  1. let's see if they can keep the momentum over the intermission
  2. You should hear TSN. It's awful. Every Calgary hit draws 10 minutes of praise, and every Blackhawks hit draws five minutes of talk about how well the Calgary player stood up to it. it says tsn on the top
  3. both goals caused by bad pinches
  4. His minor league numbers look pretty good
  5. these versus announcers are garbage. taking every chance to rip the hawks
  6. good kill to end the period. time to regroup
  7. his quote after the game was kind of questionable too. it seemed like he was more upet that the throw got him than he was with himself for being stupid
  8. can you answer my question about dusty
  9. beimel isn't a loogy
  10. you're right, the era is a product of small sample size...except it should be bigger, not smaller. he has a 1.50 WHIP. he has not been good. and no, his whip isn't higher because of hits. it's higher because of hits and walks. like i said, the main reason dempster was suddenly good last season was because his control was much better than it had been the rest of his career. i was skeptical that he could carry that into another season after a contract year. so far he has had terrible control in both of his first 2 starts. he's not going to be a good pitcher with control like that. he's on pace for like 100+ walks so far. i'm not saying i'm giving up on him or that he sucks or anything like that yet, i was just pointing out that so far, he hasn't been good. hopefully he turns it around.
  11. Please tell me you are joking. Why? The whole "they played so they know better" line is a bunch of bull-puckey. I have no doubt that Lou is probably better at managing a 25 man clubhouse, practices, and all the other crap that a manager has to do than any of us in here probably could. But when it comes to in-game moves, I can think of 5-10 guys here off the top of my head I'd rather have making moves than lou. Actually your first line is pure bull-puckey, because I never said or insinuated any such thing. Pure fabrication on your part. To assume that anyone on here knows any more about statistics than Lou, or anyone on the Cubs coaching staffs is just plain laughable. And to say that Lou is PROBABLY better at managing a 25 man clubhouse than anyone on here is even more laughable. In fact, if i were you, I would be embarrassed. This is really too far out there to even argue any further. Believe what you want. I can always use the laugh. so did you always agree with dusty baker then? was it okay for him to bat neifi and patterson 1-2?
  12. roberts just signed an extension and sherrill is awful
  13. Dempster and Heilman have been trash? Trash is be a strong word for those 2, but they have not been very good. Yeah today was the first time Heilman was actually charged with a run, vut he has a 1.42 WHIP and has walked as many as he has struck out. His main problem last year was walks, and that has continued so far. I had (asnd still have) hopes for him returning to his 05-07 form, but so far we're getting the 2008 Heilman. As for Dempster, yeah... he has a 1.50 WHIP and a 4.50 ERA (and only because of Reed). So far he has been exactly what I was afraid of. He's had terrible control. The main difference with him last year was he suddenly had better control. I was skeptical of howl ong that could last when he's had such bad control for his while career.
  14. So far all of Hendry's offseason signings/trades have been trash. Gregg, Heilman, Miles, Bradley, Dempster...
  15. that doesn't make any sense. if his bat was slowing down a lot he should go the opposite way a lot because he can't get around on a good fastball. see jim edmonds in 2007-08, he went oppo all the time, a lot more than he did earlier in his career. derrek lee is not jim edmonds as long as lee conntinues to try and pull outside pitches (like he has been for about a year now) he's not going to be that good
  16. They offered CC 6/100 so if they like Peavy enough, they could afford him.
  17. It's not his shoulder. It's his oblique.
  18. His bat just looks reeeaallllyyyyyy slow, and that's not a good sign. He probably stopped going the other way because the slowness of his bat forces him to start early to catch up to fastballs.
  19. This is pretty much what we should expect all season. Even when he stays off the DL, he's going to be in and out of the lineup like this all year.
  20. This is why it would have been a terrible move to give Bako the job. Hill has hit well in AAA the past 2 years. Obviously he's not going to keep up this pace, but there's no reason he can't put up like a .750 OPS.
