The tournament has been fine. It’s definitely not the best but I feel comfortable saying it’s not the worst tourney. I don’t particularly care that it’s all 1 seeds in the FF. If this starts becoming more routine, then sure. But just last year a 4 and an 11 made the FF, and 8 double digit seeds won first round games. And 2023 we had a FF with teams seeded 4, 5, 5 and 9, a 15 seed made the S16 and a 16 seed won a game. Maybe this year is a sign of things to come but it might also just be a blip. Need to give it a couple more years to find out.

Didn’t realize today was Opening Day until a friend texted me this morning. I guess I’d heard and talked about the A’s home opener being against the Cubs that I assumed that was Opening Day.

They also haven’t had a player hit 30 HRs in a season since Bonds in 2004. Belt hit 29 in 2021 but got hurt and only played 97 games.

I was confused for a few seconds looking at the schedule as I was trying to figure out what the second SEC-Big 10 matchup was besides Michigan-A&M. Then I remembered that UCLA is in the Big 10 now.

To be fair on the Dodgers part, he only started a playoff game because the Dodgers had multiple starters get hurt and Urias got arrested for domestic violence.

It's 11 p.m. local time in Tennessee and they just started the second half of an SEC tournament game. As if that wasn't bad enough, it's after midnight in New York and they're still playing a Big East tournament game. Have these things always run this late and I don't remember it?

The Sun Belt has the weirdest tournament format I’ve seen. There are 14 teams but only 4 teams play each round. So this year, for example, Marshall was the 11 seed so they played in the first round. They won 4 games before finally losing their fifth game, which was somehow only the quarterfinals. EDIT: Apparently the Marshall thing was on the women’s side but the bracket is the same.
