  1. I agree. I don't think switching around the outfield would do much.
  2. What are we when Rusch starts?
  3. But that shouldn't happen. If ARam strikes out tomorrow is he going to get booed? No because everyone gives him the benefit of the doubt that he'll turn it around. But if Jacque strikes out tomorrow will people boo him? Probably. Same goes for Neifi. People should either boo everybody or nobody. And as I said before Sosa was booed so don't give me the star player argument.
  4. Over 162 games that's an awful lot more. Cubs leadoff spot, 2005: .299 OBP Juan Pierre, 2006: .284 OBP Who all batted leadoff and for how many at bats? If you got your stats from the website, what is the link. I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious. I tried to look it up on BP but I couldn't find it. ESPN 689 ABs (Breakdown) Hairston 306 Patterson 128 Neifi 114 Lawton 75 Macias 35 Murton 10 Theriot 9 Gerut 4 Walker, Grieve 2 Burntiz, Nomar, Wilson, Dubois 1 Thank you.
  5. It's turned from a Brad Lidge thread to a White Sox and Astros game updates thread.

  7. This has been a long game and they still have 4+ innings to go before it reaches Game 4 of the NLDS last year.
  8. That's one of the funniest posts I've seen in a while.
  9. It was a bases loaded walk with Boone Logan on the mound.   Speaking of walks, Furcal gets on That's still good because it means he didn't strike out.
  10. I guess I can't quite make the connection. If you go from having no leadoff hitter one year (CPatt, Neifi, whoever else we put there) to even an average leadoff hitter (Pierre) it's going to help you a lot. All of a sudden Walker is batting with a runner on more often so DLee and Ramirez will also. It's unfortunate that Lee got hurt because I had no doubt that his RBI total would have increased by at least 10 this year even if his HR's and BA went down a bit. He would have benefitted from having Pierre leading off. Pierre's OBP is .299 right now, I don't think they're batting with runners on all that much more often than 2005. Good old Corey Patterson had a .254 OBP last year. And considering he hit 13 HR's, that means he was onbase even less for Lee and Ramirez when he hit leadoff.
  11. Not necessarily. Red Sox fans are complaining already.
  12. Stop the presses!!! Adrian Beltre got an RBI!! It's a miracle.
  13. We're going to the 14th and the Mariners broke up the shutout.

  15. Haha. Oswalt is on deck.
  16. Booing Jacque relentlessly but letting Aramis slide is stupid. I'm not saying you personally do it Rocket, but there are thousands of fans that do it at the stadium every day.
  17. I agree with SonnyD on the point that some people get too caught up in the stats and don't think about anything else. I know stats are very useful, but to use them as your Bible for baseball isn't.
  18. Going to the 13th. It's now 11-0 Sox over Seattle.
  19. I couldn't agree with you more. Another thing to add on to yours that ticks me off is that nobody gives Hendry any credit for putting together one of the best bullpens in the majors this year. All anybody wants to talk about is how he didn't upgrade the offense. I think that Cedeno and Murton are proving that Hendry didn't need to significantly upgrade the offense. Also, somebody else said that the reason Ramirez isn't getting booed is because he had a great year last year while Jones and Pierre didn't. That's BS. What a player did the year before should have no affect on that. Ramirez has stunk it up at least as bad as Jones has so far this year so if you are going to boo Jacque, you need to boo Aramis also. Again, don't give me the star player crap because as I recall the fans booed Sosa in 2004 and he was a much bigger star in Chicago than Aramis will ever be with the exception of if he carries, and I mean CARRIES, the team to a World Series. I do get tired of hearing all the complaining. I even made a point in the beginning of today's game thread that whenever Neifi is brought up, a huge debate ensues because it happened before the game even started. That happened before Bruce Miles stopped by to deliver the starting lineups. But like TT said, people are going to have debates on here because eventually the material praising somebody runs out. But when people continue to make the same points over and over again and then start basically the same thread a couple weeks later, I don't even look at the new thread. Hopefully everything will work out and everybody will be happy at the end of the season. Because if we win the World Series, Jacque Jones getting signed won't matter anymore.
  20. Bases loaded. And yes, thank you to the Dodgers for offering more money. Although if we would have signed him we would still have Derrek Lee playing.
  21. Going to the 12th tied at 3.
  22. He just allowed the Dodgers to tie the game in the top of the ninth. It's 3-3 going into the bottom of the ninth. What is wrong with this guy?
  23. I think they'll win 50. Failing to win 50 puts them at 113 losses at the bare minimum. I know they're bad. But I think they'll get 50. I don't see them getting 60 so I think they'll still lose 100. I'm saying 55-107.
  24. There is absolutely no reason why the Cubs should be shopping Maddux. It's one thing to try and figure out if they want to resign him or not. But they absolutely should not trade him.
  25. I recall us doing the same sort of thing with Dempster. I think that has worked out well so far.
