  1. Not a major spoiler but I'll put it in tags in case you haven't seen tonight's Game of Thrones yet.
  2. They didn't mention any specific numbers but on the Effectively Wild pod the other day they were saying that pitcher's velo is typically lower in April and goes up as the season goes along. They didn't say by how much on average or how long it takes to stabilize, however.
  3. No sense in switching it up from last time. Raiders select Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville.
  4. They shouldn't have let him play this game. The earliest I would have brought him back was Game 5, and I'd only do that if it was 2-2. If it's 3-1, there's no need to run the risk. Golden State doesn't need Curry to win this series and they should have taken it easy with him.
  5. Might as well get all the suck out in one game. Crush the Reds tomorrow and start a new streak.
  6. This comeback is going to be glorious.
  7. Too many pitches up in the zone from Cahill.
  8. Not sure where they came up with that but as far as I can tell, it's wrong. Frank Smith threw a no-no for the White Sox in a 15-0 win in 1905 but the White Sox didn't win the World Series that year. The 1938 Yankees did win the World Series and had a 13-0 no hitter.
  9. After St. Louis got lucky by getting to face our 3-4-5, the next few series against good teams are shaping up well as far as the the Cubs' scheduled starters go. Pittsburgh (May 2-4) would go 1-2-3 Washington (May 5-8) would go 4-5-1-2 We burn 3-4-5 against San Diego (May 9-11) Pittsburgh (May 13-15) gets 1-2-3 Milwaukee (May 17-19) gets 4-5-1 SF (May 20-22) gets 2-3-4 St. Louis (May 23-25) gets 5-1-2 We burn 3-4-5 against Philly (May 27-29) LA Dodgers get 1-2-3-4 (May 30-June 2). So even though the schedule gets tougher in May, the Cubs pretty much have the ideal pitching matchups set up. The only two times 3-4-5 are set to go are against crappy teams and Jake will go against each good team except for San Francisco.
  10. Could have rung him up on ball 2 also, but umps never call that a strike.
  11. Martinez doesn't have good control today. Just take the walks and stop being aggressive on 2-0 and 3-0.
