  1. He's fine. He wasn't really injured. It was just a super secret steroids supsension. He was throwing high 80's, topping out at like 90 or 91 on occasion with no movement. The lack of curve balls is a concern as well. The curve ball puts more strain on the arm, so maybe he was holding it back because of the pain. Either that or the pitch just plain sucks for him right now. I hope he is fine/gets fine so we can get his butt out of town for anything of value, but I think that is a little too optimistic. He was topping out at 92 just like in his last few starts in the minors, but yeah, the movement wasn't there. Mark isn't holding back - his curve was sharp and fantastic his last time out for Iowa. He was throwing it today, it just wasn't effective in the first. It became better after the first.
  2. Peoria down 2-1 to Kane County in the 5th.

  4. I agree. It was obvious to everyone he had just the 4-seamer going. I would have preferred Prior getting one more start at Iowa. I think the velo will pick up in a start or 2.
  5. Is it official? That seems like the obvious move. Unofficially official. I was told that Reyes will join the I-Cubs tomorrow with Wells so that he can take Soto's spot who will be filling in during Michael's suspension. Ok. I was just looking at TX's link and Carrie was saying Nevin would back up Hank White during the suspension. Didn't think it'd be likely, especially with now 3 catcher on Iowa's roster.
  6. Awesome, much deserved. He's not going with Clay?

  8. Hopefully Soto then will be promoted to the Cubs during Barrett's suspensio (even though Carrie doesn't think it will happen in that link). Good for Fox, much deserved.
  9. Wow, Blanco hit another HR? Good thing Barrett's getting suspended!! :P
  10. Supposedly France doesn't collect that data. They do have one of the most diverse populations in Europe, but many of them live in inferior conditions.
  11. it will rain but this game will get in today unless something else developes http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/2854/17si4.jpg Agreed. They're playing through what will be the worst of it.
  12. Just like kc said, my concerns with Veal is the combination of his walks with the amount of flyballs he gives up - which will surely turn into more HRs in the PCL and the big leagues.

  14. He threw a bunch, but they all missed by quite a margin. He basically had one pitch that inning.
  15. Fred, that doesn't make sense. When do you know when Walker breaks out of it? I'd play the best player over the season unless Neifi's really hot for a good stretch of time (.313/.294/.563 in 16 ABs isn't enough ABs for me).
  16. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, Marmol and Pawelek might do it. I don't think the Cubs have the system to acquire Cabrerra.
  17. Actually, there are stories out there about how his parents freaked out about how much he was throwing at the young age of 13 and took over his workout and training regimen. So, his mom (and dad) might have saved him. :P
  18. But still, Remlinger has always done better against righties than lefties.
