  1. He and Hatch didn't pitch for the big league team despite being invited.
  2. I was gonna delete my original post so yours would be the first one in the thread but apparently I can't delete a post if someone quoted it.
  3. He's using a new grip this year.
  4. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has “injuries” like this all year because they know he’s done and don’t want him embarrassed. Also if their bullpen/closer sucks I could see him trying to come back/be shifted to the closer role. I could see the redbirds shifting Alex Reyes to the closer role down the stretch. Not sure about making Wainwright the closer. He doesn't have good enough stuff for that role. I am secretly hoping injuries will destroy their SR depth and allow for a reunion with John Lackey lol. They have - thus far - been adamant that they won't use Reyes as a 1-inning closer and want him to be a multi-inning reliever who can build up to starting in the second half.
  5. Probable an upgrade for the Cardinals.
  6. You're the hero we deserve, not the hero we need.
  7. Chris Sale hit by a liner, might have jacked up his knee too. https://twitter.com/starting9/status/977598356544540678?s=21 Let's just bubble wrap the Cubs and fast forward to October.
  8. https://www.thecubreporter.com/03242018/pelicans-fit-be-tied-giants-riverview#more Keegan Thompson threw 4 scoreless for Myrtle Beach. Kwangmin Kwon hit a HR for South Bend.
  9. The first regular season game is in less than 7 days. Figure out a game thread rotation and all that stuff. I have a baby so don't expect me to keep this updated or anything.

  11. Trevor Clifton was returned to AA Tennessee yesterday. Here are yesterday's Iowa and Tennessee games: https://www.thecubreporter.com/03222018/shark-visits-riverview Rademacher and Higgins hit home runs. TENNESSEE LINEUP: 3a. 12. 11:27 Z: With the *possibly* changing landscape to pitch usage at the major league level, has there been any discussion about the way certain amateur players are evaluated? I’m thinking leaning more towards players that might not have a great fastball but can really spin a breaker (maybe Alex Lange?). 11:28 Kiley McDaniel: Been talking to scouts about this recently. I think it’s happening, you’re seeing HS power arms that are athletic with stuff but have a head whack or bad command with good Trackman stuff and teams are just taking them now, where they rarely did in the past. I think Zack Burdi is gonna shove when he gets back from TJ and he should’ve gone higher. Lange and Brendon Little fit that description too. We’ve written about how Madrigal fits the Betts/Altuve/Albies mold of sneaky power…it’s happening as GMs and analytics staffs have more say in draft decisions
  13. Bold strategy to have Wainwright incur his annual serious injury against minor leaguers this year.
  14. 18. Strop's first in-game action this spring:
  19. As was Vlad Jr. :banghead: Yeah, I have no idea if the Cubs liked Pearson enough to where he was even considered by them, but he could've been had at 27 without a bidding war... I don't believe this is true. Vlad Jr. was linked the Blue Jays from the start. Yeah, I don't remember the Cubs being linked to Vlad Jr.
  20. So did Lackey. Probably contributed more to the 2015 NLDS win than the 2016 playoffs. i screamed loud enough for the whole block to hear me when that happened I screamed loud enough... that the whole office knew the Cubs did something good. And someone suggested maybe it would be better if I was at bar down the street.
