  1. I can keep up with the team and point out their follies without watching them. Wow. You must be tons of fun.
  2. I thought you were "sitting out" the remainder of this season.
  3. I'm jut glad Snayke didn't have to see this. That poor boy has suffered enough this season.
  4. The cards must really like Rzepczynski. And really hate Rasmus.
  5. Signed with the Cubs or signed a letter of intent to commit to the Aztecs? He would've signed his LOI a long time ago. http://twitter.com/#!/elliottbaseball/status/94050206831747072 Bob Elliott is the baseball columnist for the Toronto Sun. I thought so. Thanks for the clarification.
  6. Signed with the Cubs or signed a letter of intent to commit to the Aztecs?
  7. Jim Hendry in a uniform would be hilarious. Would MLB permit the use of a jazzy mobility scooter for mound visits?
  8. This isn't really the issue, however. It is perfectly acceptable to point out to Castro and Barney that they must communicate more effectively on infield fly balls. What galls people is the fact that Quade went on to publicly castigate those two players, placing a 9-1 loss (and more broadly the trajectory of the season) at their feet while absolving the vets.
  9. His comments today--much like his post facto tirade during the Marlins series--are bush league. If you think an ump botched a call, climb the dugout steps and let him know. If a player makes a miscue on the field, discuss it with him within the clubhouse. It is becoming increasingly clear that Quade is in over his head. He needs to be let go.
  10. Dempster pitched 3 poor innings, Ortiz and Grabow each surrendered homers and Pena committed 2 errors, but whatever. The veterans are doing a pretty damn good job. This one's on Castro and Barney. What the [expletive], Quade?
  11. You sir, have a future in tourism. Yeah, rather faint praise now that you mention it.
  12. It should be the only reason you go to Pittsburgh. Completely ridiculous. Pittsburgh is a terrific city. I've only been to Pittsburgh once, but I'd visit again. People were friendly, and there were several interesting taverns/restaurants in the south shore/carson street area. I agree that if you hang around by the ballpark or the old strip district on the north central side of town, there isn't a lot going on (save Church Brew Works). It's far from a cosmopolitan experience, but it's a better town than a few others I can think of (Cincinnati, St. Louis, Detroit off the top of my head). And the ballpark is fantastic, as others have stated.
  13. Gillick would replace Kenney? Or would a new role be established for him? Removing Crane Kenney would be a positive step, even if we can't rid ourselves of Hendry.
  14. Anyone know anything about Mayke Reyes? He's a 24 year old Cuban OF who is performing pretty well in the DSL: 38 Games (112 AB) .313/.469/.491/.960 with 25 BB and 18 K I can't find any info regarding his past performance in Cuba. Where does he end up?
  15. Brandon Phillips hitting a walk-off HR against the Cards? My only disappointment is that Brennaman didn't use the word "bitches".
  16. What's going on is that he refuses to throw anything else. An offspeed pitch (even a great one like Marmol's) needs a decent fastball to be completely effective.
  17. (I'm not watching) Can you tell if he is missing with the FB or slider? He's throwing mostly sliders; he's missing with both. Not missing many bats (if any, in fact).
  18. The fact that every called strike prompts a mini-fist pump celebration from Marmol is not encouraging.
