  1. UCLA making a nice little comeback here. They have a chance to cut it to 2.
  2. I was just coming here to do ATS picks for the weekend. Indianapolis (-7) over Kansas City Dallas (+2.5) over Seattle New England (-8.5) over NY Jets Philadelphia (-7) over NY Giants
  3. Replace that with Michigan, and DOUBLE SADLY and you'd be right. I know this will piss of Domer fans, and I honestly dont care, but can we stop sending ND to BCS Bowls? It bores the audience, it embarrasses Notre Dame, enough already. We get it, you guys can get 9-10 wins every year. But the last 2 years you were outclassed by the elite competition, you're stealing spots away from teams that deserve to go. Would it have been less boring to see LSU clobber West Virginia, the only other eligible team? And in 05, they got an auto-bid, not an invitation. They finished top 6 like any other outside of a BCS conference team would have had to to gain an auto-bid. FOR THE LAST TIME, I DISAGREE WITH THE THREE-TEAM RULE. IT'S A LOAD OF BALONEY. DOESN'T MAKE IT LESS OF A RULE. Hey, then we agree. Shoulda been Wisconsin in there. I don't even have a problem with ND in last year, but this year...eh...they didn't really deserve to go. Except that they did, given the circumstances. It was a down year for the top teams all over college FB, and normally ND's resume wouldn't have probably gotten them in, but this year it was them or West Virginia, and we all know who they're picking if it comes to that. Whether they had any chance to beat LSU is one thing, but by regular season alone, they had every right to be at the Sugar Bowl. Obviously I've been a Big East defender but under the circumstances (Slaton being hurt for the bowl game) I don't think West Virginia could have given LSU a game either. With Slaton it's a completely different story.
  4. You knew that exact sequence would happen? I knew he was going to miss at least one of the three FT's. Not the sequence though. ETA: After all, his name is Aaron Brooks.
  5. I knew this was going to happen. The Oregon player shooting the FT's was Aaron Brooks. He made the first, missed the second, and intentionally missed the third. Oregon couldn't get a shot off and fall from the ranks of the unbeatens.
  6. Wow. USC made the second FT to go up three but an Oregon player got fouled shooting a 3 pointer. 3 shots coming for Oregon.
  7. After a USC bucket, Oregon gets called for charging with 5 seconds to go. USC is going to the line up 83-81. USC missed the first FT and Oregon called a timeout.
  8. With back to back 3 pointers, Oregon has tied the game at 81.
  9. USC leads undefeated Oregon 77-73 with around 3 minutes to play. ETA: This game is in Eugene as well.
  10. Truth. Still were the only option, though, unless we think that a WV team that gave up 35 points to Georgia Tech deserved it over them. I think it means the two-team limit needs to be trashed. Only to a certain extent and in special cases like this years Wisconsin team.
  11. Well I'd beg to differ on that, but please, show me the four games that Rutgers or WVU played that rival the difficulty of playing four road games against nationally-ranked oppoents. I'll be happy to admit that I'm wrong. Yeah, that SEC gauntlet may not be looking as hot as it used to but those four combined are still better than the top 4 teams Rutgers or WVU played.
  12. Yeah, and that Kansas State, the same one that barely beat Illinois State and lost to, among other teams, Baylor and Kansas. Rutgers blowing out Kansas State proves that they're better than a mediocre team. We already knew that. I can play that game too. Kansas State beat Texas.
  13. my bad, I forgot that GT choked that game away I think he's talking about Rutgers, who was coming off a 19 point loss to Cinncinati. They scored 41 on Rutgers, and Slaton played most of that game. Pat White didn't play though against Rutgers though.
  14. my bad, I forgot that GT choked that game away I think he's talking about Rutgers, who was coming off a 19 point loss to Cinncinati. Ah yes, Rutgers. Are you referring to the Rutgers who promptly beat the living daylights out of Kansas State 37-10? The Rutgers that had almost three times as many yards (479-162) and a huge advantage in first downs (21-6) and TOP (36:20-23:40)? That Rutgers? EDIT: Oops, misinterpreted what you said. I was talking about the WVU-GT bowl game.
  15. And who did WVU, Rutgers and Louisville beat, except for each other once? Cincinnati, Navy and Miami? Hot damn! You can't just discredit beating each other. At least Louisville, WVU, and Rutgers beat teams who were at least ranked at the end of the year. Will WVU be ranked? Do they deserve to be? What do you mean will WVU be ranked? I'm talking about the end of the regular season (i.e. before the bowls). Do they deserve to be? Well, dropped 38 points on a team that was supposed to have a very good defense without their Heisman Trophy candidate running back. What do you think?

  17. Well, Louisville made the BCS because they won the conference, so nobody's arguing that they should've been in there. And most of us who aren't ND fans already agree that they didn't belong. Well that's what Cuse's point was. You chose to single out his incorrect inclusion of LSU into the debate. Fact is, it's unlikely a 2 loss Big East school would get picked over a 2 loss Big 10 or SEC school.
  18. I'm editing my post from above about making it 3 teams from any conference can go to the BCS. They should make a provision that if the third place team in a BCS conference is in the, say, top 8 of the final BCS standings then they are eligible, but not guaranteed, to be selected to play in a BCS bowl. That way, you know if a conference gets three teams in the BCS, they likely deserve it. I also wouldn't mind if they had a minimum wins requirement for a BCS, regardless of conference title. If some team (cough*FSU2005*cough) is only 8-4 or whatever they shouldn't get to go to the Orange Bowl. While it's a good idea, I don't see the conferences ever agreeing to that though.
  19. The #11 team really shouldn't have been there. They need to change the rule that prohibits a conference from only getting in two teams and we could have had a better match-up. If they do that then the rich just get richer. You'd see just SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 teams fill all the slots. Maybe - or maybe there'd be a deserving school from the Big East or one of the other conferences in there. Rutgers screwed themselves by losing to Cincy, and WVU screwed themselves by losing to USF. They had nobody to blame but themselves for not getting in the BCS this year. Do you really think they would have taken them over ND, Michigan or Wisconsin if they (BE team) only had one loss? I don't. Opps, I forgot LSU which somehow managed to lose 2 games too but I suppose that's ok. Show me where a two-loss Big East school played four games like @Auburn, @Tennessee, @Arkansas and @Florida, and I'll agree that they belong in the BCS. Really, if your defending of the Big East has blinded you to the fact that LSU is indeed one of the five best teams in the nation, and is in the very least better than Rutgers and West Virginia, then we're really not going to get anywhere in this debate. Who did Wisconsin beat that made them a better team than Louisville? Who did Notre Dame beat to make them a better team than West Virginia? They both beat Penn State, who will probably be a top 25 team in the final polls. I'm not talking about the final polls. If you're going to look at rankings, you must do so when the teams were selected for BCS bowls. That means before Penn State's victory over Tennessee. Before the Tennessee game, Penn State hadn't beaten anybody.

  23. It's because the major conferences all send their conference champion to a BCS game. Wake Forest was ranked 14 in the final BCS standings. Look at last year. #3 Penn State played #22 Florida State in the Orange Bowl last year.
  24. I voted Adrian Peterson because nobody had voted for him.
  25. I'm sure we could drudge up some predictions from vance about how LSU was going to beat Florida and Auburn this year.
