  1. We have to worry about voters who only read box scores. Penn State's feelings shouldn't be any part of Coach Weis' thought process. Playing the game to win with your best players should never be seen as being unsportsmanlike. Lets face it---you all are focusing on anything other than the fact that Notre Dame just completely took apart your program. Thats fine---I wouldn't want to think about my team being humiliated this soon either. You're right. The voters don't pay much attention to Notre Dame, especially when they play Penn State. They'll just check the box score. It's classless when Spurrier does it. When Pom Pom does it. When Mack Brown did it last week. And it's classless when Weiss does it.
  2. Box Score Boise lost their series in a 6-4 loss, box score: CF M. Camp 2/5, R, K, E (1, fielding) SS M. Matulia 2/5, SB (3), CS (1) LF T. Colvin 2/4, R, K 1B R. Canzler 2/4, R, 2 RBI, K RF A. Joseph 1/4, RBI 3B J. Lansford 2/4, RBI, K 2B S. Clevenger 0/4, K, E (2, missed catch) DH DJ Lewis 1/3, R, 2B (1), BB SP J. Renshaw 3 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 5 H, 4 K/3 BB, HR, 4 GO-1 FO RP A. Maestri 3 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 4 K/0 BB, HBP, WP, 4 GO-2 FO
  3. Rocky Roquet uncorks a wild pitch over the batter's head (!) on a 1-2 count allowing the game-winning run to score for Salem-Keizer. The Hawks are now down 2-1 in the series and will send Jake Renshaw in a do-or-die game.
  4. Runners at second and third with two outs for Salem-Keizer in the bottom of the 11th (single, single which was misplayed by Tyler Colvin in LF allowing the runners to advance)...
  5. Or a passing TD from the ND starting QB to the ND starting RB in the 4th quarter with a 31 point lead? It's bush league and it's all about Weis' ego - especially the trick play late in the 3rd. You want more blatant running up the score? Check out Pom Pom Pete.
  6. Wow, that was an embarassing game for UCLA. Four turnovers, only beat Rice 26-16. Complete opposite of last wee - Ben Olson was awful, awful, awful but the rushing game was spectacular this time around. Chris Markey had a career high in rushing yards (over 200) and Kahlil Bell topped 100 yards rushing too. The defense continues to impress (outside of one play on the speed option) - including a stand at the 5 yard line after a muffed punt.
  7. Mercedes is at third, with two outs, for Tyler Colvin... EDIT: Hawks didn't score - sorry, was watching the end of the UCLA game, so I didn't know what happened. Anyways, Rocky Roquet is now in pitching for the Hawks in the bottom of the 10th.
  8. Ugh...Matt Canepa hit in the head by a fastball. He never went down, he squatted for about 15 seconds and walked off on his own assistance. Canepa out, Mario Mercedes pinch running for Canepa.
  9. Extra innings in northern Oregon...
  10. Jason Ruhlman to pitch his 4th inning of work against Witter, Pill and Boyer in the bottom of the 9th, with the game tied at 1.
  11. 1-1, top of the 9th. Canzler, Joseph and Lansford for Boise.
  12. Boise scores 1 in the 5th to tie it up. Muldowney: 5 IP, 1 ER, 5H, 2 BB, 3 K.
  13. New Hampshire is one of the best I-AA teams around.
  14. Abdominal strain. And Washington scores a touchdown against Oklahoma on the first play of the game.
  15. Wow, great finish in the Akron-NC State game.
  16. Well, sometimes you can't control where you are on the map, right? There aren't many bigger Cubs fans on this board than you, and no one questions your loyalty as a fan in CA. My main rankling is with those who I mentioned in parentheses. Sorta like that comparison derwood made to Yankees/Duke/etc. fan. And my Cub fan-ness hasn't been questioned, but my Bulls fandom has been questioned on this board. :D
  17. I don't care who you root for or how you became a fan of them - it's just funny to see a bunch of ND fans all over the map (especially in So Cal - they were quiet in the '90s, suddenly were USC fans the last few years and are now ND fans again).
  18. By his logic, you can't root for a school you didn't go to. (Which is dumb to begin with, considering that most alums don't play a down of football for their school and simply attending the school doesn't make them anymore of a fan than anyone else). So, I guess you can't root for a team you don't work for or play for, including the Cubs. It is the same logic. He laid out his logic in a latter post. No he didn't. His "logic" consisted of saying "I don't understand why people get crazy about schools they didn't go to" and "most ND fans are bandwagonners." Come to think of it, that's not even logic. That is just spewing nonsensical opinions without any backing for what is said. That said, its fun bantering about college football with a Kansas fan and a UCLA fan. I just can't wait to see which of those two teams we play in a BCS bowl game! Let's see who's talking on Oct. 21st.

  20. School teams are professional?
  21. Eli Tintor hit two game-winning 2-run home runs this series. Both were with 2 outs in the inning.
