  1. I was thinking the same thing. It's the new sample size. I don't think you can all hyperbole the word of choice in this thread because of sample size. This thread is a lock to go another 10 pages. hyperbole?
  2. Every time he opens his mouth something stupid comes out of it. I suppose, though, if you didn't count Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Reading, then yeah, MLS teams could compete. you forgot bolton, portsmouth, and newcastle (with a healthy owen) on that list.
  3. duh. like the movie rocky vee. that was awesome.
  4. Really long term, it's a lock to be broken with advances in medical technology. I wouldn't bet against players regularly playing until they're 50 or 60, if not indefinitely in 200 years. i was thinking along these lines myself
  5. i think this for sure
  6. I don't get the Bradley thing. Feilhaber seems ahead of him as far as tactical ability. That said, neither one of them really wows me. They both seem to have a Reyna-esque quality about them, and I hate me some Claudio Reyna. That leads me to an observation. I know it's just CONCACAF jokers we've been playing lately, but doesn't it seem that the US attack just seems much more dangerous than it did a year ago? We've generating chances even against packed in defenses, switching fields, playing nice combinations to send guys free...it's just the finishing that seems to not be there. Is it Bradley letting these guys play a more free flowing attacking style, the fact that Reyna isn't there slowing everything down, or the opposition? Or is it a bit of both? +1 on Jozy Altidore, and an additional shout out to Gabriel Ferrari. Very much looking forward to those two. i'm very glad he's decided to play for the u.s.
  7. yes, yes, and yes.
  8. Ward was talkin rehab earlier in the week and playin the DH for IOWA Ward will be back as early as Monday. great
  9. Where was the Catcher in all this? I can't believe nobody walked down the first base line with Lee. i really believe they were arguing about the ball being foul.
  10. it still makes me laugh that z's belt came off. like he was in the bathroom and couldn't be bothered to get completely dressed before bolting onto the field.
  11. i think the ump was having a discussion about whether the ball hit lee's bat. i read something about "foul ball" on his lips.
  12. the only thing i can even imagine being said that would set lee off like that would be something racially centered or something about his daughter. just trying to read lips, i'd be surprised if either of those topics were discussed. seems like lee felt it was intentional and took exception to it.
  13. apparently, he has a new catcher already lined up:
  14. and fox soccer channel.
  15. guess i'm just full of dissent today. one thing i think that the team lacks is someone to step up when the game's on the line. i feel like we miss so many big opportunities, especially on goal, and never really put teams away when it counts. also, i have to say, i am most disappointed with the play of onyewu.
  16. that's funny b/c i was thinking that he was finally learning to settle a bit and go forward with the ball. i hate it when he spazzes all out and looks like he's just dribbling in circles. i also wish we could get someone other than landon to take corners.
  17. it seems to me that wieters high value is predicated on his remaining at catcher, which doesn't sound like a lock anyway.
  18. He'll be lucky to make the majors in 4-5 years. There's no conflict with his position at 3B. he's got a few years before he has to be in 40-man and then, what, 4 years of options left? i'm not worried about aramis blocking him at all.
  19. a couple of choice quotes from a post at bcb
  20. i thought i read that he got pneumonia this year, explaining the low BA plus, according to my rudimentary calculations, he slugged like 0.740. (of course, this is from the site that said he walked a grand total of ZERO times this year, which can't be right. if it is, it does explain the organization's fascination.) Cypress Baseball Stats
  21. a sure-fire bust AND a liar? great.
  22. i thought i read that he got pneumonia this year, explaining the low BA
  23. per ESPN's request. you really think it takes the NFL teams all 10 minutes to make their picks? No way, but ESPN has to get their highlight reels and talking heads air time between picks plus i'm sure the drays don't mind the airtime in espn.
