  1. I was under the impression lackey only made the NLDS because they weren’t sure about jakes health. So I’m not even sure why he’s here right now, much less pitching right now.
  2. Davis isn’t even warming up. I wonder if we broke him.
  3. After watching almora bat against the best righty reliever in baseball while Schwarber, happ, and la Stella all sat on the bench.
  4. Schwarbo for almora? Or should we not sacrifice defense at this point?
  5. they're all cutters Yeah but aren’t they usually mid-90s?
  6. Big three vs kenley. This would be the time to stop letting our center field platoon carry the offense.
  7. He's really good, but he isn't invincible. The path is the large adult son sitting on bench waitin g to pinch hit.
  8. Ian happ please, not the guy who has been basically a pitcher against lefties all year
  9. weird that the offense started struggling at the same time they started facing some of the best pitchers in baseball. We can agree that's a problem right? Not just a coincidence. No they’re definitely related. That’s the horsefeathering point.
  10. Rich hill is a really good pitcher. Clayton kershaw is the best pitcher. This is going to happen. Lester, after a shitty year and on short rest, has given up as many runs so far.
  11. Leave it to javy to have the best at bat of the game so far
  12. Obviously worst case scenario, but what’s the plan if Lester implodes in the first couple innings here? Lackey and Montgomery over 25 pitches yesterday...does Lester just wear it?
  13. Watching rich hill pitch against the Cubs is probably the closest thing we have to how other fans feel watching Hendricks.
  14. I'm still totally on board the "Let the Surly Ol' Mule start Game 1" train, though I'm weirdly torn on whether I'd want Lester or Quintana starting tomorrow. Weren't both better on the road than at Wrigley this season? Probably just a lot of noise (especially in Quintana's case), but I thought someone pointed out here how Lester had some surprising home/road splits in 2017. I could, however, just be totally making this up. I was ready to agree with you on Lester because I remembered the two starts where he didn't make it out of the second (one of them he didn't make it out of the first) were at home, but even with those starts he still has slightly better numbers at home this year. 4.27 vs 4.41 ERA, FIP about the same.
  15. Rondon is most likely coming back regardless. Last year we added an extra pitcher and dropped an offensive player going from the NLDS to the NLCS. I'd guess we saw Martin's last game in a Cubs uniform.
  16. To be clear, it was a bad decision to let Hendricks bat. It was a worse decision to let him pitch to Harper. It was border inexcusable to let him pitch to Zimmerman with no one warm in the pen.
