  1. Still scratching my head over why someone disagreed w/ me in last night's game thread when I said the Cubs suck on the road.. Anywho, will people please stop assuming that the division is somehow gonna fall into our laps? It'll make September a little less painful... I really miss the patient Cubs offense from the first 2 months (great job, btw, by Fred in showing us the numbers)
  2. It wont be hard, we wont score any runs and Harden will only go 5 or 6 innings, then the Bulpen will allow 3 or 4 runs. Yup..sounds like the correct recipe to me. Hope the Cubs hitters can go back to being patient.
  3. And it's worth noting that he threw all of 7, count 'em 7 low-stress pitches today. One figures he'll be okay to go tomorrow if needed. I counted 8. How many did AZ Phil have him down for? Oh, has it been proven to everyone's satisfaction that AZ Phil can indeed count? If so, I too want to know....
  4. The Cubs suck on the road; Wandy tough at home. I think Z pitches a gem, but we find a way to lose (looking at you Cubs offense)..
  5. mlb.tv for me.. Mosaic, when it works, is actually kind of cool.
  6. I was one of those in the other thread making the assumption that Kosuke would turn it around... It was merely me being overly hopeful since I had no basis on which to make such an assertion. Dude does look really bad; I hope he figures things out quickly.
  7. It'll be nice to have Alf back with the Chicago Sorianos....just seemed odd to not have the team's namesake in the lineup all this time
  8. Need to see Rosner (I think?) write about how Pujols doesn't hustle
  9. If that goes back to being a strict platoon when Soriano gets back, it should be fine. Edmonds may not OPS .900 against RHP all year, but he should be good for .750+, which is adequate enough. RJ is a fairly productive hitter against lefties. I agree but what worries me is how well Sori will come back from his injury. If he's back and doing his thing what you wrote is fine but if he isn't, what the Cubs have now imo won't win it all. More production is needed out of left and DeRosa/Johnson/Ward don't do it for me. The truth is, the chance of the best team going into the playoffs winning the World Series is only marginally better than the worst playoff team's chances. I only bring this up because it is a huge pet peeve of mine when anyone plays the "they won't have enough to win it all" card. If you're in the playoffs, you have enough to win it all. It's not romantic, it's not what everyone wants to hear, but it's pretty much the truth. Of course you're right...that can't be refuted, I think. BUT, I'd rather the probability of success were enhanced by having better players if possible....
  10. I'm trying to figure out a way to word this so I'm not accused of wishing for a Cubs player to fail, but... I have a feeling we would've been better off if Edmonds had simply remained at his level of suckage rather than shown this recent revival. It's been pointed out in another thread that a couple weeks (til the trading deadline) isn't enough time to force Hendry to make a move for CF if Edmonds were to start sucking again. I think his recent play is a mirage...I truly hope I am wrong. I just don't feel comfortable counting on him & RJ for the stretch run & playoffs. Yes, I do know the rest of the lineup is solid so it can probably w/stand CF being mediocre. I'd just like to minimize our exposure as much as possible. That's all I'm saying...
  11. If you want to put me in the smartass crowd, at least give me the opportunity to post something worthy. All I simply did in that post was put in my $0.02 on the argument without denigrating anyone else. I put forth absolutely no effort to rebuke any of your opinions in that post. There wasn't anything personal in that post whatsoever. Apparently, you are in serious need of some reading comprehension skills. If you're somehow linking me adding my opinion in that post to being a smartass, then you're either a) an idiot, or b) you're way too sensitive to post on any board on the internet as you can't tolerate anyone who disagrees with you. If you fall in category a, then just say so and we'll all start ignoring you instead of riling you up. If you're in category b, then you need to stay away from the internet for the sake of your own stress level and well-being as you obviously can't handle it. But dude, wrigley isn't a professional message board poster, so he can't be expected to employ reading comprehension skills...
  12. Yup, you... We just need the cataclysmic earthquake to happen so Chicago is closer to being on the West Coast...
  13. Only the gray boxes are blacked out. You're good to go. Then why isn't the game available on Extra Innings? I don't have extra innings, so I have no idea. But I've never been blacked out of a game on mlb.tv that didn't have that dumbass little gray box beside the feeds. Today had better not be the exception. Werd...if I don't get this game (whether b/c of blackout or typical mlb.tv streaming ineptness), someone is gonna get hurt...very badly--I'm looking at you FOX & MLB.
  14. Not sure if it's b/c it's still early morning, but the mlb.tv schedule doesn't make it clear to me that this game will definitely be available. It shows the symbols for the blacked-out games, but there are no symbols denoting availability for other games.. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk159/feverfive/Picture1-1.png
  15. That, plus the near-certainty that Geo will have another slump---all payers hit a rough patch (or patches) during the season. Kosuke will be o.k....I think he's just to good to look so bad for much longer.
  16. Saturday's game will air on MLBTV because the Fox blackout doesn't start until the 1:10 starts and the Cubs game is at 1:05. Welll, maybe I was a bit hasty then. Nah, I'm sure streaming will be screwed up somehow. Thanks for the heads-up...
  17. This. HAS to be skyballer YES And nice job ripping off my idea when the Cubs released Prior. :P and kudos to you for changing your name I let you, the voters, decide and you guys decided I should keep my name. and that's what a representative form of government is all about....or somethin'
  18. So, mlb.tv subscribers are screwed too (I don't live in Chicago)?? Figures, I pay MLB every damn year like a fool for enhanced mlb.tv, and either the streaming is forked-up, or the Saturday game I want to watch is blacked-out. Why I keep paying for this is beyond me...though Mosaic is cool when it actually works.
  19. They were talking about the Sabathia trade. Yeah, I was ready to start getting worried, but then realized Showalter was talking about the CC trade..
