That's excellent about Moreno. I was wondering if he'd replace Paulino since they lined up well. We know Cease, De La Cruz and Albertos work in the mid 90s +. Sounds like Paulino, Castillo and Rondon work in the low 90s. Moreno and Hudson sound more in the 88-92 range. Absolutely hilarious the Cubs got Rondon from the wretched Angels' farm system for Rafael Lopez. And don't forget we might see some of the top 10 round college kids from this year's draft in the mix at South Bend next season.

Could be a lot of things. The "trots", a trade or possibly a promotion. He's hit .338/.416/.506 in July, and .330/.415/.462 since the Carolina League all-star break (a span of around 120 plate appearances). He's at 400 PAs for the year. Maybe seeing what he can do in AA allows the Cubs and, perhaps more importantly, other teams to gain another level of scouting prior to the trade deadline. Obviously it was related to trade talks but a prospect isn't going to get promoted to another level in the minors an hour before his game.

Oh man, I'll go even further and be okay with parting with Happ if necessary. I'd love acquiring two controlled pitchers Archer/Colome on top of Montgomery. On the other hand, Shelby Miller for Ian Happ feels like a massive overpay. I can't imagine the DBacks would want less for Miller. If they'd take Caratini or Cease or something like that I'd be thrilled. Miller IS still young and talented, but he's been affected by a short stay in an awful organization. What do you think the Cubs were offering the Braves for him? We know they weren't willing to go as high as Soler, but I suspect Happ+ (or Torres, or Eloy) was the approximate deal. Getting him off the new Orioles could be an easy coup, even with someone like Happ. Shelby Miller is certainly not worth that much right now after the half season he's had, no matter how young he is. He'd be intriguing as a buy low candidate. Giving up Happ is not buy low.
