  1. 40-1 for the Pirates? That's being generous. I would put their odds of finishing higher than 5th (i.e. 4th or better) in the Central at 40-1.
  2. New Orleans (+3) Indianapolis (-3) I gotta stick with my picks.
  3. What are your thoughts on Sarkisian? I don't know all that much about him other than he's a coach at USC. But because of that, I would have to think that he is a good candidate for the job and wouldn't mind having him.
  4. I think you're grouping together those of us who are simply rooting for the Saints this weekend (like me) with those of us who are actually Saints fans (OleMissCub).
  5. Well, I just checked and last year the Steelers had two SI covers in Jan '06. Patriots had two pre-superbowl SI covers in Jan & Feb '05. So I guess it's not that big of a jinx. That and...weren't the Bears on it earlier in the season? I can't find the cover right now, but I definitely saw one, way back in week 4 or so. No Bears covers this year.... But last week's coverwas the Eagles. That Eagles cover was actually two weeks ago before Wild Card weekend when the Eagles beat the Giants. This was last weeks with Florida on the cover.
  6. Have fun with Dunmurphy on your team. My editor is a Warriors fan and that's how he refers to those two because they are both basically the same player. I know he'll be happy to be rid of them.
  7. Yeah, saw this last night. You know your team is in bad shape when a guy who just got fired from the Arizona Cardinals doesn't even want to interview for your vacant coaching position.
  8. What would be your definition of screwing it up, out of curiosity? You want CJ the most, right? Anything that involves drafting Troy Smith would be a disappointment for me. As for the pick, I'm not sure right now. It depends on if they trade either or both Randy Moss and Jerry Porter and what they get in return (i.e. trading player and pick for a higher pick). While I'm happy Brian Brohm decided to stay in school, I REALLY wanted him. If the Raiders decide to keep the #1 pick and not trade down, they had better take Calvin Johnson because neither Quinn or Russell is worthy of #1 money.
  9. 11. Dennis Green >>> Art Shell But that's saying nothing at all. I would hope for something good to happen, but since it's the Raiders I know they'll screw it up. Just like the #1 draft pick.
  12. I would be scared of Bush receiving but not Bush rushing.
  13. I'll have to update this when I get back to my computer in Davis.
  14. Not sure if this is a very good move. He's got a lot of talent, but it would seem smarter to play another year in June Jones' spread offense and show off his talents a little more. I figure he'd better do great at the combines to compete with Quinn, Russell, et al. Yeah, I think he should have stayed another year as well. There is always skepticism about how good the quarterback in these gimmick passing offenses (Hawaii and Texas Tech) actually is and I think another year would have only helped his draft stock. I don't think he's a product of a gimmick offense simply because unlike many QBs that throw an average of 50 times a game, he has a very high completion percentage. That means he's efficient with his passes and most QBs that are products of gimmicks are not efficient. I do think NFL scouts will worry about that and he'll drop because of it, though. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realize he had such a higher completion percentage than Timmy Chang before him and the Texas Tech QB's the past few years.
  15. Agree on Brady. Brady is nothing more then Chad Pennington with SB rings. Does that mean Brady is a GREAT QB, of course, nor am I saying he is a bad QB, he is just overrated. Peyton Manning is still the better QB. I like the Patriots when they beat the Rams (due to the Rams being in St. Louis, come on Chicago, you can't ever root for a St. Lou team) and I was partially to Adam Vintieri. With that said, I should be thankful for the Patriots and the Ravens, seeing as Robbie Gould was given a shot with both clubs. Comparing him to Chad Pennington is a bit harsh. Watch Tom Brady play a bit more often, the guy can make some really great throws and pretty much has carried his team this year. I don't even like defending the guy, but someones gotta play devil's advocate. Tom Brady might be overrated, but he's still a fantastic QB. Look at how consistent his stats are. He always manages 28 or so TD's, lower than 14 Ints, and around 3500-4000 yards passing. He's done this for the past 6-7 years. Pennington's image is hurt by his injury history. Brady hasn't been hurt since he took the starting job from Bledsoe.
  16. But before it gets out of hand, I'm not discussing this again. Sorry I even brought it up. I'll even edit my original post out if you want me to.
  17. Why do you have to act so smug? Pretty funny considering he almost got a timeout for trolling in a Bears game thread not too long ago. But hey, better start another thread so he doesn't get "verbally attacked" in this thread. Bears fans just can't help themselves. Seriously, what a petty comment. Everyone has been discussing things fine in this thread. I happen to remember ndistops talking about getting verbally attacked when he was celebrating Notre Dame coming back and beating UCLA a couple weeks ago. And I was far from trolling in that Bears game thread a couple weeks back.
  18. Why do you have to act so smug? I don't understand how that is acting smug. Please explain. Nowhere did I say the Saints would win or the Bears would lose. Nor did I say one bad thing about the Bears or a good thing about the Saints. I was simply stating that IF the Bears lose, some of you might not be too pleased with those of us rooting for the Saints celebrating. I do not see how that is smug in any way. I happen to think the Saints will win but am in no way guaranteeing a victory.
  19. At least I said IF the Bears are losing.
  20. Not sure if this is a very good move. He's got a lot of talent, but it would seem smarter to play another year in June Jones' spread offense and show off his talents a little more. 21. Once again it will come down to Rex Grossman. If he has another game like he did against Seattle, the Bears will have a very good chance to win the game.
  22. That's pretty much what I'm thinking too. No way would I want to face off against Belichek in a Super Bowl, especially since it would become a huge revenge game for New England, in addition to being a Super Bowl which they've never lost. I'd gladly take the Colts and Peyton over all that nasty synergy. The Patriots have lost at least one Super Bowl that I know of.... January 26, 1986. Bears 46 - Patriots 10. :D (I know you're probably just referring to Brady and Belichick, but I had to bring it up) They lost to the Packers in 1996 also.
  23. If I was the Saints and Bears, I would be rooting hard for the Colts to win. I would not want to face Belichick in the Super Bowl after he's had two weeks to prepare for the game.
