  1. Haven’t they jacked up ticket prices the last couple seasons? I feel like that could be just as big of a reason the attendance dropped as the play on the field.
  2. In other last day fun... Khris Davis is hitting .247 this year. In 2017, he hit .247. In 2016 he also hit .247. In 2015? Yep, you guessed it. Also .247. The last year he didn't hit .247 was 2014 when he hit .244. He needs to go 0-1, 0-2, 1-4 or 1-5 tomorrow (or not play) to remain at .247 for the year.
  3. So deGrom ended the year with 24 straight quality starts, which matches what Jake did between 15 and 16. Jake pitched better than deGrom (more innings, fewer hits, same number of walks, ERA of 0.86 vs. 1.67) but it's not like deGrom pitched poorly. Jake went 20-1 during his run. deGrom went 7-9. Good job Mets offense.
  4. So earlier in the week the Nats said they’d start Scherzer on Sunday if the game mattered. Apparently that only means if it determines if the Rockies are in the playoffs or not. Since they and the Dodgers are both in, he won’t pitch tomorrow.
  5. Maybe they should have called a timeout to get a better play in. Oh wait, they called two timeouts, the second of which also prevented them from having a chance to get the ball back with 20-30 seconds left.
  6. But we’re playing in Chicago not St Louis.
  7. I'll never forgive the Cubs for losing both of their last two series against the Brewers. right. i'm sick of this forming narrative that this blown division is just because the brewers got hot and the poor cubs didn't have enough off days. I mean, a big chunk of it is the Brewers getting hot. How much the no off days think hurt the Cubs? Who knows. But I think we can agree it was advantageous for the Brewers to have off days in September and not have to take random, one day trips to Atlanta (I know that was late August) and D.C. The Cubs are 15-12 in September which is a 90 win pace. That’s fine. It’s not great, but that’s not what I would call blowing it. The Brewers have played great down the stretch. Hat tip to them.
  8. At this point I’m just hoping Detroit keeps it close again tomorrow so Milwaukee uses Hader and Jeffress again.
  9. I’ll never forgive the Cards for not winning one game in that series.
  10. So the Tigers are definitely scoring 1 run here so Yelich can walk it off, right?
  11. Sounds like Scherzer will be pitching tomorrow so that’s good for the Dodgers.
  12. Really sucks we’re going to be tied because Castellanos’s ball couldn’t go another couple feet.
  13. God I’m horsefeathering tired of Yelich.
  14. Before the game, I would have taken a tie game after 6.
  15. Damn. Castellanos a couple feet from a 3 run homer.
  16. Leadoff triple in the 6th. Get the run in, Detroit.
  17. Yeah, no way the Tigers at least tie the game after trailing 5-3. Literally no chance of that happening. And all the good Brewer relievers will be going on their second straight day. That doesn’t mean they’ll get knocked around but it’s better than if they didn’t pitch yesterday.
  18. Made a terrible 0-2 pitch to Cain and the Yelich homers. 3-2
  19. Pete Kozma is the SS for the Tigers today. Had no idea he was still playing.
  20. So the Rays guy who threw at the Yankee player’s head for no good reason gets 3 games but Sabathia gets five for retaliation? Great message, MLB.
  21. Good call on Lorenzen. We need someone who actually knows how to hit dongs.
  22. He’s given up 2 hits to Pence today which is like giving up two hits to anyone in the Tigers lineup today except Castellanos.
  23. Just realized Buehler will pitch tomorrow for LA regardless. If they lose today, they’ll be a game up on the Cards. If they win today, they’ll either be tied with or a game back of Colorado.
  24. what team's top 2 starters scare you in the NL playoffs? Against the cubs all of them..lol Dodgers Kershaw Wood Rockies Freeland Marquez WC game, their gonna go up against either Kershaw or Freeland and that gonna be tough Brewers Chacin Miley Brewers in NLDS may be easier if they somehow get past the WC game or if they win division, the Brewers get pass the WC game Kershaw is pitching today and Freeland pitched yesterday so if the Dodgers or Rockies want to threw them on two or three days rest, they can be my guest. And since the Cards won today, the Dodgers might have to try tomorrow and Buehler is scheduled to pitch. And if by some chance the Cards make it, Mikolas and Flaherty won’t pitch either.
