  1. Yep. A couple of excellent drafts in the last couple of years, a good trade and just a ton of power. Upton is ridiculously good.
  2. Nobody is expecting him to start reguarly in LF when Soriano is back and healthy. We're talking about Murton starting while Soriano is out and Lou's tendencies to give up on promising young players when they don't perform right away. I'm sorry if I'm picking on you, but has he really shown a tendency to do this? Maybe Pie is evidence enough, but historically, he's had young guys that were given plenty of chances to succeed in Arod and Griffey. I know Pie is not of their caliber, but as our top position prospect I agree he should be getting more opportunities.
  3. What happened today? Some guy tried to dump his beer on Nate McLouth as well
  4. Never said that. And I'll give it until the end of June until Bruce is up. Rumor has it Dusty has wanted Bruce up since spring training, but Krivsky wouldn't allow it. Damn Dusty. Where the heck is Bruce gonna play? Oh, and I love the whole Dusty taking credit for Votto's awesomeness in the OP. Great stuff.
  5. BTW, did Gammons seem to think this trade was a good idea? Just wondering if he's off his rocker yet.
  6. But every fan base has obnoxious tools. If the Cubs do have more than most other fan bases, it's only because they also have a bigger fan base to sample from. Exactly. When people name obnoxious fan bases, they say Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs. What do those fan bases have in common? Seems to me that the smaller market fans just want to make themselves feel better. Phillies fans are awful, and not among the biggest. Oh, and it is much easier to tolerate the drunk people when you are drunk with them. I can't imagine trying it otherwise.
  7. Sure; Coco Crisp is on the Red Sox, and Jacque was on the Cubs
  8. Nevermind the 59 stolen bases. DONE
  9. Did Dusty Baker make that lineup or something?
  10. I'll be ok with it as long as it means he gets to take his lumps against lefties as well
  11. Did Dusty make out this lineup card? No, but a dude who thinks a lot like him did. What I've seen from Lou this year is really not very encouraging.
  12. The Sox already had plenty of power. Lee is the better offensive player when it comes to HR and RBI and AVG but what Podsednik gave the Sox was a player who could manufacture runs, a player who could beat out an infield hit (40 in 2005, 16 of those bunts), a player who could get on base (.419 OBP leading off the game in 2005) in the first inning and be at 2B by the time the meat of the order came up. He was the spark for the Sox in '05 and the offense suffered when he was out with an injury later in the year, which almost cost the Sox. Pods reminded my alot of what Bobby Denier did for the Cubs in '84. So say what you will about old baseball traditional positions but there is a reason why they are traditions.....it's because they work more often than not and in 2005, it worked like a charm. This is garbage. The 2005 White Sox did not win the world series by manufacturing runs. They won by pitching out of their GD minds and hitting a ton of homeruns. They won despite Podsednik and if you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. EDIT: 200 HR, to be exact, good for 4th among AL teams
  13. This is disgusting. No, seriously, I'm disgusted. I know that you are a Brewer fan, but who in their right mind (who isn't a Brewer fan because Brewer fans aren't in their right minds) would take Pods over Carlos Lee? This was a trade that helped the Brewers IMMENSELY. Why would you pretend like you gave up anything to get this trade done? Like, anything at all? The belief that there are magical people that lead your club to some sort of prosperity is disgusting. It really disgusts me. Your leadoff hitter is the guy who gets on base the most and if you don't believe that then why am I even talking to you. Stupid waste of drunk time.
  14. Yeah, great outfield but FTH is with Hart over Upton?
  15. http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5540/grammarkv8.gif what's your point? My point? I posted a picture of a grammar text book. What the heck do you think my point is? That post makes a hardcorecubsfan fan post look like a Noam Chomsky essay. It reads like one of those fourth grade Grammar class problems where you have to fix the paragraph. Crap that was done a little preemptively. So did Dusty get booed or not? Some of us don't get Comcast sports
  16. Stfu you nerd to a guy with 20k posts is a poor start on this board This post makes me nostalgic for Cubs.com. "I swear I'm not a troll"! Isn't that the first thing they teach you in troll school? Love, love, love the pajamas comment

  18. i'm not so sure... 2004: 687 PA, 168 K (24.5% K/PA) 2005: 481 PA, 118 K (24.5% K/PA) 2006: 498 PA, 94 K (18.9% K/PA) 2007: 503 PA, 65 K (12.9% K/PA) So? Whether it's strikeouts, pop outs or ground outs, he still makes the same amount of them. Last year he struck out almost 30 times less than 2006 in only two less at bats and his OBP still dropped. Dude you were just proven wrong, give up already. What? No he wasn't. Even though Corey's strikeouts have dropped he is still getting on base at the same low rate No feed-y the trolls more like don't feed the cubs fan. Okay, I think that's enough, Meph

  20. Orel Hershiser's 59 scoreless innings streak
  21. Come on, Meph, it's not funny anymore.
  22. I didn't expect him to say that Neifi sucked out loud. Couldn't he have told a much more defensible lie like "Neifi deserved to be there," or something? Yeah you're probably right. We Hawkeyes have got to stick together. Your avatar is an Iowa wrestling logo, no?
  23. This was pretty funny from the article: Zambrano said he has cut down ''a little bit'' and compared it to when Bartolo Colon told his team he was on a diet. ''When you see him in the clubhouse, he's eating fruit,'' Zambrano said, ''but you walk by his room at the hotel, and there's six pizza boxes Thanks, guys for pointing out the highlights for those of us too lazy to read the story!
