  1. You obviously never saw Santo run the bases !!! That's before my time.
  2. As long as he's not hurt he can somersault into 2B for all I care... True. That replay just showed that if Ramirez had been running hard he would have made it into second no problem.
  3. That was one of the ugliest slides I have ever seen.
  4. Because he was pitching so much better? Jerome Williams as a starter pitched better than Rusch, and that's not saying much. Remember that Marshall didn't pitch too well in his first couple starts either but he's doing well right now. Let's give Guzman a little time. I mean if Rusch can get five starts, why should Guzman not be given the same liberty?
  5. Why would he honestly say this? Doesn't he want to further the MLS and have it become a more world renowned league? I don't want all of our good players leaving to play in Europe. I want them to stay in the US and play. I know people have differing opinions on this matter but you would think that a former US National Team player and former MLS player wouldn't want all of the good American players to leave the US.
  6. Obviously Marshall is going to suffer a bit of a dropoff. But if he continues to pitch well there is nothing, not even a healthy Wade Miller, that should kick him out of the rotation. Wood will push out Rusch/Hill/Williams and Prior will push out Guzman. No offense to Wade Miller, but I don't think Marshall should go anywhere anytime soon. Now, if he starts to lose his touch and starts getting hit consistently, then we can drop him down to AAA. But until that happens he should stay in the rotation.
  7. That's the one where they have to drill a hole in him? What movie is that? Perhaps you are thinking of this? http://movies.infinitecoolness.com/06/totalrecall07.jpg That's disgusting.
  8. So is Hill for sure starting on Thursday?
  9. I couldn't agree with you more. Marshall has been our second best pitcher so far this year.
  10. The only good thing seems to be that we are capitalizing on our opportunities. Hopefully when Lee comes back he can help out with the problem. The key right now is to do enough to not fall to far out of first place. We aren't going to have a second half like Houston did last year or Oakland has in years past so we have to stay close.
  11. I'm not really sure. I have noticed that what MPrior said is true that we do seem to take a lot of pitchers in the draft. Maybe we just have scouts that can recognize good pitchers but not good hitters. It does baffle me though.
  12. Just curious, who was talking about Walker not being a team guy? I know he received more than his fair share of criticism of his defense and people doubted whether he could actually play first base, but I don't remember any talk of him not being a team guy. I'm not saying your wrong, but I would like to be enlightened on this subject.
  13. I couldn't agree more. Good teams find a way to overcome injuries. Or good teams overcome injuries becuase they are built to withstand injuries. Choose freely. Losing Lee is not the same as losing Rolen. Losing Lee is equivalent to the Cards losing Pujols. They are not the same thing. Losing Rolen would be like losing Aramis. Lee is far more valuable than Rolen is. I still don't buy in that losing Lee will only cost the Cubs 2-3 wins this year. I'm think at least 5. This means the Mabry/Hairston/Neifi are going to play for 2 months. There is absolutely no way that substituting those three in for Lee would only cost the Cubs 2 games. Absolutely no way. That being said, if the Cubs end up with a record like 2005, then there is no excuse for losing. But if the Cubs miss the playoffs by a couple games, you can probably attribute that to Lee's injury. So based on how the Cubs finish this year should determine whether the "Lee got injured excuse" is valid.
  14. I would much rather have him bunt with Pierre on first than on second. Like somebody said during the game thread, when Pierre's on second, he's going to score on almost any ball hit to the outfield. There is no need to waste an out trying to get him to third. If there are no outs, you have three chances to drive him in with your 2-3-4 coming up. If he's on first then I could understand avoiding the DP, but there is no reason to bunt when he's on second.
  15. Cincy is extremely hot, and Griffey is still on the DL! Could they be for real? Highly unlikely. Give them another month or two.
  16. Please don't ever do that again. Take that over to a White Sox board.
  17. bold statement. I hope you're right. Especially since the last time we scored 7 or more runs was April 23 against St. Louis. Someone's channeling Fred. Actually I channeled ESPN.com's Chicago Cubs schedule.
  18. Carlos Classic plz. Can I have a mix please??? I could care less about his behavior on the field as long as he pitches well and wins games.
  19. So do you want to call him "Tall Smooth" then?
  20. bold statement. I hope you're right. Especially since the last time we scored 7 or more runs was April 23 against St. Louis.
  21. No, you're not. Terrible is coming into town tonight. The Pirates and the Royals are the only teams that are more than 10 games out of first place in their division already.
