  1. Lol Italy missed out again. The Materazzi curse. Ever since they won in 2006, they got bounced in the group stage twice and missed out the next three.
  2. It's not really occasionally. I just reloaded this page with no ad blocker. I get a full width ad at the bottom plus a small video ad on the bottom right side. Along the right hand side under "Recent News", "Notes and Rumors" and "Recent Blogs", I get 10 different ads as I scroll. In between posts on this page, I counted 13 different ads as I scroll down.
  3. Duke blowing a game it had no business losing against an inferior team is one of my new favorite March traditions.
  4. I get this is more referencing football, but can the Big 10 win a basketball title before we claim they’re dominating it? I mean, it was only last year that the SEC had two F4 and 4 of the E8 teams.
  5. What an awful final play by Florida. 4.5 second and you try to dribble all the way under the hoop and pass it? Dribble down, maybe set a screen and get a shot off. Also, love that Iowa went for the 3 and the win. Give Florida an extra 5 minutes and their talent is more likely to win out.
  6. Boy that was an awesome ending to Nebraska-Vandy. The last minute and a half there was one timeout called and no fouls, so the game just flowed. And Vandy couldn't have gotten much closer to winning that game on the final shot.
  7. That's a pretty wild jump. Very much deserved but still wild.
  8. Today I learned that when a team gets the ball to start a possession in the front court, the shot clock starts at 20 seconds and not 30. Watching MSU-Louisville, MSU won the tip but knocked it out of bounds in their backcourt. So Louisville got the ball out of bounds and the shot clock started at 20 seconds. They then got a shot clock violation and I was really confused how that was possible with 19:34 left on the game clock.
  9. They definitely made a mistake and blew it, but I understand how heat of the moment mistakes happen. There was no timeout after Kentucky made their layup or after Santa Clara hit the 3. And in the timeout before the Kentucky layup, I’m sure they only went over what to do if Kentucky missed, if they tied it or if they hit a 3 to take the lead.
  10. Down goes Wisconsin.
  11. Not going to lie, don't necessarily mind losing to Venezuela after what we did in their country a couple months ago.
  12. Combined over 2 legs: Chelsea had 2.6 xG on 27 shots including 13 on target. PSG had 1.99 xG on 17 shots including 13 on target. PSG won 8-2 on aggregate.
  13. Not related to seeding but Missouri being a 10 seed and getting to play in St Louis seemed a little strange.
  14. I'll never forget being at a game in 2014 and telling my wife that Junior Lake wasn't a good hitter. He then hit 2 HRs that day. After the second one she said something along the lines of "I thought you said he wasn't good". I mean, I was right but it didn't seem like it in the moment.
  15. The second half stats is what stands out to me. Kobe had a really good first half (26 points on 10-18) but they were down 14 because the rest of the team sucked. Then he just got really hot in the second half and kept shooting (27 points on 11-15 including 4-5 from 3 in the third). Then in the 4th, win secured, he went for 80. Lakers were only up 7 with 7 minutes left and Kobe was at 59. Bam had a ridiculous first quarter (31 on 10-16 including 5-8 from 3 and only 6-7 FTs). That didn’t carry over though and it seems like he just kept chucking. He was 3-8 in the 2nd and half his points were at the line. 4-11 in the third and 10 of 19 points at the line. 3-8 in the 4th and 14 of 21 points at the line. That he set the record for most FTA in a game and it wasn’t a Hack a Shaq situation is ridiculous. I’m sure plenty of the fouls were legit but nobody should be shooting 43 free throws in a game. All that being said, credit to him and 83 points is still nuts regardless of how it happens.
  16. So there was a lot of talk if it was a good thing the EPL had 6 teams in the last 16. Well, Spurs will be gone, Chelsea and Man City would have to overturn 3 goal deficits and are likely gone, Newcastle has to at least get a draw at Barcelona and Liverpool has to beat Galatasaray at home. The only team I feel confident will advance is Arsenal, and they needed an incredibly soft penalty just to get a tie.
  17. That was embarrassing, even by 2025-26 Spurs standards. I turned it off after 15 minutes and swapped to Barca-Newcastle. Also, for this flop, which was given as a foul and led to the fourth goal, Spurs deserve one free shot at Alvarez next game, with the max penalty being a yellow card. I'd be more annoyed but it was already 3-0 so it didn't matter at all.
  18. Didn't think anyone was going to top Kobe and certainly didn't think it would be Bam. But I guess setting the record for most FT attempts in a game will help you do that. Since the 83-84 season, the record was 39 by Dwight Howard twice and there were only 7 instances of a guy shooting 30+ FTs in a game.
  19. Good news! Two hand pushes in the back are no longer fouls!
  20. Yes but in terms of being more appealing to the players union, if you told them total money spent on payroll will decrease, the top 5%-10% of players will see salaries decrease but the bottom 30% of players will see salaries increase, I’m assuming the players would be for that. I have no if it would actually play out like that though.
  21. But wouldn't that mean the number of players who get better contracts inreases? It's not like the top teams can pay 50 different players. You only have so many spots. So if you make those 12 teams spend up to a salary floor, they're probably not giving one guy $50M per year just to get there. Which means they're going to have to pay a few guys more money. So as far as appealing to the players overall, wouldn't you be telling them that more of them are going to get better contracts because these cheap teams are going to have to spend.
  22. Bodo/Glimt last 5 UCL games, they tied at Dortmund, best Man City at home, won at Atletico Madrid and beat Inter home and away.
  23. Certainly seems like you care because you keep asking questions about it when people have been perfectly clear about where they stand on this.
