  1. My favorite part of the draft coming up
  2. Ohh I get it, because we're fellating him
  3. This post doesn't make it clear what your answer is. I want them to do as well as they possibly can every year. But in some years that could be 75 wins, 85 wins or 90 wins. Actually winning the world series is definitely the most important goal. But getting to the World Series would be a huge step. Clearly everybody is dying to see AC000000 (and maybe that's how it would look no matter if they won or lost in the world series). I've seen the Bears win a Super Bowl. So getting to one wasn't as big as seeing the Cubs get into one. Still, it was pretty darn cool to at least have the team make it after all these years. I would not take that bet with the Bears. They need to win it all now. But after so many horrible seasons, and all those disastrous playoff appearances, actually winning 2 series, and 8 total playoff games (including 2 theoretical WS wins) would be so much more than I've ever experienced as a Cubs fan. I would view it was the next step, and then take my chances the next year. Ideally this is a 95+ win team that racks up a division, NLDS, NLCS and WS win. But I'm not sure they are good enough for that, and division, NLDS, NLCS (plus a couple WS wins) would be pretty darn cool. My answer was to the "would you rather they miss the playoffs or break your heart" form of your question. I want them to go as far as possible every year and while I wouldn't be satisfied with a pennant, I wouldn't be as disappointed as if they missed the playoffs altogether. So, I'm with you.
  4. I love the implication that sarcasm has to do with anything being green. Brilliant!
  5. This was pretty easy. I want them to do as well as they possibly can, every year
  6. Were you watching on gameday or something? Only one was hit on the ground. The other was a line drive and both of them were smoked. What do you mean they were hit softly? They were hit hard. Where does it say anything about them getting hit softly? I see adjectives like "line drive" and "smoked"
  7. I don't think so, unless you are a fantasy owner. Aside from one season, he never stole bases with great efficiency, and his OBP isn't really high enough to make it an issue anyway. He is still fast enough to leg out a lot of doubles, and his XBH are his main asset. If his bat speed goes, that's an issue. I'm much more concerned with what it does to his defense. Great range in left was a major part of his value. He never ever ever had great range in left. Despite his speed, he gets terrible reads on balls out there
  8. different country. different name. new stadium. same crappy ball club. Same club that terrorizes us despite folding for everyone else.
  9. Hmm my point just got more relevant, so I'll reiterate: Over the last ten games, Soriano (6 PAs) is out OPS-ing Mike Fontenot (21 PAs). UGH
  10. This makes no sense. Soriano - 6 ABs Fontenot - 20 ABs You sure?
  11. HAHAHA Soriano is out-OPSing Fontenot in the last ten games
  12. Justin Upton will probably go to the Hall of Fame
  13. Winnar. Soto should bat no lower than fifth
  14. WHY DO ALL YOUR LINEUPS HAVE SOTO SEEING THE LEAST OR SECOND-LEAST PLATE APPEARANCES?!?!
  15. Is Colin our new Bob's Keeper with a more promising frequency of posts? Please let it be true!
  16. Correct. The power that Cedeno has shown thus far makes him the clear choice. Besides the bomb he hit tonight, he has hit some really deep doubles that Theriot can only dream about doing, and hasn't even come close to doing in twice as many PAs. Eff Theriot's .893 OPS right now
  17. Fred - while we have seen lots of lefties and beat them handily so far, Morales is not "another left hander." We haven't seen anyone who throws 100 mph and certainly not someone who does so from the left side of the plate. I (almost) hope Pie sits this one out because Morales might make him look silly. I do have confidence in the rest of our guys. Lets take this series before the Rockies realize that they are actually a really good ballclub. Go Cubs!
  18. He'll hit more than 20 2Bs but other than that I would be really happy with that production
  19. Did we manage two trolls in one thread here?
  20. Ooh, Derwood jumped the gun just a little bit
  21. Can we please stop doing this? It's really confusing. I'm not sure who started it, but I would like to stop it. Such a line goes BA/OBP/SLG. So your line looks like this - .230/.300/.300 Your above line would be an interesting, and favorable, line for Felix but I know you didn't mean Felix would OPS .900 at his floor. Let's also assume that all of us here can add OBP and SLG for ourselves. I'm sorry for the mini-rant, and I don't mean to pick on you, but you are the latest culprit. Back to the hyperbole!
  22. Are you sure you aren't thinking of Mike Greenberg?
  23. Not necessarily true. Respectfully disagree. Major-league pitchers are better, but they aren't 120 points of batting average better. If Pie tanks completely this season, it'll be because he tanked, not the jump from AAA to the majors. I disagree with you. ML pitchers are miles better. Ever hear of Roosevelt Brown? Julio Zuleta? Trenidad Hubbard? Those are all guys who at completely ripped AAA pitching for multiple years. None of them amounted to anything in the majors. Triple A is full of journeymen who will never be major league pitchers. Though, ML pitching is watered down, most of the league isn't Les Walrond. There is a huge difference in being able to hit an average ML pitcher and being able to hit a AAA pitcher. We all hate Jason Marquis, but he is so much better than your run of the mill AAA pitcher that it's not funny. What's really not funny, though, is that he makes like 20 times more money than those guys
