  1. That one wasn't cheap though.
  2. For sure. It's like holding in football. They could call a PK on pretty much every corner kick that gets sent into the box. That one was very soft.
  3. Leicester winning 1-0 while playing up a man for 35 minutes? This will be a new way for them to win 1-0.
  4. Leicester are 14-2 in games decided by 1 goal this year. For comparison's sake, both Spurs and Arsenal are 6-4 in games decided by 1 goal.
  5. Semifinal draws: Man City-Real Bayern-Atletico Liverpool-Villareal Shakhtar-Sevilla
  6. Those damn Rockies pitchers and their home/road splits. Should have looked at his numbers a little closer. Just looked at his overall numbers last year without considering the team he played for. He had a nearly 5 ERA at home but a 3.35 ERA on the road.
  7. Another day, another win. Five straight wins for the Cubs and with the Baltimore loss, they now have the best record in the league. Chad Bettis takes the mound for the Rockies and he is, well, not good decent. Regardless, I don't expect tomorrow's game to go very well for him.
  8. Another enjoyable outing for the Cubs as they secured their third straight series win to start the season. With Baltimore's loss, the Cubs are now tied for the best record in the majors. Iglesias is a good young pitcher who had a couple solid starts against the Cubs last year (12 2/3 IP, 9 H, 7 BB, 4 R, 18 K's). Looking for Hammel to give us another good start and help the Cubs earn the sweep.
  9. Oldest player ever to score 60 in a game and it's not close. Wilt was second and he was only 32 when he did it.
  10. Ref really doesn't want to give out a red today, apparently.
  11. I'll predict the draw gives us Bayern-City and Atletico-Real. No way they'll able to pass up Pep against his new club. EDIT: Or Barca in place of Atletico if they get through.
  12. did they play it yet? Edit: nevermind I heard it. That was as monotone of a call as you will ever hear. Yeah, that call was great.
  13. Like most on the board, I never doubted the Cubs would get something going against the Reds. With the win, they're in sole possession of first place and trail only Baltimore for the best record in the majors. Simon started 5 games against the Cubs with the Reds in 2014 and pitched extremely well, allowing only 5 R in 32 2/3 IP. But those were the old Cubs and Simon is both old and not good. Hopefully the Cubs can do some damage early and often, Lackey pitches better and the Cubs wrap up another series win. Off days suck, but the Cubs certainly don't.
  14. I'm torn. I absolutely loved him playing it tonight. And part of me thinks it would be cool to hear it once per game, as a nod to Starlin, and because it is awesome. But, part of me says we need to move on from the past to other fun and exciting new things. Eh, [expletive] it, play it very game. Did Rizzo use a different walk up song each time he batted tonight like he did last year? I'd love it if he used it once per game.
  15. Spring training stats for the win!
  16. The Cubs return home after a successful 5-1 road trip to start the year with a chance to claim sole possession of first place. Finnegan has never faced the Cubs in his short career and while his numbers in his short major league career look good so far, they will be noticeably worse after this game is played.
  17. That was the most enjoyable 5-10 minute stretch since Spurs came back from 1-0 down to beat City 3-1 with 3 goals in 10 minutes in Bale's last season. Would have been better if Leicester didn't win also but I wanted at least 4 points from these two games and got it. Plus this drastically increased Spurs's odds of UCL next year.
  18. I wake up and check my phone to see that Leicester is tied 0-0. In the three minutes it took me to get up, get dressed and turn on the TV, they were up 1-0. Probably no point in watching the rest of this one. And now Rodwell misses an absolute sitter. Even the Cardinals would be amazed by how lucky Leicester is.
  19. Cubs took care of business against Greinke on Saturday and returned to their winning ways. In this one, they face Shelby Miller, a pitcher they scored 8 runs against on 10 hits and 8 walks in two outings last year. This game will be a rematch of the last year's first meeting, a game in which Jake went 7 scoreless and the Cubs did enough against Miller in a 3-1 win. Two straight series wins to start the year would be quite nice. Get it done, Cubs.
  20. Ho hum, 90 pitches through 5 for Greinke.
  21. I was amazed the linesman didn't put his flag up on West Ham's second goal considering he blew the one early in the game. The second one was a tougher play to tell and he got that one right.
  22. I wasn't aware the Cubs were allowed to actually lose games but they probably did this for us to keep the march to a title at least somewhat interesting. Regardless, they'll surely get back on the winning track against Greinke.
