  1. Anyone who works for Jeff Loria gets ridiculous props from me. I'd still give the honor to Dave Dombrowski
  2. Two thoughts: 1) 2) that is an effing steal
  3. That was an awful lot of effort for an over-the-top-sarcastic post. It was a nice read, though
  4. I kind of like this. I would like to add that I believe any game a team wins on the road in extras should be a should-have-lost game. I think we have three of those this year, and that would help balance out our should-have-won games
  5. Can somebody give me a recap on what he throws? It's been a long time. I think his fastball touches the mid-90s and he may throw a plus breaking pitch. Thanks.
  6. Not what I've heard at all. Electric fastball and no big-league-worthy breaking/off speed pitches. We should do fine
  7. Scarlet Johansson makes me feel funny in my pants
  8. You must have missed the memo. We have declared war on adverbs on this forum. Take your grammatical correctness to Desipio!
  9. Your absolutely tight. Cubs dont need a second baseman at all. However, we do need a leadoff hitter, and the most available just happens to be a second baseman, and since our second basemen have been productive, but not irreplaceable, its a good fit. No, we don't
  10. I remember going to a game in the 30's and sitting in those luxury seats. They folded out into a sleeper sofa and came with an automatic awning if it rained. they want to restore it to it's original look? i think they should mandate that every man in attendance where's a wool suit and a bowler hat Hardcore just got way too excited over that
  11. but...but...he made a diving catch the other day!
  12. Right. This is just another reason to suspect that this is only a posturing move by the MLBPA to avoid looking negligent in the matter. I see no way this thing goes anywhere.
  13. The Cardinals could start 8 Little Leaguers and Albert Pujols from now on and would still probably play at least .500 ball the rest of the way. As opposed to what they're doing now...?
  14. The real question is, why hasn't Billy Beane done this already? there has to be something we don't know about
  15. I miss watching Reynolds and Kruk argue both sides of a completely asinine issue. http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2006/04/i-cant-believe-what-im-watching.html That is precisely the argument I was thinking of. Thanks, Truffle!
  16. well this is a little ironic. Don't ya think?
  17. I picked cinco de mayo because it was the closest to my actual birthday, the fourth. Although it did suck this year being that it was the weekend before finals and all. Last year was awesome because I was in France and no one gave a damn about finals week.
  18. No. FJM posted a broadcast he did where he was apparently surprised that, on average, more runs scored in an inning resulting from a leadoff walk than a leadoff HR. He claimed this was "unconventional wisdom" I think it was the other way around. He had the whole 'revolving door' idea in his head regarding people getting on base and was surprised to hear that a leadoff homer led to more runs. You're right, thats what I meant. I got confused in my wording about what he believed versus what was actually the truth. The basic idea is the idiotic notion that a homerun kills a rally while a walk ignites it

  20. it's as if he's a former pitcher who used to throw in the high 90's This. What should surprise you is his hitting, NOT his arm
  21. That may table the sample size debate once and for all. Beyond awesome!
  22. Yeah, but right now they need someone to give them some solid innings and what if Gallagher imoresses them enought to replace Lieber or Marquis? Woah, it took me too long to figure out what that meant. And short of breaking Orel's scoreless innings streak, I don't think anything Gallagher does impresses enough because he had a bad 11 innings or so last year and Lou is a raving lunatic.
  23. I think this thread has become superfluous since we call Lou an idiot in pretty much every thread now
