  1. Considering that the cubs were 10-10 during a span in which Dempster was on the DL and Garza pitched to a 5.24 ERA, there is a chance they might not be completely awful if/when those two are gone.
  2. ...and now Cashner is on the hook for the loss. That was fast.
  3. E) All of the Above. But mostly Flint Ironstag. I'm a fan of Bulk VanderHuge We put our faith in Blast Hardcheese.
  4. As much as I loathe MLB blackout restrictions, I'm hoping that eventually the Cubs can use these television marketing tools to the same advantage that teams like the Yankees, Rangers and Dodgers have. To have that potential revenue stream for the organization litigated away would be frustrating (although blackouts are frustrating, too!). It seems as though it may be another case of the Cubs getting to the party a bit late. Hire new FO that understands how to build through amateur draft and IFA ---> New CBA Get out from under current broadcasting contract ---> No more lucrative, exclusive TV deals As the post above notes, we'll see if this amounts to anything.
  5. Tha RZO
  6. Very nice outing thus far for Wood: 1 hit 1 BB 2 K for through 4 innings. Quite economical work as well. 47 pitches (35/12 strikes/balls).
  7. I guess I assumed he meant a change at the third position in the batting order since Baker at 1st against a righty shouldn't happen ever.
  8. Wow, Rizzo in the 3 spot. Hmm.
  9. Big picture: How does this affect Marlon's chances at the HOF?
  10. .274/.361/.494 14 HR Has there been any indication as to where he will fit in the lineup?
  11. If TT is using the same MLE calculator I typically use, NL/AL is not an option. Edit: I cannot parse simple questions.
  12. Official announcement (Per Iowa broadcast): Rizzo to the Cubs.
  13. Rizzo just missed a HR, and has now been pulled from the game...
  14. Vitters goes deep. RBI single and a HR in 2 PA.
  15. I think this marks new ground for Rawdog. This latest post is at once infuriating if read at face value while also far too longwinded and self-important to be appreciated ironically. This is a post that no one can enjoy, yet almost everyone feels compelled to engage with. Rawdog has arrived at a sort of meta-trolling, and I applaud his/her continuing efforts.
  16. Obvious caveat that he's a 21 year old pitching in the PCL, but I must admit I had no idea Miller was struggling so badly.
  17. So Shelby Miller plus what? Can you imagine the meatball insurgency that would follow Jed sending Garza to st. louis?
  18. You could also say that tomorrow's pitching matchup is Randy Wells vs. Not Chris Sale or Jake Peavy, so I like our chances. These are opponents' numbers against Gavin Floyd over the past 4 weeks (100 PA): .344/.400/.689/1.089. That's good for an 8.27 ERA, 1.79 WHIP.
  19. Nice. Let's see the old CBA off in style.
  20. A little more salary relief in exchange for a missed start? I don't know. This whole "trade is imminent" scenario seems like a long shot to me, but who knows.
  21. Koyie Hill is the Jason Voorhees of shitty catchers. I'd like to believe that he's really gone for good this time, but I can't...
  22. If he opts out and enters arbitration, that likely means that the Cubs have a 25ish YO stud corner OF on their hands. I have no problem with paying arb money to productive players in their mid twenties.
  23. http://mlblogsbrewersbeat.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/100276794_548c83c4eb.jpg
  24. Hmm. Last M's no-hitter was thrown by Chris Bosio.
