  1. If Lofton is a clubhouse problem after 03, Dave Roberts would be a good stopgap for Pie too. Of course, this only works if the Cubs add offense elsewhere, like Soriano at 2B.
  2. It'd be tougher to do that in the middle of the season, I assume.
  3. That explains how the Cubs are considering signing a few different players (besides Daisuke) in Asia. Bruce, any chance the Cubs are considering returning more permanently to Asia/the Pacific Rim a la the Leon Lee era? I hope Hendry sees how beneficial this can be and starts boosting up the scouting in that department. Good to see Jim was flexible in this situation and saw the importance of scouting for 07.
  4. I don't see why the Raiders game isn't on here, but since AZ and Oakland suck, I won't complain.
  5. Torn ligament in his foot? Crap. Just be back by the playoffs.
  6. Link A look at how some of the prospects they pegged at the beggining of the season for breakout campaigns and other stuff did. They also went over the 05 and 06 draft.
  7. Licey's season starts on miercoles (Wednesday).
  8. I'd do that in a heartbeat. They have no halfway decent OF prospects in the high minors.
  9. How much would one have to give up in a trade for him? I would much prefer him to someone like Carlos Lee. Gotta get rid of Jacque, though.
  10. Leones defeat the Caribes 6-4, box: Leones: C H. Blanco 1/4 Caribes: CF C. Walker 0/5 Tigres were up 7-0 when the game was suspended for rain in the 5th inning, box RF B. Coats 0/2, 2 K (7) Overall: Henry Blanco (Leones): 1/6, .167/.167/.167/.334 Chris Walker (Caribes): 7/21, .333/.417/.524/.941, 3 BB, 5 K, 3/4 SB Buck Coats (Tigres): 3/15, .200/.294/.400/.694, 2 BB, 5 K - today's stats not counted
  11. Culiacan finally wins their first game of the season, 6-3, box: 3B C. McGehee 1/3, RBI (4), BB (2) - overall: 5/21, .238/.304/.333/.637
  12. Anyone else find it amusing that FOX came back from the commercial break with video of Jeff Weaver while playing Weezer's "Hash Pipe" in the background?
  13. Jake. Fox. Gotta work on that IsoD, though. :)
  14. Part of the problem is that the Cubs aren't even well established in parts of Latin America (and obviously not at all in Asia). Err, what UK said.
  15. Yeah, but a Cardinal? We can't allow imposters!
  16. I'd also like to know this. Do they count the people that tune in for only a part of the game? For example, I know I usually couldn't make it past the 3rd inning this year. I think they're measured by having some households a device that tracks their TV viewing habits. This is then extrapolated to the entire region. I don't know how you could do that though. You just don't take 1 or 5% of the city, take the percentage of those who switch on the game, and then extrapolate from that, to 100%. It's just not going to be accurate. I always thought it worked like radio in that they could simply detect the signals coming in and when they switched off. It's not going to be perfectly accurate, but it's going to be close. And, according to goony's link, they also do phone calls on top of the sampling
  17. The AFL audio broadcast schedule. They broadcasted today's Mesa game, the next one they'll do is next Monday. All broadcasts are free and they've archived previous broadcasts too.
  18. Mesa wins 14-9, box: 3B S. Moore 2/4, 3 R, HR (1), RBI (5), BB (5), K (7), SB (2) RP L. Holdzkom 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 K/0 BB, 1 HBP RP C. Rapada 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 K/0 BB, 2 GO-0 FO, 2 inherited runners - 0 scored Overall: Scott Moore: 5/22, .227/.370/.455/.825, 5 BB, 7 K, 2/2 SB Lincoln Holdzkom: 4 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 6 K/0 BB, 0.00 ERA, 0.25 WHIP Clay Rapada: 3 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 5 K/2 BB, 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP
  19. Scott Moore with a solo HR in his second AB today to tie the game at 3. He's 1/2 thus far with a K also.
