I have middle of the day class as well. Fortunately I have some breaks so I can go to a computer lab and log on to NSBB for updates. This is my last quarter so I didn't have a choice on which classes to take. Don't you hate it when class gets in the way of your Cubs watching? I know I do.
I thought it was the players decision. It used to be but not anymore. You can thank players like Wade Boggs for that. Ok, well what should hat should he wear in the HOF?
I definately think it would most likely be the Braves since he did have a majority of his good years there. But he did only win 1 WS with the Braves so winning one with Chicago could change his mind.
I brought this up in the other Maddux thread, but I figured I would make a new thread about it. Which cap should Maddux wear when he gets elected into the Hall of Fame and does that depend on if he wins a World Series with the Cubs. If he doesn't win with the Cubs I think he'll go in with a Braves hat. But if he wins one with the Cubs, that changes things completely.
That's the point. Neifi is the worst player that has actually had enough at bats to qualify for this. Augie may be worse, but he is so bad that he isn't good enough to get the at bats.
You bring up an interesting question. If Maddux wins a World Series this year with the Cubs, what cap should he go into the Hall with, a Cubs or Braves? The Cubs fan in me wants to see Maddux wear a Cubs hat but he did have most of his good years with the Braves.
I think another former Marlin has worked out well for us. I think his name is Derrek Lee? I'm not sure on the stats but I've heard that he's a decent first baseman. Any truth to this?
I think it depends on how well we think our young pitchers will do in the majors. If we have faith in Marshall, Guzman, etc. then there is no need to keep Maddux. Also depends on if Prior/Wood/Miller comeback healthy. Maddux would command decent money and if two of the three come back healthy and pitch well that would still leave us with three good pitchers. I don't think we need to pay Maddux a high salary to be a fourth starter. I do hope he has a good year though. We need him and Z to pitch well early on the keep the team stable.
Gold Gloves are based on reputation. Furcal, Wilson, Rollins, and probably some others will get consideration before Cedeno is even thought of. Agreed. If a veteran has won a GG before and he has close to as good a defensive season as a young guy, he vet is most likely going to win the GG.
Only 2 of those you listed had more Win Shares than Barrett last year. Fine he is great, but shouldn't a big league catcher be a little better at catching the ball? Piazza never was. With catchers you generally have to pick one trait or the other. Generally, but not all the time, a great hitting catcher isn't going to be great defensively and vice versa. Then you get guys that are average at both. It just depends on your preference.
It doesn't appear to be serious. He is listed as day to day, but should definitely miss at least one start. Though there seems to be some dispute as to when he left the game and on who's HR he was injured. Well our outfield was chasing a lot of HR's yesterday so it would be hard to say who's he was chasing.
3rd, not home. Gamecast says that he got caught stealing twice, one at third and once at home. with two outs, Barrett was caught in a rundown b/w 1st and 2nd, so Lee broke for the plate, and was thrown out. Ah, thanks for the clarification.
Apparently you didn't hear the time Ozzie sang it. or Ditka, or Gordon. Ozzy was downright horrible. But at least with him it wasn't a surprise. I actually laughed at how bad he was.
