  1. hm. looks like jerry springer's set got an update.
  2. if we get to game 5, we'll play on tuesday, so that would be lilly's normal rest If Lilly pitches game 5, that'd be his normal rest because of the day off between games 4 and 5. Damn, you beat me to it. :) pretty sure i get the cookie this time
  3. just my liver and some of the weaker brain cells...thankfully, no pics
  4. if we get to game 5, we'll play on tuesday, so that would be lilly's normal rest.
  5. fair enough, but i wasn't questioning the call from soto, just that he was given the authority to make it.
  6. i certainly understand this sentiment, but would you rather have z going on 3 days rest for game 4 (1 fewer day off than typical) or 5 for game 5 (1 more day off than typical)? one thing i've always heard (though not really sure is true) is that z on longer-than-normal rest is "too strong," which saps his normal movement. for my money, i'd rather have z on short rest than marquis at all, which seems to be the only other alternative.
  7. my girlfriend pointed out the grease on his hat. i kinda forgot about it until just now...
  8. i told my girlfriend that after i saw marMOL's first slider.
  9. (sorry if this doesn't warrant a new thread, but i didn't want to hijack any others.) something i read this morning struck me as really odd: does anyone know if the cubs have the policy of never calling pitches from the dugout? i'm not sure i like a rookie catcher calling pitches for a rookie pitcher in the late innings of the post-season. maybe the fastball was the right call there and what the bench would have called anyway, but i don't really like this.
  10. hey roast, you gonna change your name if the cubs win the whole thing? No mention of my name?? minimum 10000 posts required. sorry.
  11. hey roast, you gonna change your name if the cubs win the whole thing? D---GoatGotRoasted I like it. i concur
  12. hey roast, you gonna change your name if the cubs win the whole thing?
  13. and miss out on this? no way.
  14. i don't think there was any way marshall was going to make the roster after pitching, like, 2/3rds of an inning in september. and i'm assuming fontenot's on just to give another lh bat off the bench
  15. man, i would love to have that mike fontenot back.
  16. pretty sure that's a big fat 'no' since tbs is running the show (and it was ruled they don't have to show a game in a local market just b/c it's local).
  17. the game tonight (rocks/pads) is on espn radio, so i assume the nlds will be as well. certainly espn radio or westwood one. what i typically do is map out my route, look for the local affiliates, and then program my radio to those channels.
  18. I'm pretty sure it's the same as when they sold playoff tickets five days before clinching - you're buying the actual tickets, and in the event that you have seats to a game they don't end up playing, then refunds go out for all. thanks .. that makes sense. to those who have gotten tickets in the past, is one typically more successful over the phone or internet? any words of wisdom?
  19. i accidentally posted this in another topic, but buster olney said that mlb will announce game times by 4p today.
  20. clearly a dumb question, but how does this work? what happens if a team doesn't make it to the next round or if the series is over after 4? are you just reserving the right to buy seats in the event there are games to be played?
  21. Oh boy.,.. if I'm not mistaken, it's not Froemmings 'crew.' I think all the post season umpires are 'all-star' lineups of umpires. I also think that they only work one series, so if we get him in the NLDS, we won't see him in the NLCS if we get there. that being said, if we get a steady diet of Froemming, Reilly, Tschida, Reliford, etc., I will be extremely pissed. hm .. i didn't realize that. guess it makes sense. can't wait to see cb buckner try to screw the cubs
  22. yeah .. for all the heartburn they give me, the cubs have had a pretty good 2/3rds of a season. since early june -- over the last 100 games or so -- they're playing at a 0.575ish clip, good for about 93 wins over the course of 162 games.
  23. funny .. 12 pages and no mention of the fact of froemming's crew (potentially) calling balls and strikes.
  24. glavine just hit willis with bases loaded .. drove in a run .. glavine out .. 5-0 fish with 1 out in 1st.
  25. dude .. bases loaded, 1 out .. willis up .. el duque warming in the pen
