  1. LET'S GO CUBBIES!!! *clap* *clap* *clap**clap**clap*
  2. I worry that they might be too anxious and lose the little patience they have. Soriano's P/PA so far this game sucks. I know, second game in a row he helps the pitcher out by jumping all over the first pitch. He's really pissing me off with that crap. I still like when he shut me up a week or two ago when the guy in front of him got walked and I made a comment about how he needed to take a pitch or two. He promptly swung at the first pitch and hit a 3-run HR.
  3. That's Soriano's 10th home run so far in September.
  4. I really like the lineup today. Murton 5th and Soto 6th is very, very nice. EDIT: And he finally dropped Theriot.
  5. Yes. DeRosa didn't even attempt the throw to first.
  6. Phew. Dodged a bullet in that inning. Settle down Marquis and hopefully the offense has a big day.
  7. Please hit a DP, Nady. Thankyoumuch.
  8. He's just setting up the 5-4-3 triple play.
  9. Let's go Cubbies!!! *clap* *clap* *clap**clap**clap*
  10. You know how you always hear about position players that come into pitch during blowouts and make some of the hitters look foolish? Well, the aforementioned J.R. Towles hit his 2-run HR off Aaron Miles today. Also, this was Miles' second appearance as a pitcher this year. He also pitched an inning in St. Louis' August 4 12-1 loss to the Nationals.
  11. The first weekend in October is Columbus Day weekend and 4 days long for me. If the NLDS happens to go to a fifth game and it's played in SD on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday that weekend, I'm probably going to be heading down. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/ps_07.jsp Both NLDS Game 5's in the first round are on Tuesday, October 9. Games 1 and 2 for both NLDS series are on Wednesday, October 3 and Thursday, October 4. Those would be the road games for the Cubs in the first round. Yea, I saw that and was not amused. I wonder if there's any way the Cubs can play the Padres AND have home field advantage... Ah, forget it. I'm fresh out of excuses to avoid helping my mom move that weekend. You would have to come watch the games with me? (Assuming the Cubs make the playoffs, that is.) I'm not sure if that would be a good enough excuse though.
  12. How long until Krivsky and Wade get into a bidding war over a middle reliever?
  13. Agreed. While Eyre's numbers were worse than I thought they were going to be, he wasn't going to keep up his ERA from last year based on his peripherals. Plus he really Howry's been solid for a few year's now and I was shocked with how poorly he pitched early in the year. I have a ton of faith in him now. Not as much as Marmol but I don't get a feeling of impending doom whenever he comes in the game.
  14. but they're the Indians Why don't you understand it? The Yankess play in NY and the Indians play in the Cleve. Face it, these "experts" need quotes around them. my point was that Cleveland's track record in the post season is nearly as futile as the Cubs I'd say the Indians getting to the world series twice in a decade alone makes them a very different franchise from the Cubs. It has to do with the fact that the Indians, at 58 years, now have the second longest World Series drought in the majors behind the Cubs. Obviously the Indians are nowhere near as bad as the Cubs are in terms of futility, but they're up there.
  15. I can think of a better time for a 10 game winning streak. 1-1 tie in NLDS was the first to come to mind. Anytime in the postseason would be wonderful.
  16. Agreed. I wrote a column saying exactly this for our paper last week. You can't do anything about what happened in the past. Work on getting effective testing put in place instead.
  17. Another K today puts him at 190 with 9 games to go.
