  1. ...what? Just a hunch. Pie may well struggle early and Johnson is loaded with grit and play-the-game-the-right-way-edness. I see him as a Theriot with more talent. Whatever keeps Pierre off the team.
  2. That would be fun I feel too bad for Reds fans to enjoy this much. While Dusty was a cancer for us, we didn't have the resources for him to totally misuse like they do in Cincy. Here is the first chance for the Reds to compete in a long time and they are gonna ride Patterson and Hatteburg down to the cellar instead and destroy Bailey and Cueto. I don't really care that they are in our division; if we don't win our division this year, then we know we don't deserve to see October anyway. I wanna see what these kids can do; i've been excited about it since I saw Bruce play in the futures game.
  3. +1 You can't play for the Pirates and overrated.
  4. I was going to read this article until I saw that the link was to Fox Sports. I'm studying; I don't need something to make me dumber.
  5. i feel sorry for the naive reds fans though I don't ok your right They should listen to us, if they don't, it's their problem Well that may be true, but I feel sorry for the Reds fans that saw this coming. All that young talent and promise pretty much down the drain. On paper, if the Reds start the right guys all season, they could be legitimate contenders this year. As long as Baker is at the helm, there is just no way this is happening.
  6. I'll be happy and not the least bit surprised if he hits .390/.500 with 30 HR and 50 doubles low end .380/.450 25 HR
  7. FWIW (which is absolutely nothing), John Kruk picked us to win the World Series. I would really rather he didn't do that, but would instead just go away.
  8. You've got some pretty stupid priorities. Your [expletive]. This HAS to be a joke, right?
  9. Yeah I was wondering why they didn't do it Polo Grounds style by skewing home plate so as to make two short porches instead of one ridiculous one
  10. I like the start of Encarnacion being thrown under the bus as well. God it's amazing how many good players the Reds have that Dusty is going to despise because he's Dusty.
  11. This is being addressed in the predictions thread started by Laura. Not sure that this is necessary.
  12. I'm thinking that Lou is trying to ease Soriano into the #5 spot in the lineup, where he belongs. I'm calling this too optimistic. Soriano will be right back in the leadoff spot once his legs are "100%," whatever the hell that means.
  13. Hopefully plenty of saves too. You just quoted the guy who already made your argument but executed it better. So well, in fact, that you missed it. You missed the fact that I was correcting a mistake of his. I can't tell if you're joking or not. Well, I wasn't, but now that I read the 1st post I guess I should say I was. I never completely read the original post. I see what he was saying now. Yikes
  14. Worrying about spring training W/L is almost as pointless and nonsensical as making personnel decisions based on spring training results
  15. Shh don't ask questions he might change his mind
  16. If I remember correctly, after the first couple of ST games last year Lou got mad that they weren't playing good fundamental baseball Oh. Okay so they're both idiots.
  17. Hopefully plenty of saves too. You just quoted the guy who already made your argument but executed it better. So well, in fact, that you missed it.
  18. Meh on errors. He gets a lot more chances than Theriot and while he does botch routine plays, his bigger number of chances makes for a bigger number of errors. CubbieBum, you are in over your head. You are new here and you are making tired arguments that just don't fly here. No one save for DeuceBaseman probably agrees with what you've said here. So take a step back and read some other threads and try FJM. The way to evaluate players changed with this little book called Moneyball that everyone worth anything on here endorses. Old-timey attributes like speed, batting average, RBI, runs etc aren't the way to evaluate a player - they are a way to overvalue him. And given that Theriot only demonstrates two of these meaningless attributes with any proficiency doesn't help your case. To the person who suggested that arguing with new members who are clueless and somewhat set in their ways is useless (Constable?), I think it kind of worked in the case of LLF. Plus it's fun.
  19. There was also this guy named Johan something.
  20. Ozzie and Lou are not doing the same thing. Lou called his players out during the season, during meaningful games, while Ozzie is an idiot.
  21. This. They'll still be pretty good, though. That said, I wish Davis the best.
  22. Tired of practically losing all their spring training games, Guillen had a close door meeting with his players last week, and really let them have it. Eventhough it's only spring training, Ozzie didn't want them to get into the habit of losing. Lou Piniella did the same thing with the Cubs last year in spring training, although for the Cubs and Sox there has been different results. The Cubs after Lou's tirade went on a winning streak whereas the White Sox continue to lose games.
  23. Given that Vitters is on there, I don't think the list is saying that at all.
  24. Carlos Gomez can't hit. I don't want him on my fantasy team in any capacity, aside from the SBs.
