 8 disc set is the same. I wondered if it would have more. The regular season highlights was fun to watch. It was basically Jake no hitter last out, Lester suicide squeeze, and a bunch of DONGS.
  22. Are you Wilson's brother or something? Pretty sure the past 20 or so posts you made have been about getting Justin Wilson in a trade.
