  1. There’s no horsefeathering way that’s an easy penalty. The rule is garbage. That shouldn’t be a penalty. The one called against Spurs at the end of the game last week shouldn’t have been a penalty. The one Everton got yesterday shouldn’t have been a penalty. These are stupid calls that shouldn’t be given. The easy and obvious solution, which I’ve said before, is to make unintentional ones like that which don’t directly affect a goal being scored, indirect free kicks. Attacking team still gets a free kick, defending team doesn’t give up a PK for some BS reason and we as fans get to see some creative indirect free kicks. But this? This handball rule ruins games. It’s dumb and it needs to go away yesterday. It’s a bad rule.
  2. Per bukie before the Giants loss: - Reds clinch 5 seed with a win and Cardinals loss, they win tiebreakers vs Marlins, Brewers and Giants, lose tiebreaker vs Cards So Marlins win (31-29), Reds lose (30-30), Brewers win (30-30), Giants lose (29-31), Cards lose the DH (29-31). We play the Reds I believe. I assume if the Giants win it would be the same. Can’t see St Louis losing two to a Detroit team with nothing to play for though.
  3. LOL. Had the time wrong also. Definitely not a good look when petitioning for a potential playoff thread start.
  4. Big game today and not just for the White Sox. While I'm sure a lot of you have been paying attention to the playoff standings, you might not have been paying attention to the Game Thread Starter standings. Here's where we're at going into the final day: Derwood (7-2) Brian707 (7-2) soccer10k (6-2) So if the Cubs win, I could (should?) get the start in Game 1 with the tiebreaker being continuing who won the previous game if that person is tied for best record. Also on my resume is being the person who started threads for Games 4, 5 and 6 of the 2016 NLCS. However, if the Cubs lose, I fall to third and might not get a start if Ross and our offense have anything to say about it. Expectations are low since the Sox have everything to play for while the Cubs have nothing on the line (sorry, the Crosstown Cup doesn't count). I would like a playoff start so win, Cubs. GO CUBS!!!!
  5. I just want them to lose tomorrow because they’re probably in if they win and I want them to both have a chance to miss the playoffs and to have to play on Monday. They are definitely in with a win and wouldn't have to play the extra games. Even if the Cards lose to the Brewers tomorrow, it would still require at least 1 Giants win to play the Tigers games. So Brewers win and Giants lose and the Central gets 4 playoff teams? Wild.
  6. I just want them to lose tomorrow because they’re probably in if they win and I want them to both have a chance to miss the playoffs and to have to play on Monday.
  7. If the Phillies lose and the Cards win tomorrow, they won't have to play the last two games. Phillies win both and go 30-30, Cards win to be 30-28 and Giants either split (30-30) or win both (31-29). Who wins the 2 or 3 way tiebreakers? If the Cards win the tiebreaker even with 2 losses, then they wouldn’t play.
  8. They will not be playing those games. Cubs will play the Marlins with a Cardinals win or Marlins loss. No reason for the Cardinals to play those games i don't believe. Thinking more, Cards probably have to lose tomorrow for them to be played. Win and they’re 30-28. Brewers would be at 31 losses. If Philly loses today they’re at 31 also so Cards would be in then. So Philly would need to come back and beat the Rays today for the Cards not to be in with a win tomorrow. But if St Louis loses they’re at 29-29. Mil at 30-30. Then it probably comes down to what the Giants do and who has the tiebreaker.
  9. So Cards are almost certainly going to have to play those two games right? Or at least one of them. Unless everyone finishes at 30-30 and the Cards win the tiebreakers. Tomorrow is going to be nuts in the NL.
  10. 2017 vs St Louis That’s right. We clinched on one day and then eliminated the Cards from the playoffs the next day. That was wonderful.
  11. Ross horsefeathering blows. Loves leaving in a reliever for a second inning.
  12. Anyone remember which years during this run the Cubs actually got to celebrate a playoff spot or division title with a win rather than a loss? If the Cubs clinched a spot because another team lost before the Cubs won on the same day, that counts as the Cubs clinching with a win (like if the Cards lose today and the Cubs come back and win). I’m just talking same day celebrations. I remember 2016 we didn’t because Miggy hit a walkoff homer a day or two later and they celebrated then. This year the playoff spot was clinched on a day we lost. Can’t remember 2015, 2017 or 2017 though.
  13. Do we know who has the tiebreaker between the Reds and Marlins? Twins would clinch the division today if they win so they’d have nothing to play for tomorrow. Giants could still get to 31-29 also since the Pads have nothing to play for. Reds win that tiebreaker. Twins do not clinch the division if they win today if the White Sox also win, since the White Sox win that H2H tiebreaker. You’re right. I was thinking of them losing the 3-way tiebreaker and the tiebreaker with the Indians.
  14. Yeah definitely. Right now if the Cardinals lose they will be percentage points ahead of the Marlins. Though if you feel dirty rooting for the Cardinals, you can just root for the Reds, though they are losing too right now Do we know who has the tiebreaker between the Reds and Marlins? Twins would clinch the division today if they win so they’d have nothing to play for tomorrow. Giants could still get to 31-29 also since the Pads have nothing to play for.
  15. Kipnis was way worse than Javy. Javy was just trying to make a play and was caught between two choices.
  16. Jon gets the benefit of one of Angel’s patented 2 inches off the plate strikes!
  17. The could be out of this if they just caught the pop up to start the inning. Javy would have just gone straight to first there.
  18. That was so unlucky. If that ball is an inch or so lower, it glances off the glove and everyone is safe.
  19. So if the Brewers beat the Cards the next two days, the Phillies beat the Rays twice and the Giants split with the Padres, then the Cards split with Detroit, who gets in? They’d all be 30-30. Could be even crazier if Miami loses tomorrow and Cincy loses twice. Even though they’d both be in, it would muddle up 2nd and 3rd.
  20. Add another one to that video because strike 3 to Heyward was a ball.
  21. If he wants to give Lester that zone tonight I won’t complain.
  22. Not that it changes the tiebreaker winners but the Twins and White Sox split the season series. So Twins would be 12-8 in the 3 way tiebreaker.
  23. Posted this in the game thread from a couple days ago but I’ll repost here. Key point: This was prior to yesterday when the Cubs were 32-24 and the Cards were 27-26.
