  1. I really don't think Carlos will have the control yet to be effective, but I'm pleased. He's one of my favorites. You might be right, but not every pitcher needs Greg Maddux-like control to get the job done. His WHIP of 1.16 is quite respectable especially for a starter and he is K'ing more than a batter per inning. If he can strike people out, he can be an effective reliever. Of course, he needs to believe in himself like Marshall does. If he can relax and pitch his game, he can succeed, can't he? While his WHIP is good, his control is still questionable. More than likely, it will worsen when he gets to the big leagues (as it does for most pitchers). He's still very raw, as kctigers put it.
  2. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (2-1, 2.39 ERA, 37.2 IP, 54/8) @ RHP Robinson Tejeda (1-2, 4.37 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Paul Schappert (3-0, 3.69 ERA, 31.2 IP, 13/16) vs. RHP Steven Jackson (2-3, 2.28 ERA) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (3-4, 4.34 ERA, 56 IP, 52/28) @ RHP Colby Miller (1-1, 2.70 ERA) Peoria: RHP Mitch Atkins (4-0, 1.95 ERA, 55.1 IP, 56/19) vs. Josh Geer (3-2, 4.44 ERA)
  3. Woulda been fun to go against all you Mizzou folk. There's still time. A Mizzou win and UCLA loss gives us the matchup. And that's what happened. Mizzou and UCLA go at it at for the right to try to beat Pepperdine twice in a row, with the first being later that day. Projected starters are Freshman Rick Zagone for Mizzou and Junior Tyson Brummett for UCLA. Poor Huff today. :( It's on now... Go Bruins! :D

  5. RHP Greg Reynolds, Stanford (Awesome, 4 different college RHPs so far!)
  6. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Angel Guzman (2-3, 4.89 ERA, 35 IP, 43/10) @ LHP Kevin Walker (3-3, 4.97 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (3-2, 2.33 ERA, 58 IP, 67/25) vs. RHP Garrett Mock (1-5, 5.08 ERA) Daytona: LHP Carlos Perez (0-1, 6.75 ERA, 20 IP, 19/17) Peoria: RHP Mark Prior (rehab)
  7. I wasn't aware of the character issues with Drabek. Are the concerns legitimate? If so, I'd go with Kershaw as well. Extremely legitimate. I posted a Premium BA link in the thread about him - the confirmed concerns are (past?) drinking problems, accidents and outbursts on and off the field. The unconfirmed rumors involve steroid usage. That said, he's a top-5 talent and some team will take him in the first round - the Dodgers might be that team - or they might not want to have problems after drafting Hochevar last year.

  10. Yeah, this was the year after JD messed with the Phillies and folks weren't sure he'd sign. He was a consensus top-3 pick (along with Burrell and Mulder) otherwise.
  11. Greenberg? I heard already... :( Wow. :(
  12. UCLA defeated UCI 3-2, thanks in part to Hector Amrbiz's CG. They play the winner of Mizzou-Pepperdine. Pepperdine leads it right now 3-1 in the 9th.
  13. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (2-3, 3.16 ERA, 51.1 IP, 42/18) @ RHP Jared Fernandez (1-1, 3.45 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Bobby Brownlie (1-3, 5.71 ERA, 17.1 IP, 15/8) Daytona: RHP Matt Weber vs. LHP Kyle Aselton (4-2, 4.10 ERA) Peoria (game 1): RHP Todd Blackford (4-1, 4.25 ERA, 55 IP, 23/22) Peoria (game 2): TBD
  14. There goes that dream. :( Somewhere in NE Illinois, UK isn't too happy.
  15. Uh oh. You know they'll go after Pods. Pods .271 .272 .395 line would improve our leadoff spot quite a bit. Even if he settles to last years level of .290 .351 .349 it would be an improvement. Good Lord! And I thought Pierre's IsoD was pitiful. Who do the White Sox have left in their farm system worth pursuing? Liotta? Broadway? I'd want Josh Fields or Lance Broadway. Williamson wouldn't net either.
  16. Forget Guzman and his awful plate discipline, I want Billingsley (if you want a hitter, I'd rather have Kemp).
  17. Really? Even thought he's a Boras client and the Pirates are cheapskates? Those would be fun negotiations to watch, given that Hochevar has almost zero leverage. I'll keep picking him until he's off the board. I really think he'll go #3. Well, we're going for most realistic, so if he didn't go #3 like you thought he would, you have to make him go to the most likely next destination. This isn't just a draft board deal here.
  18. RHP Brad Lincoln, Houston - 3 LHP Clayton Kershaw, Highland Park HS - 1 OF Drew Stubbs, Texas - 1 RHP Luke Hochevar, formerly Tennessee - 1
