  1. cubs trying their best to ruin the fun
  2. giants rallying; brewers in danger
  3. i know, but i was confused about the tiebreakers How would Cincy move above StL in that scenario? it was a typo, i meant if they all won
  4. i know, but i was confused about the tiebreakers How would Cincy move above StL in that scenario? cinci could still theoretically finish a game ahead of st louis if the cards had to play the DH against detroit tomorrow and lost both. but i guess it wouldn't affect home field so it won't happen.
  5. if mia/stl win and cin loses, dont we get the reds? To give you the details, the second place teams in the divisions are all seeded 4-6. The two wildcards are 7 & 8 no matter what the records are. i know, but i was confused about the tiebreakers
  6. what an immensely satisfying weekend
  7. stupid giants and phils letting the brewers in after a loss
  8. Since the Marlins are up 3-0 yes definitely if mia/stl win and cin loses, dont we get the reds?
  9. winning the division is fun, good job cubs
  10. lamet got hurt the giants just had a crushing loss in the 9th and kept the door open for the brewers and phillies
  11. That is correct according to this: https://www.mlb.com/news/cardinals-tigers-september-28-games-scenarios Passan says otherwise, if the cardinals clinch a playoff spot. Which requires some combination of 2 Cardinals wins/Phillies losses. We have the better win% no matter what in the final 2 here. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29940841/passan-final-week-mlb-never-seen-before but in the very next paragraph, he says this that's from the 22nd. i think he forgot about (or dismissed) the possibility of the cardinals catching the cubs in the division, which would also affect home-field advantage.
  12. what is our updated playoff opponent scenarios? If they win the division, they play the worst 2nd place team if they still somehow blow the division, they'd play at San Diego
  13. the marlins won again, so it's actually probably good if the cardinals win at least one more this weekend. the 3rd division winner plays the third second place team, so hopefully the marlins finish behind stl and we get them instead of the cardinals
  14. I thought they will play if it determines home field
  15. What did he do? bases loaded and 2 outs in the 7th, protecting a 3-run lead. he bought in rodon, who just came off the IL and hadn't pitched in nearly 2 months. also he hadn't made a relief appearance since 2015. it went poorly. now they're going to blow their division if the cubs somehow win a game or 2 this weekend.
  16. oh fun, now they're relying on the brewers and the tigers Why are we so scared of the Cards? I get that the Cubs are crap but every time the Cards win a game or two, there's this "here come the Cards" sentiment. And obviously they could win 6 or 7 straight or run off a 6-1 stretch. After all, the Cubs had a 9-1 stretch. But the Brewers are basically the same as the Cards. Milwaukee just took 3 of 5 from the Cards a week and a half ago. The Cards also already split a DH against Detroit this month and lost 2 of 3 to the Royals. They're mediocre. They'll probably split tomorrow and split the games Sat and Sun. And if the Cubs can't win a game against the WS, the Cards would still have to sweep Detroit. Their longest win streak is 4 games and their best 7 game stretch is 5-2. i understand that all logic says the cubs will win the division
  17. with the seasons the hitters have had, i don't see how you possibly fix the offense. the last 2 offseasons were our chances at that. kb/baez/schwarber/willson are all having unthinkably bad seasons compared to the previous year. who is going to give up legit assets for any of them when they're coming off those seasons and have limited control left? so basically, changing the offense will mean dumping these guys for next to nothing. and then what do we replace them with, with limited pieces coming back, and no money to spend? theo has completely backed himself into a corner and i don't see any way out of it. as funny as it is, going into next season with the same offensive core and hoping they rebuild value is probably the most logical plan outside of a full rebuild. lol
  18. accept the inevitable and this weekend will be a lot easier Just because you want it to happen and be miserable doesn’t mean we should expect it. on monday you'll somehow be baffled this happened again
  19. still not worried about the division? Not really and him having a big injury helps us for next year seeing as he took a leap here. It’s still only a 2 run game in the 5th and the Cardinals bullpen isn’t great and they’re getting in to it soon. Kim is at 80+ pitches. accept the inevitable and this weekend will be a lot easier
  20. still not worried about the division?
  21. that would mean the cubs go 1-3 the rest of the way and the cardinals go 5-0. in that scenario, only 1 game (though sunday) goes their way, which is why 2 is basically the number So this article says that the DH would be played if it’s for the division also, which makes sense because the reasoning for the Cards playing it if they could catch the Pads was for home field. So magic number is still 3 since the Cards have the tiebreaker over us. oh fun, now they're relying on the brewers and the tigers
  22. rick renteria just fucked the white sox so badly
  23. unfortunately the rest of their rotation is full of the type of pitchers that give cubs fits: regular ones
