  1. Because black and latino players aren’t also virulently homophobic? It was the coordinated statement with one player speaking for the group that made me think they were all white. Obviously white people aren’t the only homophobes out there.
  2. This is going to shock everyone, but all 5 players were white.
  3. If we don’t score in the 9th it’s ok… Cardinals have Goldschmidt, Arenado, and Gorman due up in the 10th. So you’re recommending turning the game off now then. Not the worst idea.
  4. 9-1-2 coming up in the bottom half.
  5. It’s fine. Molina’s never gotten a big hit against us.
  6. He’s close to 31 years old, cutting down his K%, 10-15% doesn’t seem like anything remotely possible Not to mention that in a hypothetical world where he did do that, he’s an 3-4 hitter and an All Star.
  7. Wisdom probably shouldn’t have thrown that ball either so he gets a bit of blame.
  8. I get that a 5 run comeback in 1 inning is very unlikely but Roberts just wanting to completely punt on the chance of that happening is hilarious. Plus, they have an off day on Monday! You can't survive another day? And it's not like their pen is depleted either. They used 5 total relievers on Thu and Fri. I know Buehler only went 2 1/3 so that kind of puts you in a bind in this specific game but that happens all the time in baseball and in a lot of those instances, the game doesn't end with a position player pitching.
  9. Well he apparently majored in sociology at Oregon State so he could always do that instead.
  10. Don’t like our chances now with 6-7-8 in the bottom half. And that’s assuming it stays at 2.
  11. Doesn’t seem smart stretching Robertson out so much.
  12. Heyward got a hit with a RISP? It’s a miracle.
  13. Pierzynski on the call for FOX tonight. Guess I’ll be keeping this thing on mute then.
  14. I think they’re fairly even teams, with Boston maybe a bit better. Its tough to tell from last night though because of the extremes that happened for Boston. I tend to think the Horford/Smart/White drop off with be more of a negative than Tatum returning to normal levels will be a positive but we’ll see. The fact that Steph did Steph like things, Tatum shot miserably yet Boston won by double digits is pretty alarming for GS. The Celtics think they can pretty much bludgeon the Warriors the whole game and take their chances at the end. I mean sure, if you're just looking at those two factors. Steph averaged 4.5 3's and 25.5 ppg this year. In Game 1 he made 7 3's and scored 34 points. So slight overperformance but nothing too crazy. Jayson Tatum averaged 26.9 ppg this year but only scored 13 in Game 1. That's more of an outlier than Steph. Smart, White and Horford averaged 33.3 ppg this year while shooting an average of 4.3-13.2 (32.6%) from 3. In Game 1, that trio was 15-23 (65.2%) and scored 63 points. Obviously there's more to it than just those 5 players and handful of stats. I just was saying that those four Celtics regressing to the mean is a net negative for Boston due to how absurd those three players were in Game 1. And I don't think anyone would be shocked if Steph averaged 34 points and 7 3's per game in the finals. I wouldn't bet on it, but its within the realm of possibility (especially 34 ppg). But Tatum isn't averaging 3-17 shooting per game in the series and that other trio isn't averaging 15-23 from 3. Steph's performance wasn't LeBron going for 51 on 19-32 shooting in G1 of the 2018 finals. And while I'm not rooting for Boston in the series, I actually bet on them because I couldn't believe they were +130 to win the series.

  16. Guessing it’s not too common for a pitcher to have 7 Ks in a game while also allowing 10 hits and 9 runs.
  17. Awful 4th quarter from GS and lucky 4th from Boston. I think at one point they were 8-9 from 3 in the quarter.
  18. I could be wrong but I think every team has a similar stretch this year due to having to reschedule the first week of games this year. In this case both DH this week are replacing games from that 1st week Monday's double header was from a rainout in the opening series. Saturday's was previously scheduled. Got it. That makes more sense then. Looking at our schedule, both other home series against Milwaukee come right before a scheduled 5 game series against St. Louis. Maybe would have made a little more sense to schedule it in August. Brewers play a day game at home on Thursday, then play at the Cubs for 3, at LAD for 3 then a day off. Cubs have an off day Thursday as well so at least we'd get a day off right before a stretch of 9 games in 7 days. Of course after that, the Cubs then play the next 6 days as well so maybe MLB didn't want to do that. So just bad luck the way the schedule worked out as far as when our two remaining home series vs. Milwaukee happened.
  19. Dodgers about to get swept by the Pirates at home. Definitely saw that one coming.
  20. Cubs sure getting fucked over with the schedule this week with 9 games in 7 days.
  21. Well Sox just gave the run back to us.
