  1. No, he would've been a free agent this offseason and not next. Weird. I saw it somewhere that his service time for 2018 season is 6.070. Must've read it wrong or something. I've seen a few articles this offseason mention he would've been a free agent before the 2018 season. Brett at BN has referenced that too.
  2. Yeah, he'll be 29. Imagine if he didn't do that extension. He would be a FA with Harper next offseason. No, he would've been a free agent this offseason and not next.
  3. I think he'll look for a longer deal with numerous opt outs. Say an opt out every 2 years. If he signs with the Cubs, I assume one of the opt outs would be in 2021.
  4. Grimm definitely contributed to the NLDS win in 2015. So did Lackey. Probably contributed more to the 2015 NLDS win than the 2016 playoffs.
  5. TAKE THAT, REGULAR SHOW That's R. Show to you.
  6. haha. i was going to ask if anybody had checked in on sneaky to make sure his heart survived that. congrats Time to check UMFan's Facebook to see his rants about the first 39:59 of the game.
  7. Justin Wilson was working 96-97 today with good command. It'll be great to have Detroit Justin Wilson in this year's bullpen.

  9. Adrian Morejon at 61 is way more of a coulda been a Cubs prospect, since he was linked to them initially. Really? We had heavy interest in Morejon? The Padres spent a lot on him, and I thought we were still in the penalty phase. My memory is a little hazy now about when he signed. Even if we weren't in the penalty phase I'm not sure if the Cubs were willing to outbid the Padres. He was granted free agency a few months before they went into the penalty box. The Cubs were linked to him throughout the time before he was granted a free agency (they were going crazy spending that year on guys like Sierra, Ademan, Albertos, etc) but right around when he was granted free agency, he decided to wait for the next class when the Cubs would be in the penalty box. The Padres signed him while the Cubs were penalized.
  10. I also enjoyed his work in Game 4 of the 2015 NLDS. Struck out three to work around a Bryant error and keep the Cubs up 4-2. http://images.scribblelive.com/2015/10/13/5070757e-0be5-413c-a0cd-bf2d616ae04f_1000.jpg
  11. I'm always interested in northern prep arms since they generally have less wear and tear on them.

  15. Lmao Sean Miller and lmao Arizona.
  16. Heyride. Off Robbie Ray, at that.
  17. We saw some cap space trades during the offseason by teams in the Ohtani hunt and that might be a good indicator since it was blatantly obvious Seattle, Anaheim and Texas valued that cap space for a specific player (which might be the case for teams that have their pool tied up already but are interested in the Cuban defectors who only recently turned up on the market). It will also be interesting to see how much Atlanta can get for their cap space since it has no value to them while they're penalized.
  18. Honestly, if they're still tied, minor league games should just end after 10 innings.
  19. Today: https://www.thecubreporter.com/03152018/cubs-wish-yanqui-had-just-stayed-home Tennessee: Javier Assad: 3.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 1 GIDP, 1 PO, 1/3 GO/AO, 33 pitches (23 strikes) Myrtle Beach: Jose Paulino: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 1 GIDP, 2/1 GO/AO, 44 pitches (28 strikes) Ademan went 1/2 with a single, BB, SB and CS. Galindo hit a HR.
  20. Some interesting stuff from Arizona Phil: https://www.thecubreporter.com/comment/257612#comment-257612
  21. The Cubs are linked to Dominican CF Jose Lopez. 5’10”, athletic, plus speed, strong arm and an above average tools with an unorthodox swing. He’s expected to get a bonus “north of $1 million.”
