  1. x2. This totally my "big moment" of the regular season (so far). It really felt like a big (i.e., needed) moment. The ship just took off after that.
  2. I totally agree with those citing Kris Bryant's non-dong related baseball skills. I had no clue he was so valuable as a base runner, and his glove not being a negative is huge. Jorge Soler has been my most negative surprise. I also thought he'd be the best of the young guys. Based on what he's done this year, it wouldn't bother me at all to see him shipped for pitching, something I never would have fathomed this past spring.
  3. I hope the La Stella experiment is over soon. I'd rather Maddon roll w/ of Baez/Castro, regardless of opposing starting pitcher's handedness.
  4. I'm fine w/ the rebuild/The Plan because I'm not convinced that short-term band aids would have accomplished more than giving the f.o. less draft pool money, and going through with some of the long-term contracts would have been a drain, and a waste on teams w/out resources to fill-out the roster with meaningful talent. We'll see how this turns out, because I also agree that we shouldn't assume so much about the future. I am glad, however, that early returns look promising.
  5. Bryant's home batting line is the main reason I want to see the Wild Card game in Wrigley. That, plus winning the division is over anyway. Done. That POV has nothing to do w/ being scared, or having some sort of lovable loser mentality.
  6. YES! Our very own Nuke Laloosh
  7. Standard or PPR scoring? Regardless, I'd lean towards keeping Forsett. Trestman is at least good for making RB's productive, especially in the passing game.
  8. Matt Garza had too good a year in 2011 cost us Carlos Correa [expletive] Hendry cost us Archer AND Correa.
  9. I think the Cubs are 0-2 when previously 9 games over .500 (even going on skids for a while thereafter), so please, break through today & get to that 10 game over mark.
  10. When you're relying on Clayton Richard, Dallas Beeler, and an injured Tsuyoshi Wada for the 5th spot, I think starting pitcher is clearly the biggest need. Plus, what real difference-maker is available as a bat + easily slots into the everyday lineup? Another starting pitcher provides a real impact, IMO.
  11. The offense is horrible; dead last in pretty much all team offensive stats over the last 30 days.
  12. Kaplan (on Kap & Haugh) thinks Hamels is coming to the Cubs.
  13. I'm totally down for that, although it's beyond optimistic given the power outage the lineup has displayed over the last month. There's been lots of complaints about lack of hitting w/ RISP, but the real issue is lack of power/SLG. Going into last night, I believe the team batting avg overall was .239, and w/ RISP it was .230, so a meaningless disparity.
  14. Coming into today, the Cubs trailed the Astros by like 47 dongs too. We were promised more dongs!
  15. You need to pitch a shutout today Jake. No big deal, get it done.
  16. Good thing is that the Castro haters were still wrong for most of five years. Bad news is, i agree. I'm ready to make Castro a bench player/utility IF once Javy gets a couple games at AAA. Do you remember how bad Javy was last year? It's far from a guarantee that would even be a positive move. Castro has been so bad, I'd happily roll Baez out there & assume the MIF defense is no worse (perhaps/probably better). Javy at least has the potential to run into a HR. Makes me sad to feel this way, but I do.
  17. When seeing the [expletive] Len takes on twitter for having the audacity to say no hitter during a no hitter, I find it easy to believe that the biggest meatball fans of any team could dislike just about anything. This is what I was going to suggest, almost verbatim. Cards fans are so [expletive] sanctimonious.
  18. I hope the Cubs can run into a couple dongs today because the offense still looks shaky at best and that Kyle has his best changeup today for Gordon/Yelich/Bour.
  19. I'd give up Schwarber for a Sonny Gray-type guy. I like Hamels just fine, but I'd rather roll the dice on a FA TORP this coming offseason, spending only $$$ (& losing 1st rd pick in 2016).
  20. :-s The magician made 2 Starlin BB appear tonight...
  21. Nah, we'd just end up w/ a team full of broke players who need to find side gigs. Better times ahead. We get the Mets w/out having to face Harvey; just hope old man Bartolo serves up a few meatballs to Rizzo & Bryant & we do well against LHP, so Niese doesn't worry me..
  22. Yay, no Harold Reynolds in the booth tonight!! Boo, we get Kruk & Schilling. Our offense's RISP issues has to end at some point, right?
  23. Stupid Dodgers w/ their fat wallets.
