They scored 7 runs They also gave up two more tonight than we've given up in our last five games combined. They just suck in a different way than we do. They score runs early and then gradually give it up. We give up a couple runs early and never score.

I mean, it was an easy one to predict but I’m still going to take credit for it. I said it earlier but the Cubs will roll tomorrow, 11-2. Murphy will play and be 0-4. 3 K and leave 4 guys on base. Most in scoring position. Nah, we’ll roll tomorrow, Murphy will have a solid game and all the sportswriters will write their [expletive] stories about how Murphy’s presence sparked the offense. Then we’ll get shut down on Thursday.

But fangraphs...or whatever random website says we’re 90% in the playoffs or something. There is a flaw in the projection systems that doesn’t seem to be picking up on that without Bryant and Darvish and with Rizzo kinda meh and with Lester, Hendricks and Quintana varying degrees of bad, this is actually a bad baseball team. Rizzo’s been 2014-17 Rizzo since April minus like 30 points of SLG. The rest is fair though.

I'll have to wait until tomorrow to confirm but I think the Cubs just became the first team in MLB history to score exactly one run in 4 straight games with each of those runs coming by a homer! Searched for streaks on B-R of games with 1 R and 1 HR and the longest was 3, done 12 times. I think someone asked about the fewest runs in a 4 game set earlier also. [tweet] [/tweet]

Don't forget Duensing. ETA: Can't imagine it's only a probably on Darvish. They'd love a $126 million do-over on that one. Most of us would. heyward/darvish/chatwood is what, $300 million wasted? What a world. At least Heyward has provided some value defensively. Heyward's provided 5.3 bWAR and 3.9 fWAR. How amazed would you be if Chatwood actually got to either of those numbers over the life of his contract? If you limit it to 3 years, Darvish probably won't get there either. Assuming he doesn't pitch next year, he'd have to be a 4-5 WAR pitcher in 2020.
