  1. What the heck was Anderson doing there? Actually, we're both wrong. He had 2 hits (Furcal, Kent) and 2 BBs. Gooz: 2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 K, 36 pitches.
  2. Gooz: 1 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 K, 22 pitches.
  3. Ugh. Good pitch, but Kent makes it 1-0 Dodgers.
  4. http://cubs.scout.com/2/568012.html 19-game schedule released. A 1 pm game in Mesa in September seems like punishment.
  5. What are the chances the Cubs will let Pawelek throw his split or slider anytime soon? They did hold back Gallagher's full arsenal of pitches until this season.
  6. I'm more afraid of the number of picks the Cubs will lose. Again. Well I guess that depends how they approach this offseason. If we try to make a bunch of FA signings in a weak attempt to win next year, we could lose some. I'd really be in favor of trying a quick "rebuild" where we accept some mediocracy next year in hopes of making a stronger effort in 2008. Also even if we did go after some FAs that cost us picks it could turn out like: Gain bottom 15 first rounder and supp. for Pierre Lose a 2nd and 3rd rounder for OF and P We have the same number of picks, just make the first three within the first 40ish picks ,instead of top 70-80. If the Cubs go into free agency looking to win next season, I don't see how Hendry will pass on re-signing Juan Pierre.
  7. I think they're getting a bit ahead of themselves in that article, it doesn't sound like they know anything yet:
  8. I'm more afraid of the number of picks the Cubs will lose. Again. Or who they will over draft in the first round? Ehh, there's a reason for Wilken's reputation. I'm not going to worry too much unless he does it again next season.
  9. Heh, even Bruce calls him The Riot now. :) Thanks, Bruce.
  10. I'm pretty sure it's Koerber and Lansford going to Hawaii. Scout.com probably just has an older list? Interesting to see Alan Rick's potential conversion to 1st. Did he play much there when he was in Daytona? I also wonder if Jesse Estrada is going to get converted back to a starter or whether he'll continue getting developed for the pen. Thanks for the heads-up Raisin :) Yeah, Nathan said it'd be Koerber and Lansford. Rick had gotten some time at first base (tough to get a lot though with Matt Craig around), but mostly, he was DHing.
  11. And he's now perfect through 7.
  12. The game is on in the office...bunch of Angels fans here.
  13. And let's not forget Liriano has a pretty big injury history.
  14. Hrm, Josh Lansford is listed as going to instructs, but Nathan said a few weeks ago that he was going to the new Hawaii Winter League.
  15. I'm more afraid of the number of picks the Cubs will lose. Again.
  16. For those of you who don't get WGN in the LA Metro, the game is on local TV: KCAL channel 9. AM 980 throughout Southern California.
  17. Nothing really new here, ESPN just took the Cy Young angle. I wish the Cubs would just sit Z for the rest of the season, he isn't going to win the Cy Young either way.
  18. Daytona broadcasters said that the D-Cubs pitchers liked the way he called games too. So logically the Cubs will move him to LF. Granted I haven't seen the kid play but from what I've read I just do not understnad this organization. While some aspects of his catching game are good, other aspects of his defense are pretty bad. Also, another thing to keep in mind is that in the FSL, Fox could DH on his days off as a catcher. He can't do that at AA and higher (pitchers bat, no DH), so playing in the OF is one way to keep his bat in the lineup. Pat Listach definitely talked up Fox getting some playing time in the OF, but we're still at the point where we can't tell if the Cubs have lost faith in his defense or if they just want Fox to get a few games under his belt in other positions. Fox supposedly will catch and play other positions at the AFL.
  19. Awesome. Hey, SSR, F YOU!! NO ILLINIWEK LOVER F U!! I could pay to watch this.
  20. True, but a team dosent have a chance to go to the playoffs every year. This is probably the Twins year to win the world series. I think their pitching is solid(specially in the bullpen). Their lineup produces enough runs to win a game every day. Twins are my favorites to win the World Series if they make it to the playoffs. I agree if you have a chance to get to the playoffs and contend for a ring you do anything you can to get there... If it means jeapordizing your rookie ace's career, I disagree.
  21. When was this, what happened? September, 2004, when his 2 HRs accounted for all the Cubs runs in a win over the Pirates. It happened seconds after this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Navinda/CXC109091423_lower.jpg Story? Earlier in the game, Corey was at first and missed a steal sign and did not steal second. Seconds later, there was a double play, ending that threat. When Corey hit his walk-off in extras, Dusty was seen chastising him on the field after Corey scored. After that game, Corey slumped through the rest of September, and then had his brutal 2005.
