  1. Link? Check the 2006 Cubs Draft thread in this forum.
  2. Marmol? Carlos is right behind Sean - I think Sean has had a better season.
  3. Funny how some of us called it.
  4. What does going to USC have to do with it? todd marinovich. over-involved parents (see marinovich). no control of athletes (see the football team). i don't like usc. :D Yeah, I hate USC a lot. I don't think they feed their players steroids, though.
  5. I haven't heard how hard he's throwing. From what I have heard, he's been having problems with his out pitches.
  6. I don't think he's a guy who will ever be the best player on a good team. I don't like spending a top 3 pick on someone like that. Aldridge could be, as could Morrison. Of the top 5 guys in the draft, Thomas is the one I'd like the least. He's not going to contribute to the team next year, he's really young and raw, and isn't as offensively skilled as the other options. Well, none of us can be certain what Bargnani will do. And Thomas has a great mid-range jumper that should allow him to contribute next season.
  7. Daytona had a 9 game winning streak before that loss.
  8. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (1-3, 3.12 ERA, 43.1 IP, 37/17) @ LHP Dan Meyer (3-2, 4.46 ERA) West Tenn: LHP JR Mathes (4-3, 4.00 ERA, 45 IP, 31/9) vs. RHP James Russ (2-3, 3.65 ERA) Daytona: LHP Carlos Perez (0-1, 8.44 ERA, 16 IP, 15/15) @ RHP Jesse Litsch (2-5, 4.53 ERA) Peoria: LHP Jesus Yepez (1-2, 3.93 ERA, 34.1 IP, 19/22) vs. LHP Ryan Mullins (1-1, 5.05 ERA)
  9. He's too old for that.
  10. So the Cubs need a winning streak for this to happen? Hopefully they face Nolasco, Pinto and Welly everyday for the rest of the season.
  11. Let's trade Pierre to the Marlins for Nolasco, Pinto and Mitre.
  12. Didn't see this mentioned earlier. It's a subscriber-only mock, so I'll just cut and paste the Cubs' pick: They have Andrew Miller going first and Luke Hochevar going 5th to the Mariners.
  13. What does going to USC have to do with it?
  14. I honestly can't say those two are disappointments - I wasn't expecting much out of them, sadly. Gallagher and Hoffpauir are easily the players of the year thus far (Fox right behind Micah).
  15. Probable Starters: Iowa: TBD @ RHP Jason Windsor (2-0, 3.18 ERA) Daytona: RHP Grant Johnson (4-4, 4.85 ERA, 42.2 IP, 24/19) vs. LHP Phil Coke (0-3, 3.00 ERA) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (3-1, 5.36 ERA, 42 IP, 19/16) vs. LHP Brian Duensing (2-1, 2.06 ERA) I'd guess Ryu or Baez would start for Iowa today.
  16. Yeah, that's what I have him for. And a .195 BAA. Great to see him bounce back so well from the injury.
  17. Except for 65 innings at Iowa last year, and a few more this season, Hill has never shown very good control. His limited stretches of good control may be more attributable to luck and/or a small sample size than any real improvement. Still, he's a lefty with a mouth-watering K rate and there just aren't very many of those lying around. He's too old to be prospect but too young to be done, a situation many of us can sympathize with. I think he'll be a 4th starter, but probably not with the Cubs. Actually, he showed very good control all last season in the minors, not just in Iowa (57.2 IP at West Tenn, 8 IP at Peoria and 65 IP at Iowa).
  18. Clearly, Ron needs to be the one saying "The Don!" if Veal's going to respond in this manner.
  19. Just checking in...I'm shocked and impressed the Cubs scored twice. Hopefully Aramis is starting to heat up.
  20. four times. billingsley's the better prospect. Why because he can throw the ball harder then Marshall? Well...so can Angel Guzman. And I DO consider Angel is the same class with Billingsley. So, yeah...Billingsley is the better "prospect", but the Cubs IMO, have the better PITCHER. How do you know? Have you seen Chad pitch or know what he pitches like? I doubt it. Billingsley does throw harder (92-96 mph). But, like Marshall, he has good movement on his FB (especially when it's in the 92-94 range). His slider is phenomenal and he has a plus curve (like Marshall). His change has improved dramatically this year, giving him four solid major league pitches. Chad is a future #1 pitcher, something Sean isn't. Billingsley is one of the top pitching prospects in the game and is a better prospect and pitcher than Marshall. And this coming from probably one of the biggest Marshall fans around the board and one of the few people who was a big fan of his last season.
  21. Hill has been much better down at AAA than Jerome. It'd be much smarter to leave Hill in the rotation and let him try to learn to throw strikes and improve his control at the big league level. There's not much more he can do in Iowa. Marmol has the better ceiling, but Gallagher is more likely to reach his ceiling. Marmol still needs time in the minors to work on his control, Gallagher is still in high-A (needs to work on improving his secondary pitches) and Veal is in low-A. Outshined, Marmol has recently been hitting the high 90s (97, 98 mph) in starts.
  22. Likely a blow out game. Yeah, it was a blow out.
  23. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Les Walrond (4-1, 2.15 ERA, 46 IP, 30/23) @ RHP James Garcia (4-1, 6.18 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Randy Wells (2-1, 1.59 ERA, 28.1 IP, 23/5) vs. RHP Jose Oyervidez (1-4, 4.86 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (2-3, 3.50 ERA, 43.2 IP, 45/20) vs. William Horne (2-1, 3.65 ERA) Peoria: RHP Scott Taylor: (1-2, 2.08 ERA, 21.2 IP, 13/2) vs. RHP Kyle Waldrop (3-2, 3.99 ERA)
  24. Did he ever scorch that GW hit.
