  1. Oh yeah. Pujols was huge today.
  2. That's the key. As long as Pie is getting AB's, I don't care where he's playing. If he stinks it up in the majors, then send him back down. But the worst case scenario is Pie sitting on the bench. That doesn't tell the Cubs anything about him and it doesn't help Pie improve at all.
  3. Vance' date=' smooth, and everybody who viewed this thread -- I am so sorry guys. I just got home a few minutes ago and saw what I had done. Sorry about the monstrous avi. I fixed it. Did not even realized what I had done. I don't post much, but I enjoy everyone's comments on NSBB. Def. the best Baseball forum on the net. You guys are awesome. Hopefully I won't be a repeat offender. Thanks for the PM ndistops. I appreciate it.[/quote'] No problem....but you definitely have the record for largest avatar. I think it took up half the screen. I'm disappointed I missed it.
  4. That sounds likely.
  5. In 4 AB today he raised his BA by 47 points (.214 to .261). :D The bigger issue is what craziness Dusty is doing with the 2-hole. Keep Todd Walker there. He's hitting like .450+ right now. Why are you switching him out? Stop fudging around with 2b, and just be happy with Walker. Don't fix what ain't broke. Jerry Hairston and Neifi are just disasters. Heck, Murton in the 2-hole wouldn't be that bad of an idea either. Dusty just needs to keep Todd Walker in there period. You can't sit him for a day when he is hitting this well. I think Walker only batted fifth because Barrett didn't play today.
  6. IMO, it's fine to swing at the first couple pitches provided you make decent contact. Murton smoked that ball in fair ground on the second pitch he saw (an inside fastball no less). I'm not sure what more you can ask. That late in the game, you don't need to worry about wearing down the pitcher. Murton hit a HR on the first pitch the other day. Was that a bad AB b/c he didn't take a few pitches? Cedeno swung at the first pitch and poped out weakly to 2B. That was a great AB? Why is anyone defending that? ...oh, b/c it's Cedeno, one of our precious young uns. Who cares about Neifi? He's not in the game b/c of his bat. A regular starter, like Murton and Cedeno have higher standards to live up to. I don't see how that is in any way unfair. So you are saying that it's okay for the Cubs to miss the playoffs every year because they are the Lovable Losers and they're expected to lose but if the Yankees miss the playoffs all hell should break loose because they are expected to make the playoffs? Wait...what? He's saying he had higher expectations for Cedeno than Perez. We all know Perez is gonna stink up the joint, thats what he does. Thats all. Its not "OK", but when you come to expect it, it hurts a little less. I know. Meat has low expectations for Perez. Cubs fans expect the team to lose so when it happens, it hurts less. Yankees fans have higher expectations and expect the team to win just like Meat has higher expectations for Cedeno. So when he does something wrong it hurts more.
  7. Are there any updates on the contest? Any updates on uploading an excel file as well?
  8. 5 Appearances 7 IP 2 Hits 0 Walks 11 K's 2 Saves Gotta love that. I can't wait to see how he does at the ML level for us.
  9. Is there anyway we can activate Mark Prior for this game to hit for us?
  10. Isn't it nice living in California? We never have to stay up much later than 10 or 1030 to watch a game.
  11. It sure is! Now it's on to LA and Late-night games. Well I won't get much sleep the next three days! That's why I love living on the West Coast. There is no such thing as a late-night game.
  12. I'm not sure what's strange; he was ineffective and as a result, sent down. It's not like he's a guy with a long track record to fall back on. Perhaps if the Cubs rotation was solid they could afford for him to find himself on the 25 man roster but, as it stands, they can ill afford to keep him around. Wuertz had one bad outing, that doesn't make him ineffective. People are getting hung up over his meaningless spring numbers and forgetting that he was an effective reliever with peripherals pointing towards him being even better this year. I agree. You have to give him the opportunity to prove himself at the ML level for a little while. Like TT said, Wuertz had one bad outing, one decent outing and a good outing. Give the guy more than three appearances to show what he can do. Like TT said, you can't cite spring training as a excuse. Some guys have horrible springs and do well during the year and other guys have great springs and then stink it up once the regular season starts. That being said, Dusty and the Cubs better give Aardsma a chance as long as he's up with the team. I would like to see Wuertz pitch well in AAA and get another shot later in the season.
  13. YEAH BABY! Did I not call it!! FINALLY I MADE A PREDICTION THAT WAS RIGHT! :D Damn I'm good! Wow. That's all I can say. Wow. Congrats. Care to give an early prediction for tomorrow?
  14. CUBS WIN!! Good game today. Another series victory. Hopefully we can sweep the Dodgers again so I can bug my dad relentlessly.
  15. That will raise the OBP a little bit.
  16. Awesome. Go Lakers. They'll blow it though. I know they will. Probably not. Not with they way they're playing now, esxpeically with Nash sitting out. Nevermind then. I retract my statement. I didn't know Nash wasn't playing. That changes everything.
  17. Awesome. Go Lakers. They'll blow it though. I know they will.
  18. Worse? I thought it was pretty sweet. I was disappointed when the Milwaukee manager held him out of the last week of games so Hernandez didn't break the SO record. That was weak. Just let the guy break it. I remember the Brewers fans were cheering him on and wanted him to get the record.
  19. MLB.TV has started to give me the "commercial break in progress" line in the last few innings. In the first couple innings they would just show the field in between innings and occasionally I would hear the Pirates announcers talking like they didn't know they were on the air. Kinda funny. I wish they would do that all the time - the showing the field during the break I mean.
  20. communist Seth.... I believe the correct term is "Pinko Commie Bed-wetter". That would be the PG form of the term.
  21. "I don't really see a difference between a four run lead and a five run lead other than the one run difference." Idiot Pirate announcers.
  22. Did the Pirates pitching coach teach their pitchers to throw all 0-2 pitches down the middle. They've done it numerous times in the game and Hairston just missed hitting one in this AB. I know Walker's HR was on an 0-2 pitch.
