    you might be right...i had forgotten about the jake/montero thing in that case, my best guess is russell, heyward, montero for 5, 6, 7 Is there a world where Miggy catches Jake every 5th day (I'd prefer Kyle, but whatever), Schwarber catches Anderson/Monty every 5th day, and Willson gets the other three? Or is Schwarber catching only in late game situations? Does Miggy get more than 20% of the starts?

    Eh. Brother and Dad are both big Cardinal fans. Before now, every Cardinal win over the Cubs was just a reminder of their superiority. Now, it's just 'wow, that's cute, good for them'. The rest of their rotation is a tire fire and we just saw what Matheny thinks of the rest of his bullpen.

    Had no problem with Lester coming in when he did. Kyle's line looked good, but I seem to remember him getting hit harder than usual. Chapman for the 9th was pretty questionable (especially after Chapman pitching as much as he did in game 6). Might have preferred Jake there, but it all worked out in the end.

    Hit definitely gets overlooked, but the part where he turns towards the bench to say a few words and nod back at them is ingrained in my memory. It's so amazing that he came out of nowhere to be this stud catcher who's personality fits in perfectly with the rest of the team.

    Eh, for the 2017 version of our bullpen, he's our 6th inning guy. Not going to worry too much about it given how 80% of our starters are going to go 6+ regularly. Strop, Edwards, Koji, Monty, Davis....we'll be fine.

    i had essentially the exact same experience at cortland's garage I had that experience at my house Parlor Bar. Actually was in a cab for the Dodger's comeback (had to switch, was not a happy stretch)...made it just in time.

    I've never loved a Cubs player more than I loved Jake Arrieta in the days surrounding the one game playoff against PIttsburgh. Now he's probably not even top 15 of my favorite Cubs. Speaks more to how amazing the rest of this roster is, but still...be a solid number two this year and then enjoy the rest of your career watching the Cubs dominate Octobers from the couch.

    ooh, this made me remember rizzo's home run that broke kershaw's brain. god, there's like 50 moments this year that would make the top 5 in any other season. Someone should try to make like a...top 20 moments of some year like 2011 just to really appreciate we've got 40 moments left that all took place after the middle of October.

    In the history of the world, no one has ever been cooler than Baez was from about 0:22 to 0:27 in this video. "Yeah, I know, this is like my 19th appearance on the top 108 plays. Just wait till you see what I do to Kluber in a couple weeks."

    i mean you did overlook the losing career-year fowler (in that statement) but i think heyward's bounceback will cover for that. Assuming the Almora/Jay platoon can match Heyward's 2016 output (1.6 WAR), we'd just need Heyward to hit his average WAR over the last three years (4.2 WAR) to come close to matching Fowler's 4.7. I assume a full season of Schwarb dongs can more more than make up any difference.

    But I'd have to pay for that right? Have never signed up for it in the past. Just an MLB account needed. I haven't renewed my subscription and I'm watching right now. I'm getting a pop up saying "Watch every out-of-market game LIVE or on demand on MLB.TV". Eh, no big deal....thanks for the help.

    When this is all done, I'd love to have you publish your notes. I would also love for someone who is really good at video editing to try to compile all these into one long video. Maybe put graphics up to introduce each one with the titles bukie made. I'm adding my support for this because I get the feeling that when I come back to this thread in a couple years, I'm going to see a lot of 'video removed'

    Yeah, I hate how that became a lightning rod for the worst kind of meatballs to harp about; that balls was horsefeathering annihilated and that it only made it into the basket is a completely weird and stupid fluke thanks to the weather that's going to kill us all within the next 50 years. horsefeathers the nonsense about putting your head down and running; when you destroy a ball that thoroughly, you should be fined if you DON'T pimp it. I know I'm in the minority on this, but a well executed bat drop (see Baez here or Schwarber against Pittsburgh) is just as good as a bat flip. Just once, I'd love to see Bryant pimp one.

    Just adding on to everyone else here regarding game 4. I, like a loser, spent most of the second half of the year dreading the playoffs because of it's coin flip nature, and I spent most of game 4 just dreading having to get through the next few days and then watch one game to determine whether the dream season was going to continue to be labeled a choke. Once this comeback started...regardless of what happened the rest of the way, there was a huge weight off my shoulders.

    javy basically was the giants series it's true but then it's like wait in the dodgers series he stole home lol And then went oppo off Kluber in game 7 which, given that we actually won, it's so great we ended up winning by one run because depending on how I'm feeling I can point to like 12 different guys to be like 'they won the World Series for the Cubs'

    I love how much Javy dominates these highlights. I honestly can't imagine a more likable team.
