  1. Bonds is going to hit 714 today. I predicted it during today's game but I figured I should do it here as well. Z is going to challenge him and is going to make a mistake and Bonds will take him deep. I don't want it to happen but I think it will.
  2. Naw. We got DA BEARS starting in the fall!!! So you're looking forward to the inevitable Rex Grossman injury?
  3. The only people I know of who were touting 2006 as "the year" were people who said, "Red Sox in 04, White Sox in 05...so it's gotta be the Cubs in 06!" I always thought that those people were deranged or delusional, or both. This team, even without the Prior, Wood, and Lee injuries, would be lucky to make the playoffs. Guilty. Although I said it in more of a joking manner and I wasn't really serious about it.
  4. Being a Cubs fan causes depression.
  5. I'm calling Z giving up 714 tomorrow. He's going to want to challenge Bonds and I think he's going to make a bad pitch and Barry's going to hammer it. I sure hope not but I can see it happening.
  6. I think the reason for all the losses is the Cubs want to make sure everybody on NSBB gets the chance to start multiple game threads this year.
  7. I'm in. I'll bring my own beer as well. Can't have too much.
  8. Oh god, please don't scare me like that.
  9. Don't forget that everybody was raving about Chris Shelton during the first two weeks of the year but he has cooled off even quicker then he heated up. Since April 18, his last 20 games, he's hitting just .169 with 1 HR and 4 RBI's. People figured out his holes and I think the same thing will happen to Koronka. This could take longer because Koronka only pitches once every five days, but I think it's only a matter of time before he starts getting hit.
  10. Unfortunately, at the pace the Cubs are currently going, by the time June 10 rolls around they will surely have overtaken the Pirates for last place in the NL Central and, with a little luck, we'll have overtaken the Marlins for the worst record in the NL.
  11. Actually we have beat the Cardinals 4 times so far. One of the few highlights of the season.
  12. I'm surpised we're actually hitting over .200 in the last 7 games. Thats surprising.
  13. Neifi, Rusch, and Jones are all guaranteed money. Touche. Fixed.
  14. Hmmm.... I have 3 in 57 innings: 11 innings, 0 runs Friday (L, 1-0) 9 innings, 0 runs Thursday (L, 6-0) 9 innings, 1 run Wednesday (L, 8-1) 9 innings, 0 runs Tuesday (L, I forgot - 0) 9 innings, 2 runs Monday (W, 2-1) 9 innings, 0 runs Sunday (L, 9-0) 1 inning, 0 runs on Saturday (scored 0 runs in the 9th, L, 16-2) Thats an average of 1 run ever 19 innings, 1 run every 2 games and 1 inning. Plus we haven't hit a HR in 7 games. Wow It's 3 runs in 56 innings. All of your numbers are correct except in the win on Monday the Cubs didn't bat in the ninth which would mean 8 innings.
  15. There isn't anything wrong with the 2007 season yet. We know something will go wrong, but there is always hope that it won't.
  16. So the 1992 Cubs have the shutout streak broken but the 2006 Cubs have been more inept at scoring runs. After I wrote it I figured somebody had the shutout streak beat, but 3 runs in 6 games is pathetic
  17. When was the last time... a team was shut out on consecutive nights? a team was shut out in 4 out of 6 games? a team scored 1 run in 4 games? a team scored 3 runs in 6 games? I know the Twins were outscored by Detroit 33-1 in the sweep last weekend. Even if you include the following game that's still 3 runs in 4 games. But before that stretch they scored 7 runs and after that stretch they scored 5. Even they weren't as pathetic as the Cubs have been.
  18. What are the predictions for how many consecutive innings the Cubs will go scoreless? They are sitting at 25 right now.
  19. Can we just fast forward through this year so we can start next year? Although, on second thought, I don't know why I would want to do that since we'll just end up getting let down again. But there's always hope.
  20. 7 and 7 time! Maybe straight 7. I prefer absinthe. Te-kill-ya for me tonight.
  21. 25 innings with out scoring a run 2 straight shutouts 4 shutouts in 6 games There aren't any words in the English dictionary capable of describing how bad our offense is.
  22. Ruth did it on Hot dogs and Beer. Phily could be the worst place for Bonds to go. I just don't see other towns giving it to him as bad as them. Maybe LA. But Phily is right up there.
  23. Come on Barrett. Pretend you are playing St. Louis in Wrigley.
  24. For anybody that didn't see the warm welcome Philadephia gave Barry Bonds today, here you go. The sign is hilarious. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2435124
