  1. After seeing Marco here in Peoria, I can tell you that MWL guys were hitting at will against him, pretty well. He may just need some experience, but it didn't look good. It was only 3 innings after being very successful in AZ. But on the flip side, he's smaller than 6' and doesn't even top 90 mph. Not too projectable, he had control in Mesa.
  2. Thanks, kc. Outside of Liddi, I don't know much about the foreign-born prospects (outside of their AZL stats), so it's nice to read something about a few of them. I think the only 2 Cubs who will make BA's list are Huseby and Ceda - certainly Rundle and Dolis have a chance but I don't think they'll make it.
  3. Scott Taylor's top of the second: Taylor vs. Portes: Ball 1. Strike 1 swinging. Ball 2. Single to RF. Taylor vs. Leger: 4-6-3 GIDP - great play by Heredia to get Portes who was going on the pitch. Two outs. Taylor vs. Gardenhire: Strike 1 looking. Strike 2. Ball 1. Ball 2. Groundout, 4-3. Taylor: 2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 36 pitches Game tied 1-1 in the middle of the 2nd inning. Peoria's 2nd inning: Kyle Reynolds flies out. Yusuf Carter flies out to deep LF. Mark Reed flies out to deep RF. Beloit and Peoria tied 1-1 after 2 innings.
  4. Yeesh, each team commited 2 errors in the first inning.
  5. Peoria in the bottom of the 1st: Valerio Heredia singles up the middle on a 1-2 count. Valerio Heredia steals second, advances to third on an E-2 (throw to CF). Robinson Chirinos flies out to LF. Heredia tags and scores. One out. The game is tied 1-1. Jesus Valdez strikes out on a 2-2 pitch. Two outs. Norwood safe at first base on a ground ball to the firstbaseman, who throws errantly to the pitcher covering (E-3). Wild pitch, Norwood to second base. Garcia flies out to LF on a 3-2 count. Game tied 1-1 after 1 inning.
  6. Scott Taylor's first inning: Taylor vs. Patterson: Strike 1 looking. Strike 2 fouled. Ball 1. Ball 2 inside Ball 3 Fouled back, still 3-2. Fouled back, still 3-2. Ball 4. Taylor vs. Luque. Ball 1, Patterson steals second. Nathan disagrees with the call, thought Patterson was out. Sacrifice bunt, Luque safe at first on an E-5 (high throw). Patterson scores. Beloit leads 1-0. Taylor vs. Betsill: Strike 1. Strike 2. E-4 - line drive off Heredia's glove and into CF. Luque to second, Betsill safe at first. Taylor vs. White: Ball 1. Ball 2. Strike 1. Fouled out of play, 2-2 count. Fouled out of play, 2-2 count. Flyout to the warning track in right centerfield. Luque advances to third, Betsill stays at first. One out. Taylor vs. Tintor: Fouled back, strike 1. Strike 2 swinging. Strike 3 swinging ("nasty offspeed pitch"). Two outs. Taylor vs. Ovalle: Strike 1 swinging. Ball 1 low. Strike 2 swinging. Weak groundout, 6-3. Taylor: 1 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 26 pitches Beloit leads 1-0 in the middle of the first inning.
  7. Bobby Dickerson, Oneri Fleita, Lester Strode and Donnie Veal are all present at the Chiefs game.
  8. As SSR alluded to, trading Dope would come under the trading while value is extremely low category. He had a down year in 2005 and an injury-plagued 2006 which resulted in another down year.
  9. Beloit Snappers: DH Tarrence Patterson 3B William Luque 1B Matt Betsill LF Dwayne White RF Eli Tintor CF Ed Ovalle 2B Juan Portes C Jose Leger SS Toby Gardenhire SP Eduardo Morlan Peoria Chiefs: 2B Valerio Heredia SS Robinson Chirinos LF Jesus Valdez 1B Ryan Norwood DH Alberto Garcia 3B Kyle Reynolds RF Yusuf Carter C Mark Reed CF Davey Gregg SP Scott Taylor Game time weather: 85°F, clear
  10. Heh, I only skimmed the Papelbon story - didn't think to check and see if they had game times. I figured MiLB.com would be more likely to be wrong! Thanks, Serena.
  11. What's he still doing spending a full season at low-A at age 22 with 5 viable pitches, given the success he's had this season?
  12. Apparently Mulder will have his surgery next week.
  13. WTG, IMB. Show those Cards fans.
  14. The less media coverage of ND, the better.
  15. Confirmed that Fontenot is injured.
  16. No way Dopirak is dropped off the 40-man. If Cedeno and Novoa aren't traded, I expect they'll remain on the 40-man. According to craig, Novoa actually has one more option year because he spent all of this season in the big leagues. Here's (Premium) a thread in the Minor League Forum discussing potential names to be added. I expect the following names will be protected: Jake Fox Ryan Harvey Billy Petrick Clay Rapada/Ed Campusano/Chris Shaver <-- one of Randy Wells No need to protect Eric Patterson or Sean Gallgher yet.
  17. The game time for Boise is still different between MiLB.com and BoiseHawks.com. MiLB.com (in two different parts of its site) says the game starts at 5:15 MDT Boise's own web site says 7:15 MDT.
  18. Huh, still predicts the Bears will win.
  19. Agreed.
  20. Yes, it's very much so a pitcher's league. EDIT: Moore was 6th in the SL in SLG.
  21. It's his biggest problem, definitely. He does have a good eye and takes a good share of walks. Looks like an Adam Dunn type player. Nah, he doesn't have Dunn's patience or power.
  22. I wish that was luck, but they have collected ALOT of legit talent. Sanchez and Ramirez were the Red Sox top two prospects in many eyes. Nolasco was HUGELY underrated by the Cubs orginization. Not only that but guys like Willingham, Olsen, Hermida, Uggla were some highly touted prospects. Not to mention Willis and Cabrera. I'm jealous of the young talent on that team. Olsen is Scott Kazmir lite, Sanchez showed some nasty stuff today, Ramirez is one of the most exciting young SSs in the league...and so on. Nolasco will settle in as a back of the rotation guy, imo. His peripherals are not impressive. I think Ricky's peripheral stats will improve (and so will he) and come closer to his minor league numbers (excluding the AAA attempt in 2004) in the next few years.
  23. It's his biggest problem, definitely. He does have a good eye and takes a good share of walks. EDIT: He actually had 126 Ks in AA and 1 in AAA. He walked 55 times and had an IsoD of .083 between West Tenn and Iowa.
  24. Problem is, Hendry is always banking on this. Always. No. He's not. Not always.
