He threw 1142 4-seamers last year and not a single one was less than 90 mph. No way he's opting out of 3/$98M at the end of the year, right? I mean, I suppose if he misses a month or less, comes back by July 1 and goes vintage Kershaw the rest of the way he probably opts out. But for him to opt out, he'd have to be pretty confident he's getting way more than $98M guaranteed. I suppose there's always some team crazy enough to offer him 5/$130M or 6/$150. EDIT: Looked at it wrong. He’s only got two years left for $65M. So more likely to opt out since he’d only need to be confident of getting around $100M.
