  1. Myrtle Beach’s roster: https://atmilb.com/2JhlQuz 6 top 30 prospects on the roster: Alex Lange, Bryan Hudson, Keegan Thompson, Aramis Ademan, DJ Wilson and Wladimir Galindo. No Erling Moreno. Since Moreno didn’t make a full season roster, I guess we can assume he’s hurt again.
  2. BA did a mock draft of the top 10: 1. Tigers: Casey Mize, RHP, Auburn 2. Giants: Matthew Liberatore, LHP, Mountain Ridge HS (Peoria, AZ) 3. Phillies: Nick Madrigal, SS/2B, Oregon State 4. White Sox: Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida 5. Reds: Brady Singer, RHP, Florida 6. Mets: Ryan Rolison, LHP, Ole MIss 7. Padres: Brice Turang, SS, Santiago HS (Corona, CA) 8. Braves: Ethan Hankins, RHP, Forsyth Cen. HS (Cummings, GA) 9. A's: Travis Swaggerty, OF, South Alabama 10. Pirates: Alec Bohm, 3B, Wichita State
  3. Hey, he’s not concerned about his diminished velocity.
  4. He also said that Vasquez, the teenage SS they drafted from Puerto Rico, hit a HR, has broad shoulders, and projects decent/solid power for a SS. Said he's had a good camp. (He lists 6'1 185). BA was pretty positive about his defense. So might be a guy to watch for. I hadn't recalled him being that tall. He didn't hit much last summer. That's the best velocity readings I've read on Thompson since his freshman year before he blew his elbow out.
  5. Jesse Rogers is an idiot and everyone of you need to stop retweeting him into my feed.
  6. https://www.thecubreporter.com/04022018/home-runs-reign-down-riverview-park Starters who were left behind by their full-season team so they can get in some work. Looks like that means Hatch, Abbott and Farrell will be slated to start Saturday. SQUAD "A" PITCHERS: 1. Thomas Hatch: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HBP, 1 HR, 1 WP, 1 GIDP, 5/3 GO/AO, 75 pitches (43 strikes) 2. Cory Abbott: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 8 K, 1 HR, 1 WP, 1 GIDP, 3/2 GO/AO, 67 pitches (46 strikes) SQUAD "B" PITCHERS: 1. Luke Farrell: 4.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R (3 ER), 2 BB, 3 K, 2 HR, 2/7 GO/AO, 78 pitches (47 strikes) 2. Adbert Alzolay: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 5 R (5 ER), 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 1 WP, 0/4 GO/AO, 56 pitches (33 strikes) Arizona Phil added this note on where Alzolay is:
  7. I’m pretty sure it was a small injury holding him back because we would’ve heard something by now I f it was an innings timing strategy. That said, hopefully it works out that way if he does have a big league impact. And FYI, Alzolay bumps up to 126 IP last year when you count his AFL innings.
  8. South Bend’s roster released: https://www.milb.com/sb-cubs/news/south-bend-cubs-announce-2018-opening-day-roster/c-270488348 No big shocks based on Arizona Phil’s posts. Albertos, Little, Assad, Abbot, Uelman, Amaya, Peguero at South Bend and no Ademan.
  9. So dumb. Shouldn’t you not be shifting in that situation then?
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-cubs-adbert-alzolay-notes-20180401-story.html Alzolay not ready, building his arm strength and about 2 weeks behind. ODLC and Hatch at Tennessee. Lange at Myrtle Beach, Albertos and Little at South Bend.
  11. The Dodgers outscored the Giants 14-2 this weekend and somehow only split their 4-game series.
  12. https://www.thecubreporter.com/04012018/pelicans-fly-coop-while-bote-bomb-leaves-smokies-dark 1. Duncan Robinson: 4.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 7 K, 1 HR, 1 WP, 4/2 GO/AO, 74 pitches (51 strikes) 2. Erich Uelmen: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 3 K, 1 GIDP, 7/3 GO/AO, 70 pitches (44 strikes) 4. Bryan Hudson: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R (1 ER), 3 BB, 1 K, 1 GIDP, 6/5 GO/AO, 78 pitches (42 strikes) David Bote hit a homer. Erick Leal and Manuel Rondon, both of whom were hurt, got in to games today.
  13. Jared Young continued his hot spring with his 4th homer: https://www.thecubreporter.com/03312018/jared-young-has-rake-will-travel IOWA PTCHERS: 1. Jen-Ho Tseng: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR, 2 GIDP, 7/4 GO/AO, 80 pitches (49 strikes) TENNESSEE PITCHERS: 1. Jose Paulino: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 7/4 GO/AO, 79 pitches (50 strikes) MYRTLE BEACH PTCHERS: 1. Ricky Tyler Thomas: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 3 R (1 ER), 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 5/6 GO/AO, 84 pitches (48 strikers) SOUTH BEND PITCHERS: 1. Javier Assad: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R (1 ER). 1 BB, 3 K, 5/7 GO/AO, 61 pitches (38 strikes)
  14. So Strop, Cishek, Duensing and maybe Carl available? And Montgomery.
  15. Kenley Jansen averaged 89 mph on his cutter today and topped out at 90. (Also Kershaw and Wood's velocity are down too.) Hand gave up 5 and Rivero 4 in blown saves.
  16. The Cubs went from averaging 8 runs/game to 3.12 runs/game in one game.
  17. https://www.thecubreporter.com/03302018/young-quintet-hits-highlights-sb-cubs-win-fitch-park José Albertos threw 3.2 scoreless but surrendered 8 base runners. Keegan Thompson was very good for Myrtle Beach: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 3 K, 7/4 GO/AO, 73 pitches (50 strikes)
  18. Pretty underwhelming stuff from Underwood.
