  1. I may be misinterpreting your stats but 211/897 is .235 not .190.
  2. Thank you. I don't know where your initial post was but I didn't feel like going through the whole game thread, even with how short it is. Good to know he made some progress.
  3. Marcelo Balboa basically just said that David Beckham should not be on the field right now and there are other players on England that could do a much better job than Beckham is currently doing. I would love to know what the Brits on here think about that statement.
  4. Welcome back Albert Pujols. For anyone that doesn't know, Pujols is still leading the majors in HR's and RBI's this year.
  5. I'm pretty sure they skipped Prior because a) they didnt want to pay the 10 million dollar signing bonus and b) Joe Mauer was the golden boy from St. Paul. If this were an alternate universe, Prior would be on the way to his 3rd Cy Young, and his second straight 300k season. But we have Dusty and Larry and Jimmy. They still had to pony up a very good deal for Mauer to sign with them. Remember Joe Mauer had a FOOTBALL SCHLARSHIP to be the QB for Bobby at Florida St. So they still had to convince Joe to sign. Wasn't necessarily hard, but still necessarily. It wasn't anywhere near the amount of money it would have taken to sign Prior though.
  6. God forbid that Neifi Perez ever goes on the DL. Dusty's head might explode because he won't know what to do.
  7. I just love how Mariotti explained Guillen's actions. Hilarious.
  8. I would probably watch solely for DLee if I didn't have to work today.
  9. Why not give the guy another shot at starting in the bigs this season. Season is lost anyway. I like this move.
  10. Hey, if that ends up happening with this years team, I don't care if the Cubs lose every game for the rest of the year.
  11. No Crouch today either for England.
  12. The last time the Cubs lost 100 games in a season and went 59-103 that year. The 2006 Cubs are currently on pace for 100 losses for the year.
  13. You are spot on with the reason on why Mauer was picked over Prior. It was the combination of both rather than one more than the other.
  14. For some reason I don't see that streak ending anytime soon.
  15. I am so tired of this team it's not even funny.
  16. I would believe Nolan Ryan hitting 103. The others, I'm not so sure about.
  17. Twins finish off a sweep in the HomerDome.
  18. So how did Prior look today? Obviously he looked better than in his first start but how much better?
  19. In a trade he could bring a player or two that could help the Cubs in the future, something Nevin isn't going to do.
  20. Winning a World Series is ALL that matters. If doing so means helping another team also win one, fine. I'd rather the Cubs, Sox, and Cardinals all win a Series than none of them. The Cubs matter, period.Yes, but the Cardinals and White Sox can rot in hell. And who do the White Sox have that they'd be willing to give us to get those final pieces to win it all? We need more than a few pieces to win it all. The White Sox aren't going to provide all that we need. If management determines that the White Sox have a piece or two that could help the Cubs build a winner and can get said piece(s) in a fair trade, then by all means do it. If it helps out the White Sox, great. If it doesn't, great. I don't care about any other team when it comes to helping the Cubs win a World Series.
  21. Congrats to all those that said Boof would shut the Cubs out. BTW NCCubbieFan, I love the Busty-O-Meter
  22. My thoughts excatly. Same happens to me. This is the reason why I don't want to trade with them unless we get an arm or a leg. Whenever a Sox fan talks smack to me, I just want to sock them in the face. That's how much I hate their fans. I also hate Cardinals fans. They are the most obnoxious people ever. Wanting to punch somebody who talks smack to you? About baseball no less? I'm no shrink but that's neither healthy nor normal. I want to sock people in the face all the time, but the fact that I have the self control not to makes me both healthy and normal. What is the situation though? Somebody verbally harassing you is one thing but somebody making jokes about your baseball team is completely different. That their fans are rude, dumb, and obnoxious, and constantly gloat about the White Sox winning and the Cubs losing, and being happy when Lee broke his wrist. I also have the self control to refrain from smashing a Sox fan. Or like at my prom, when I was sitting around, this stupid Sox fan came up to me and asked me about the play (barrett-a.j.) and started laughing. I'm like, I didn't see it. He keeps going on. I'm like, "do you understand english? I didn't see it. I have a life unlike you." he keeps going on and on. And you can't possibly tell me that if the Cubs had won the World Series you wouldn't have gloated to all of the White Sox fans you know. I realize that you may have gone about the ribbing in a different way than the White Sox fan went about it but ribbing is ribbing. Sometimes it's not a big deal.
  23. I would Prior pitch if I had the option to but would turn it off if he got hammered.
  24. Argentina advances and will play Germany in the quarterfinals.
