  1. Knebel’s ERA up to 4.79 now. Soria also got taken out mid batter which is never a good sign (didn’t see what, if anything, happened).
  2. Knebel with another solid outing. Went walk, walk, walk (against 7-8-9) and infield single before getting yanked. Soria came in, got Hosmer to pop out and gave up a grand slam to Renfroe.
  3. Duensing’s nickname is “Deuce” which is fitting since he always seems to give up two runs.
  4. Wasn’t Soler known for hitting the ball really hard? I haven’t taken the time to compare the two as players/prospects so they might be completely different hitters, but I feel like I remember people thinking he’d figure it out in part because of his exit velo. Bote is also more than a complete zero in the field so he’s got some value there that Soler doesn’t.
  5. Saw the other day that the Red Sox are the 5th team in the expansion ERA to win 79 of their first 113 games. Through today they're on pace for 114 wins. The most wins through 113 games was the 98 Yankees with 84. They were in the midst of a 9 game winning streak and ended up peaking at 89-29, which is a pace of 122 wins. For comparison's sake, last years Dodgers were *only* 84-34 at the same point and the Red Sox would have to win their next three to match that. The 01 Mariners were 85-33. I obviously knew the Yankees were really good that year since they won 114 but didn't realize how far ahead of the 116-win pace they were 3/4 into the season. I like most here, might have been paying more attention to something else going on in the NL that year.
  6. I mean, going 97-102-92-94 (on pace) is pretty dominant. Last team to win 100+ in back to back years was the 04-05 Cards (though the Astros will probably do it this year, which is always the comparison). When they hired Theo we all wanted a Red Sox like run and while it took a couple years, that's what we're on right now. They won 90+ his first three years, then 86, then 90+ the next three, then 89 and 90. I do understand what you're saying though. Watching the Astros roll to another 100 win season after the season we had last year is a bit frustrating.
  7. I want to do it again and again. Oh and again. As desperately? Obviously not. But I wouldn’t say it took any care out. It just got rid of the fear of never seeing it. oh yeah, i didnt necessarily mean the cubs even though its true to an extent. im talking like basketball and football etc ... nothing that ever happens in either of those sports could ever approach 2016 I've found I've enjoyed the wins just as much and while he losses still bug me, they don't bother me nearly as much (outside of blowing late leads or like when we got swept by the Cards earlier this year). But I was still stressed as hell during that Nats series last year nearly as much as I was the year before. It might have been the way we went down but the Dodger series wasn't as painful. Definitely not as much as the 2015 Mets series was. A tough 7 game loss like the Dodgers had in the World Series probably would have hurt though. But yeah, winning a second wouldn't be nearly as memorable as the first, especially since the first had so many playoff highlights and the 3-1 comeback.
  8. Sorry for not going full doom-boner when my favorite team has the best record in their league. How much less freaking out would there be if the Cubs had lost one of the games in San Diego, won 3 of 4 against the Padres in Chicago and won 2 of 3 in KC? Of course, even knowing that, I'm still slightly annoyed we only went 4-3 in these 7 games.
  9. Pads with a two out double that scores two. They’re up 7-5.
  10. I had to look up if the Royals were starting a righty or a lefty today because it’s impossible to tell based on the lineup.
  11. everything Or in Happ’s case, nothing.
  12. Javy with some quality ABs tonight.
  13. Better sweep the Royals. 4-3 or worse in this stretch isn’t good enough.
  14. Not going to have to worry about Wade Davis blowing today’s game at least. Brewers up 6-0 in the 1st.
  15. Happ is a .670 OPS vs lefties this year. Caratini is .574. I don’t think anyone would have minded if they let Happ hit and PH Almora for the pitcher. But like someone else said, he basically picked Caratini to bat over Happ. I guess, but Almora's contact ability is more valuable the earlier you use him there, meaning with less than two outs. Considering how slow he is, I’d almost rather he bat with two outs so he can’t GIDP. None of them seemed like great options there so I tend to go with the higher upside guy. Could very easily have gotten no runs letting Happ bat and using Almora after Willy.
