  5. I agree. There's a definite separation between those three and Almora, Happ, Cease and anyone else you think is close.

  11. Damn, Kevin Gowdy got drafted and by a team that will have tons of money.
  12. Brooks is the guy the Cubs got for Coghlan back in spring. He's been at AAA the last few seasons. You're thinking of Aaron Brooks. Whoops, I was the one who mistyped Craig in my first post. Yeah, it was Aaron Brooks who got bumped up.
  13. Oh, the team that is being investigated by the FBI took a player who failed a drug test for PEDs? They must have liked the Astros scouting report on Perez. He's clearly being groomed as the successor to Jhonny Peralta as a performance enhancing Cardinal shortstop.
  14. Brooks is the guy the Cubs got for Coghlan back in spring. He's been at AAA the last few seasons.
  15. Johnson should start Monday. Aaron Brooks is also up with Iowa.
  16. Scout.com 3-round mock draft has the Cubs taking the top junior college prospect with their first pick:
  17. Corey Black was also promoted to Iowa.
  18. I think you can scrounge up $300-$500k in savings with this pool, at best. I can see them taking one prep arm in the first ten rounds and it'll be someone more in Trevor Clifton's price range (I know he was picked after the 10th round but I'm referring to the ~$250k over slot he got). I can't see them going with 4-5 senior signs to swing a 7-figure slot when they're already missing their best two picks, so no Hudson, Sands or Steele types. But maybe they're way more creative and aggressive than I think they can be.

  21. The emotions I went through in that one sentence.
  22. No way he'd fall to 104, would he? (Word is it is PEDs.) He doesn't have a college commitment so there goes his leverage. [tweet] [/tweet]
