  1. Good job all around by everyone on this!
  2. Would have been nice to have him of course, but I'm more of the belief that they should be going after guys a few years younger who have room to grow. Getting Eze is more of a win the next couple years type of move, which is why it makes more sense for Arsenal to get him.
  3. Peralta didn’t throw a single strike that AB and Caissie still swung at 4 of the 7 pitches. He walked 3 straight hitters at least make him throw a strike or 2.
  4. The Reds have a brutal schedule the rest of the way. Two easy series and maybe a third (Mil to end the year) but everyone else is at or above .500. Their third easiest series is whichever of Ari/LAA/StL is the worst. Thats not to say the Cubs will make the playoffs. I mean they’re only 4.5 games up. But unless they just tank (which considering they’re 9-14 in their last 23, I won’t rule out), the Reds will have to play well against good teams to pass us. If the Cubs maintain their 9-14 pace, they’ll go 16-25 the rest of the way (a 63 win pace). That would leave them at 84-78. Reds would have to go 20-20 to tie us. Cubs still play Col x3, Wash x3, Pit x5, Atl x6. It would be pretty disappointing for them to go 16-25 the rest of the way.
  5. I think we mainly root for neither team to sweep and them hope we can take care of business against the Pirates. Im not super worried about the Reds. They play Pitt and Oak (and the Brewers to end the year so that might be an easy series for them) but other than that, every team they play is right around .500 or better. So the Reds would have to get hot against good teams or the Cubs would really have to tank.
  6. You mean the .312 OBP, 78 wRC since the ASB Seiya Suzuki? We don't need to act like Seiya has been much better than an average hitter for about 2 1/2 months now - 104, 103, 118 wRC in each of the last 3 months, down from 156 and 138 the first two months and 118, 128 and 137 the last three years.
  7. Why did I even tune in? Wasn’t planning on watching but I saw a runner on 2nd with no out and I couldn’t resist.
  8. Who do we root for in Mil-Cin this weekend? Were two games closer to Cin but they’ve got a brutal schedule the rest of the way (still play Mil, LAD, Tor, NYM, SD and us, and they also have StL twice, Ari and LAA, all of whom are around .500). So I assume we probably want neither team to sweep.
  9. The Cubs are going to pull an Orioles aren't they? Not get swept all year long and then get swept in the playoffs. Of course it's more likely the Cubs get swept since we'll likely be in a best-of-3 series while the Orioles were swept in a best-of-5.
  10. Prior to July, in the 56 1/2 years the Brewers had existed, they had won 11 straight games twice, in 1987 and in 2021. They now have 2 win streaks of 11 games in the past 5 1/2 weeks. It's the good version of the White Sox having the two longest losing streaks in the history of their franchise both take place in the 2024 season.
  11. Maybe the reason Jed didn’t bother with significant upgrades at the deadline is because he knew this team was cooked so there was no point.
  12. Skenes hadn’t given up a first inning run all year and gave up a homer to the first fucking Brewers hitter of the game.
  13. Is there any doubt that against Skenes tomorrow, the Brewers will be down 1-0, 2-1 or 2-0 after 5 or 6 innings and then win something like 5-2? Just seems like a mortal lock.
  14. .675 OPS in July so still not very good. He drew 21 walks so maybe pitchers were still respecting his bat. He’s only walked 2 times in 8 games so far in August.
  15. What are you talking about? He’s hitting .258 with a ..587 SLG in that span. Oh wait, that’s his SLG and OPS. Yeah, .194/.329/.258 slash line with 1 HR in that span. That’s really rough.
  16. Against my better judgement I’m tuning into the game.
  17. Lol Mets. Thats only the second ER and the fourth run Edwin Diaz has allowed since Apr 21.
